More encouraging news re: Rivers of Light

I can't wait!!!! I have been looking forward to ROL for months. DH and I saw JB and our assessment was it was.....OK. It was fun, the songs were well done, the dancing alternated between good choreography and something that caused a reaction of "oh my god, I'm so sorry they make you do that", the floats were meh, and the water screens didn't always seem to be working well enough to see what the image was supposed to be but that may have just been an issue with our seats and the angle we were viewing the screen from. I'm glad we saw it but we don't think it was worth the hour long wait. I'm hoping ROL will be better.

They are definitely gearing up to show it. If you look it up under entertainment in MDE now, it shows up as having Fastpass. You can't select it for FP because no times come up available, but I've been checking it every day and the FP option being visible is new.

This happened in the spring for the A&E M&G. In the month or so before it opened - for about a day there was the FP logo on the attraction description page...but it's never been a FP attraction.

Can only hope that we could get a chance to see ROL. pixiedust: Have two AK days, Oct 15th and probably 17th too.

I've hear the term and understand soft opening, but how do you find out that info?
Is it not announced and you just have to be at the park on the right day and time?
I'll have to go back and look on MDE and fastpasses.

As I understand it, the show is physically ready right now. It will depend on management's desire to get things going, and Operations' requirements for getting things in place. (I also suspect Marketing will be involved, one way or another.)

I'm hoping to that it might happen next week, if not I'll hear about it from all of you!

Basically, yes

We'll be in the area during the first week of October, but I doubt if RoL will be up and running by then. Does anyone know why AK is closing early (6:00pm) on October 6th?

hours for the parks and have been wacky all year and seem to firm up around the 15-17th of hte month before. I don't think the final hours are posted yet for october.

It's the Studios that closes at 6:00 PM on 10/6, not AK. AK is scheduled to be open until 8:30 PM on 10/6.

This is very encouraging news! I was very upset that this didn't debut this summer for the two trips I was going on. I'll be there next week, but I don't know Disney to all of a sudden open something, so I'm not getting my hopes up. I'll hope to see it at Christmas if it is up and running by then. Thanks for the info!

disney had pie on their face when they scheduled a press night and couldn't show it and kept the press event with what sounded like just the projection part of a small part of the show. I think this is going to be a quiet launch one night and then hitting social media saying it debuted and now opened.. It's going to be a nail on their coffin if they do it any other way and it doens't work again..

Jungle book did not make up.

Maybe, just maybe they might use it for a dvc night but they just had one without it (I've been wondering if they hoped to show it as a surprise since they were seen testing one of the floats during it). MAybe AP holders only with short announcement like they did when they live streamed osbourne to have a limited but not lacking crowd.

Yeah. I see your point. I booked this trip for next week like 2 days ago, and the DVC Party was already sold out. That would be cool if they showed it.

When I saw Jungle Book for the only time, I came out of that show being really mad. I'm pretty sure I will like RoL way more than Jungle Book.

I'm honestly thinking I'm not going to like this show.. I don't really like fantasmic but I can tolerate it when others must see it. If this is no live action and all screens and lights, I'll love the technical side of the show but I don't think I'm gonig to like this one..

We've already gotten super lucky with the Muppets in Liberty Square officially opening during our trip. ROL would be icing on the cake. Fingers are crossed!
where did you find dates for when the Muppets is opening? There's no official dates on the HUB yet
