More encouraging news re: Rivers of Light

Not sure that I buy something like that. The Parks division of Disney runs all parks, and manages all park assets. If the management team decides that it is going to WDW, it is going to WDW. The DL team does not make that decision.

If it isn't coming to WDW, it was never coming to WDW.
Actually that's Not true. The Disneyland management team and WDW management team are two separate things. The parks and resorts executives oversee both of them. DL is paying to refurb PTN and MSEP they don't want WDW to just take it without putting anything into it. WDW doesn't want to put any of their budget towards it. That's often why people will refer to the management teams at TDO or TDA (Team Disney Orlando or Team Disney Anaheim) they make more decisions than you think.

That was my point - that an executive management team makes the decisions and if they decide that WDW gets this, they get it. Of course each park has a management team, but a team sits above them and would be the team to make this call. The DL team would not make this call.

If I had a dollar for every first-timer who said they were going once and never again and then ends up back here planning the next trip a month after they got back... ;)

Well when you generally don't have any money and this is a once-in-a-lifetime kind of deal, nah. I'm pretty sure we won't be back. Because we're poor. Thanks though.

Though if we hit the lottery I guess we'll go back. But you know how those chances are.

I disagree here. The executive team only makes the big calls like star wars land and stuff like that. Moving a parade is not a big call since that parade is already built and paid for. I will give you another example. Guardians in ToT isn't happening at DHS because WDW management didn't want to take down ToT at DHS since it has so much down already and WDW didn't want to allocate more money towards that project when their money could be used in other areas.

Agree with you ...

But on last part it could be a change of plans occurred, and that could be a variety of reasons, even the complaints about the weight and bulkiness of the costumes in FL weather. We just don't know.

Yeah, it is certainly possible that this was planned and then some other costs or considerations came into play making it less feasible. I'm just not buying the DL team vetoing this. I have worked in executive management for 2 global corporations for 19 years. Neither of these corporations would have allowed a team from one division to make a decision that would hurt the corporation.

So, let me amend my statement. If the move of this parade/show to WDW makes sense, it would happen no matter what the DL team wants. That I can say with 100% certainty. Now, the DL team could have convinced upper management that it did not make sense, but the decision would still not be theirs.

Agree completely.

I think this would have been true under their old OneDisney policy where everything was done for the good of the Company. That is no longer the case. The parks are more independent than people realize therefore I do believe that of WDW wanted PTN and DL said no, that it wouldn't have gone any higher than that. DL paid for it out of their budget and just like MSEP, it's the property of DL and they can't be forced to send it just like WDW can't force DL to let them keep MSEP.

For those interested in Rivers of Light watch for the week of October 16th...

Super cool! That is 2 weeks before my trip. Can't believe RoL is actually a possibility.

Thanks for all you do, rteetz... and thanks for the heads up. :)

At AK on the 21st. These recent timeline rumors are making it hard to keep the hope in check

This!! First trip to Disney in almost 10 years. 10/21 is our tentative AK day. I had zero hope ROL would be open for our visit. Now I am trying to squelch that glimmer from rising to the surface.
