Swan and Dolphin are out. I've tried every which way and there are no discounts available on our days, and while some may come up, I don't think I want to deal with that.

1. WL for the last two nights.

2. POR the last two nights, throwing in two rental cars for the group.

2. Pop Century for the last two nights, throwing in two rental cars and more character breakfasts, events, etc. (Drawback is that the only person who really wants to stay there is Three Caballeros-obsessed dd, who will be 4 at the time.)

Someone decide for me. At this point my family would be happy if I told them were were staying in the bathrooms at the nearest Wal-Mart if it meant I would experiment with topics of conversation other than this trip for a few days. :mickeybar (Doesn't that look yummy right now?)

TIA

BTW, let me add that by saying dh is not a theme park guy at all, I mean that he has the lowest coping skills in terms of complications. Think of him as the guy on the planning DVD who just likes to chill (and basically drinks his way through WDW, lol!) He is VERY excited about the trip and the parks, he just likes things as uncomplicated as possible. This is more important to him than what soaps are in the room, etc.

Thanks for the help, and thanks for taking a newbie and making her a mouseketeer. After this, I'll have to either spend money on post-trip depression therapy or....ANOTHER TRIP!!!!!!!!!! :teeth:

If it were me, I'd pick the WL for the last two nights, steping down from a villa to a deluxe is easier than a villa to a mod, plus transfering would be a snap.

But if the rental cars are a big deal, there is nothing wrong with POR. I personally wouldn't do PoP, but because I'd never stay at any value if I could help it. Going from a great big villa to and ity bity Value room might be a bit much...

Any of your choices would work fine. It all depends on how nice you want those last two nights to be. Most people suggest that you end your stay with the nicer resort. I'm one of those who doesn't care. If it really doesn't matter, stay at a value and have some nice meals. The kids will love the theming. Who do you want to make happy? POR is a good choice. Nice pool area. Sit-down restaurant for the adults. Decent food court. Nice lounge area. Rooms are a scooch bigger than the values. Since you will have been at WL already I would suggest a different resort. But, for heaven's sake woman...make a choice...stop driving your poor family nuts. Talk about something other than this trip. Yeah, sure...like I could follow my own advice!! :rotfl: My job is to drive all in the area nuts with my obsessive planning. Carry on!

I would look at going with WL.
1 - You are already *there*. Makes checkout/checkin easier. You keep all your location/deluxe hotel perks.
2 - After staying at VWL - POR would be a huge step down, and Pop would be a bigger one. Personally, I would rather do an upgrade than a downgrade. Especially coming from a villa.

Although the $$$ savings might make it worth it. It would be a difficult decision. But for a trip like that (anniversary celebration), I would probably take the deluxe option.

JMHO, YMMV

Hi Lisa,

Now take a deep breath, find a few roses to smell, and stand back and remember you are going on a family vacation. Have been following your ups and downs and think it is a shame you can't book the Swan/Dolphin - a great location to be at. Have to agree with your DH and Dave in the DVD about how to do WDW. Make a few PS's, decide where you want to go, when, and with who and let the rest of the time fill in by itself. The last two trips we made (2003, 2004 with family) we all had a most magical time, hardly ever watching the clock!

Personally, since you did ask for help, I would suggest POR for the last two nights. You would be able to enjoy Bob Jackson (believe Wed.-Sat.) at the lounge there and the boat to DTD is a real nice evening ride. Good food at Boatwright's also. We don't see any need for a car while on-site at WDW, but realise that is a personal choice. Had a car there there one time when we drove, and needed a jump-start when we left - never used it.

Hope you decide soon so you can re-channel your conversations! Whatever you decide, we know you will have a fantastic trip!! Have fun!!!

It's tougher to go to a value immediately following a deluxe. You are already there and it would be more relaxing to not have to switch gears mid trip! Enjoy! you'll have a blast! :flower:

I would want a change. If you stay at the WL then you will only be getting a smaller room with no changes in the environment. I would go to POR but if you can afford a delux for the last 2 nights why not go to the CR or Poly? That would give you a big change and put you right on the monorail where you are so close to the Magic Kingdom that you can watch the fireworks and see the Castle. It would feel like you are getting 2 vacations in 1. Hopefully the change in scenery would be enough distraction to keep you from noticing so much the fact that you were not staying in a villa anymore.

I think I have read that you are renting points for your stay. We are also moving due to the high point costs on the weekend. But I was wondering, have you tried to rent the same room from CRO? We decided to go with BC the weekend after VWL to get some time in the EPCOT area.

Finally! We decided to go with POR. My mom really wanted to stay there at some point, and we really think it will be nice. After VWL, we'd like to try something else.

Ultimately, it came down to budget. We are already getting a fantastic room for 5 nights, and we would love to stay Deluxe the last two, but we'd sacrifice a few character dinners and extras if we did. And I think we'd regret that in the long run.

Thanks for all the help! I'm so glad I'm done with this phase of the planning!!!

Lisa
