More bad news

Sent my Pentax DA*55mm f1.4 in for repair 7 weeks ago and was assured that it would be ready in time for my trip... just found out today that it won't be... that lens is my workhorse! Worst thing is the repair bill is $$$, so I don't want to rent one and can buy a new one while having to pay for the old one... guess my kits going to get heavier

That sucks! What other primes do you have? Do you walk around with a zoom at WDW? One things for sure, Pentax primes are surely expensive. I mainly use the FA43 which is awesome and I just bought a used DA15. I sold my Tamron 17-50 to pick up the DA15. I figured I'll just walk around with the 18-55WR on my upcoming trip.

I have only older m and a's. I also have the dfa 50 mm macro f2.8. But the 55 was my fastest. I live how it renders the oof areas.

That really does stink. 7 weeks seems like a crazy long time. I'm neurotic about doing stuff long in advance of a trip in case of problems, but even I would have sent something in 7 weeks out and not have anticipated a problem.

I'll give you the standard DIS answer. "At least you're going to Disney, so all is well in the world".

OK, you didn't fall for that did you? Disney without your favorite lens just isn't the same.

Well there is a bright side to the story. I bought a new lens! Not the best but at least its not redundant, but its only good on APSC, Sigma 30mm f1.4
It fills a small void in my lens line up :0

I had the Sigma 30 but I just couldn't get it to focus consistently on my K-5II or IIs. When it hit the focus spot on, it put out awesome pics with great bokeh at 1.4. I was waiting for the new Art series in Pentax mount but you know how that goes. Pentax will be the last to get it.

So far I love this lens, when it wasn't raining it was mounted!
