This is again over the hill... getting darker

This is from the front of our house..it coming from the left and the smoke is going to the right

This shows how dark it is in the sky..the sun is shining but behind our house it is black

and finally.. look at the size of these ashes... it looks like it is snowing outside

WOW, that sky is black! I would be getting a little nervous right now. Is there a smell in the air, or is it hard to breathe?

Wow, those are some pictures, Melora!!! I recall about a year ago when the fires were burning in FL, I was at Universal for the worst day. You could barely see across the waterway they have there. Awful. Yours looks terrible. How far are you from LA??

Here in Thousand Oaks we are about 40 miles north of downtown LA.

Yes, it stinks pretty bad right now. The sun is almost down so I can't see if it got much worse. There are at least 3 seperate fires going right now in and around LA County. I honestly don't know just how far this is from us, we had to go drop my dsd off and we still couldn't see the flames from her house which I believe is closer, I would say its probably about 5-8 miles away over the hills. Unless it turned into an unbelievable fire storm it won''t reach us. But it is so hot right now, and outside it is completely still and there is barely any noise...its very weird. The wind was whipping around in huge gusts earlier, now its stopped. There is a red glow over the hill right now....

When we were out about 2 hours ago the sun was blood red through the smoke and glowing almost neon. My daughter said it looked like a movie where the world was ending and evil was coming... (Shes been watching too much TV) but it was freaky looking...
