I'm trying to crunch the numbers to make sure the AP is really the better deal (or at least equal to regular price) for our very short US stay-just one night and two days. Already I figure we'll save almost $60 on one hotel night alone, so I need to come up with another $20-$30 to make it worth while. I can't count on a second trip within a year, so I'm trying to figure out if it would be reasonable for this trip alone.

Is there any advantage to purchasing the AP on-line (for regular tickets it says you save $20 over gate price-is that true for an AP, too?) since you just get the voucher that needs to be activated at the park anyway?

Can you upgrade a regular ticket to an AP? I would assume you would get the value you paid for the regular ticket and just pay the difference?

Do you get free self-parking at the hotels, too, with an AP? How much does that parking cost?

If I buy an AP and want to buy my DH a normal park ticket, I would have to do that at the window since my AP wouldn't be activated until we got there, right? After the AP is activated, is it possible to buy a ticket with the on-line discount PLUS the 15% discount??? If so, would this work? DH has a "smart phone" with internet. Could I activate my AP, then use his phone to purchase a ticket on-line (with the $20 on-line discount, plus the AP discount)? We wouldn't be able to print the ticket-is there a way to get his ticket without printing it before presenting it? And would it be available IMMEDIATELY?

If we decide to do HHN, I would have to buy the tickets there for the discount, right? What are the chances that Thursday Sept. 29 or Sunday Oct. 2 would be sold out?

With an AP, multiday tickets are 15% off. You cannot combine discounts so purchasing online with the $20 off may be a better deal than the 15% off gate prices -- you'll have to do the math. You can upgrade a single day ticket. There is no free parking at the hotels

Remember you also get 10% off most food and merchandise . So this helps on the savings.

It's the same price at the gate or online. The best thing about online is you can put all your info in an have it paid. Then when you arrive you only need to show ID and your CC it was paid on.

Yes you can.

No parking at the hotels are not included with the AP. The parking is $15 for self and $21 for valet both plus tax per night.

Yes you would have to wait until you pick up your AP in order to buy extra tickets. You can buy them at the same time as you are picking up the AP, at the same window, just tell them. But you cannot get the discount plus the online discount, it one or the other.

This last question I have no idea since I have never been. We might try this year since the AP gives you a good discount on HHN tickets.

All the answers are in red above.:thumbsup2

There's very little chance the tickets would be sold out the first full weekend but you can use your AP to get discounts on HHN tickets. You would need to do it at the park unless you're going to make a trip prior to activate your AP. If not, you would need to do any HHN discounts at the park.

A few other questions:
  • If only one member of our party has an AP, can that be applied to all of our restaurant purchases, or just the AP holder?
  • Anybody know the actual gate price for multi-day park passes (trying to figure out if 15% off is less or more than $20 off from online)?
  • How does the Blue Man group discount work if my AP hasn't been activated yet? (if at all)
Thanks!

One AP per party will give you discounts for the group. To figure out the AP price, just take the online price and add $20. Then multiply by .85. You will also have to add tax at the end and it is .065%

I think the Blue Man group will just give you the discount whether or not it has been activated.

I'm crunching numbers, too. DW surprised me last night and showed interest in renewing. Of course the release of a certain movie this week isn't hurting her desire to return.

I think you mean "add" here. ;)

Yup, sorry. The $20 has already been subtracted, so of course you add. I'll edit to avoid confusion.
