By the time we were finished with dinner, the rain had let up a bit, so Buzz and I headed to Fantasyland. Since it was nearby, the Mad Tea Party was briefly discussed, but I didnt feel like doing any spinning right after eating and suggested seeing a show instead. Mickeys Philharmagic was an obvious choice.
As usual, there wasnt too much of a wait, so we breezed past the posters in the queue. One of these days, Id really like to stop and let people pass me so I can get some better pictures of these posters. I think its cool that they use so many of the lesser-seen characters in the park in them like the Three Little Pigs and the Big Bad Wolf. Once we got to the holding area, we just had to grab our 3D glasses wait a few minutes for the show to start. It was enjoyable, as always.
After the movie was over, we discovered that the rain had started up again. Trying to think of something nearby and dry to do, we headed over to Snow Whites Scary Adventures.
A glimpse at the Fantasyland in the rain from the Snow White queue. It may not be perfect conditions, but I have to admit I like the way the reflection of the Carousel looks in the puddles.
Snow White really isnt the greatest attraction in the park, but its got some charm which I like, at least. There are rumors going around right now that this attraction might actually be closing and that a bigger Snow White ride will be replacing the Cinderella and Aurora meet-and-greet attractions in the Fantasyland expansion. No word on if this is true or not, but I certainly wouldnt mind if it was true. It sounds like it could be more exciting than the ride they have now and the plans they had for dancing with Cinderella and making birthday cards for Sleeping Beauty.
The rain was a downpour by now, so we put on our ponchos and headed to the Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh. The line here was a bit longer than Philharmagic and Snow White, but still not too bad. At least we were out of the rain. By now, I was starting to worry about our plans to see the Electrical Parade. The rain didnt seem to be letting up. After the ride, we tried to think up another nearby place where we could get out of the rain for a while. The closest we could think of was the County Bounty store at Toontown, so we headed over there. I considered getting in line at the Hall of Fame, but wasnt really interested in meeting any Princesses or Pixies, let alone stand in a 30-50 minute line full of cranky and wet kids and parents. Instead, we looked around the shop.
I hadnt seen these displays in the store the last few times I had been there. I believe they had been replaced by some Tinker Bell and Princess displays. I think these are so much better though and fit the Toontown Fair theme so well.
While we were browsing the shop, a CM came in and announced that the 9pm Electrical Parade had been cancelled and that the status of the Summer Nightastic Fireworks and 11pm Parade were undecided. After a while, the rain began to let up a little to the point where we decided to make a break for Main Street. If the rain stopped, we would be in a good place for the fireworks, and if it didnt, wed be close to the exit. We continued looking through the shops there, trying to kill time until the fireworks.
After a while, I got tired of looking through shops, so I found a covered spot on the little side street across from the Emporium and sat down for a while. It turned out to be very pleasant. I enjoyed taking in the entire atmosphere, listening to the wonderful background music and the sounds of the music and dance lessons that comes down from the second story windows and feeling far away from the crowds. It wasnt anything like I imagined the evening would be, but it really was wonderful.
A little before the Summer Nightastic fireworks were scheduled to start, Buzz and I headed to Main Street to find a spot to watch them. As we were waiting, two large lightning bolts struck, making the appearance of a giant lightning X behind Cinderella Castle. After that, I figured that there wouldnt be any fireworks that night. As Buzz and I headed for the exit, they made the announcement that the fireworks had been postponed due to weather and might be cancelled. Im pretty sure that they ended up cancelling them since I know from past experience that you can see and hear the fireworks from everywhere we were the rest of the night between the bus stop and our room at Coronado and we never saw and heard a thing. We were a little bummed about missing the fireworks and parade, but figured that we had seen both of them before (the Electrical Parade years ago and the fireworks at the Pirate and Princess Party) and could come back some other time to try to see at least the Electrical Parade again.
When we got back to the room, we caught up with our friend Goofy who had spent the day at his convention, which we said that he enjoyed. Along with the convention, we also enjoyed the dining options at the Coronado including breakfast and dinner at the Maya Grill and lunch at the Pepper Market. He said that the Maya Grill was expensive but good. He liked Pepper Market as well. He really enjoyed the fact that they have servers that can get your food and drink for you instead of just having to get it yourself like most food courts.
It had been a long day, so we dried off and got some sleep.
