More construction walls @ Animal Kingdom

I know this sounds like a really silly thing to say There's an awful lot of construction going on across WDW at the moment, it's starting to look like a permanent building site. Is there any dates that all of this will be completed across all parks?

Probably never, something will always be under construction of refurbishment.

Man, looking at the pictures makes me sad. We're leaving for WDW in about 2 weeks and we don't plan on going to HS or AK in our short 4 day trip. It seems like the magic is lost when there's that large amount of the park covered in walls.

Leaving WDW tomorrow :sad2:, and we didn't go to AK or HS. But when are the new additions to AK and HS scheduled to be completed by? Also when is that new Frozen ride set to debut?

Rivers of light the new nighttime show will open in AK in 2016
Avatar in AK 2017
DHS has nothing scheduled at this moment just rumors. The hat will be gone in a couple weeks tho.
Frozen ride and meet and greet in Norway set to open 2016

We went to AK a month ago for the first time in 3 trips, and it was walls walls walls. I pointed that out on another thread and some poster told me I was crazy, that they were just there, and didn't see any walls. :confused3

Trust me. They are everywhere. We aren't going back until they open Pandora or DD is tall enough to ride EE. Whichever comes first.

I was there this past week. While yes there are walls everywhere it didn't bother me all that much. There was still good crowd flow for the most part and everything was open as normal so I don't really see the problem.

I think the point of view of different people about the walls depends on what people seem to enjoy most about going to Disney and maybe even the visitor's age. We are "empty nesters" now and our reasons for going are a lot different than 40 years ago when we had small children. Back then, it was go, go, go to get in as many rides as possible. Then, when the kids got old enough to tour on their own, my wife and I started to slow down and enjoy the "ambiance" of the parks and even Downtown Disney. We began to ride less and less. We made five trips between Nov 2012 and May 2014. With the exception of the last trip in 2014, all our trips were between 10 an 14 days. The May 2014 trip lasted only four days, and that includes the two travel days there and back. We decided then, that we were going to wait a couple years before returning because of all the walls obstructing the views. Thinking back to the Nov 2013 trip, I think we only rode about six rides and those were the old classics, People Mover and Carousel of Progress. I will be close to 70 in two years and hope we will still be mobile enough to do our leisurely strolls through the parks and take in the views. But right now, there is no reason for us to go back.

I didn't say it bothered me, I said there were walls everywhere. We just aren't going back until DD is taller or Pandora opens up because there are other things we'd rather do.

I understand your point. To me I like the walls it means something new is coming. I like looking at the construction. I thrive for those photo updates of construction sites. I especially love AK it is one of the most beautiful Disney parks in the world.

I agree there were walls every where it is like a tunnel after you pass over the bridge. Very unattractive. I even commented to my husband about it...
MK was not much better and DTD is not much better. It is really hard walking around down there. It is not too much of a fun place anymore with different things happening. :worried:

Why wasn't MK better the only place with walls really is the hub every other area is clear. DTD I would say is the worst of all of them.

I don't like the look of the walls but to me it all means progress and I love progress lol

Do we know when those walls near the tree are supposed to come down. When I was there in September a CM told me the walls in front of the tree were supposed to come down in November....

Some areas were pushed back but discovery island is getting a lot of work to accommodate large crowds when rivers of light and avatar open.

I am getting the impression there are so many construction walls up at AK? Was thinking about a vacation to Florida 2015 or early 2016, but might be worth delaying maybe?

There are always going to be walls at one park or another. Everything at AK is open except flame tree and pizzafari at the moment. I was just there and the walls didn't bother me.

Some are saying that the walls are unpleasant and it becomes much like walking through tunnels. I'm wondering exactly where the new nighttime show will be? I don't see why the pathways between Africa and Asia would have so much construction. What exactly are they installing that affects the pathways so much?

I'm like a few others here in that I appreciate AK for the ambience. Is that still to be found anywhere? We decided to skip DHS due to construction but now I'm wondering if AK is worse.
