So I am having a mini CHristmas in July! Thanks to the fabulous AP rates that just came out, I was able to talk my dh into getting annual passes again AND book a concierge room at the DLH for our trip in Sept! This is a big treat for us but I also have no idea what to expect and have a few specific questions I could not get answered by doing a search of the boards.

1. Are the "free" drinks in bottles or cans and are they coke products, like at the park? Is there juice or lemonade available as my oldest hates soda? Also, do you get funny loooks if you take multiple items to take with you to the park?

2. Are snacks available all day? The official website says drinks are available all day but does not mention snacks. I have seen some people refer to bagged chips and uncrustables being available. Can anyone confirm that this is still current practice?

I am so excited but also am a huge planner/ penny pincher and this is a splurge for us so I want to know what to expect so I can plan our additional food expenses accordingly.

Hey Nicole, I am not sure what the "current" practice is but when we were there in 11/05, they do have a small fridge (hidden from view, you have to find it up by the food buffet but sort of around the corner) full of bottled water, canned soda (I think Coke, Diet Coke and Sprite), and at the time just apple juice boxes (good for a 5 yo, not so great for a teen probably)...but he could do the water. You are allowed two drinks "per visit" and therefore I felt no qualms grabbing six bevys each time we were there if I felt like it (one set for me, one set for DH, one set for DS)...in any combo. Usually waters, just since if you're lugging a drink to the parks a warm water is better than a warm soda LOL! But when we would get back to the hotel, we'd take the express elevator up to the lounge first, then grab sodas and chips, etc and go back to our room with them (there is a fridge there too) so there was always a drink on hand for us at our room as well. If you plan it right you will have plenty of food and drink in your room as well.

We brought ziploc sandwich bags from home and in the morning would eat breakfast, then bag up bagels and cream cheese and grab a couple bananas and have that as a morning snack at the parks. It worked out great.

During the day, there are a few baskets out with bags of pretzels, doritos, and the like, nothing much. There are set hours for breakfast, p.m. appetizers, and dessert. In between, just prepackaged stuff. My husband loves PBJ so he was always content with the Uncrustables. My son hates PB so the options weren't so open for his snacking.

I really like the whole concierge thing, but you get differing opinions here regarding cost vs. value. You will never, ever eat and drink your fill and "money's worth" but the time you save can be quite significant esp. for check in, breakfast and the express elevator.

Enjoy!

Thank you so much for the info. The ziploc baggies are a great idea. The uncrustables is huge plus for us as my oldest usually lives on PB & Js that we have snuck into the parks. Do you recall those being available all day?

Not too worried about money's worth since at $209 a night, it was really only $40 more than the AP rate for a view room at this time and with our family size we may actually come close to getting our money's worth! But I agree with you, we are doing it just for the experience and convenience.

Another question for anyone who might know, is the evening reception just wine or is beer available too? My hubby is not much of a wine drinker.

Thanks for all your help!

The breakfast hours features bagels, mini crossiants, all types and flavors of mini muffins, danishes, cookies. Fresh fruit and cereal.

Is there a microwave for guest use in the Concierge lounge at the DLH? It would be sweet if there was :)

I am pretty sure the Uncrustables were out all day. Basically any prepackaged snack food sits out in little baskets, and since they are prepackaged...all the prepared foods or buffet style things are only out during hours where there is extra staff there to monitor the empty trays, heat the food, etc.

I can't remember seeing a micro, but it is possible based on packaged oatmeals, etc.
