More Adventures in WDW: June, November and December Trip Reports

Hi Meeko!

Love the 'space' oufits, especially Goofy and Chip n' Dale! Never seen those before, really cool.

Hope the rain didn't put too much of a dampner on things.

The space outfits were new to us too, and I think they were my favorite party of the dance party.

By the time we were finished with dinner, the rain had let up a bit, so Buzz and I headed to Fantasyland. Since it was nearby, the Mad Tea Party was briefly discussed, but I didn’t feel like doing any spinning right after eating and suggested seeing a show instead. Mickey’s Philharmagic was an obvious choice.

fantasylandrain1-600.jpg

As usual, there wasn’t too much of a wait, so we breezed past the posters in the queue. One of these days, I’d really like to stop and let people pass me so I can get some better pictures of these posters. I think it’s cool that they use so many of the lesser-seen characters in the park in them like the Three Little Pigs and the Big Bad Wolf. Once we got to the holding area, we just had to grab our 3D glasses wait a few minutes for the show to start. It was enjoyable, as always.

After the movie was over, we discovered that the rain had started up again. Trying to think of something nearby and dry to do, we headed over to Snow White’s Scary Adventures.

fantasylandrain2-600.jpg

A glimpse at the Fantasyland in the rain from the Snow White queue. It may not be perfect conditions, but I have to admit I like the way the reflection of the Carousel looks in the puddles.

fantasylandrain3-6002.jpg

Snow White really isn’t the greatest attraction in the park, but it’s got some charm which I like, at least. There are rumors going around right now that this attraction might actually be closing and that a bigger Snow White ride will be replacing the Cinderella and Aurora meet-and-greet attractions in the Fantasyland expansion. No word on if this is true or not, but I certainly wouldn’t mind if it was true. It sounds like it could be more exciting than the ride they have now and the plans they had for dancing with Cinderella and making birthday cards for Sleeping Beauty.

The rain was a downpour by now, so we put on our ponchos and headed to the Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh. The line here was a bit longer than Philharmagic and Snow White, but still not too bad. At least we were out of the rain. By now, I was starting to worry about our plans to see the Electrical Parade. The rain didn’t seem to be letting up. After the ride, we tried to think up another nearby place where we could get out of the rain for a while. The closest we could think of was the County Bounty store at Toontown, so we headed over there. I considered getting in line at the Hall of Fame, but wasn’t really interested in meeting any Princesses or Pixies, let alone stand in a 30-50 minute line full of cranky and wet kids and parents. Instead, we looked around the shop.

toontownshop1-600.jpg

I hadn’t seen these displays in the store the last few times I had been there. I believe they had been replaced by some Tinker Bell and Princess displays. I think these are so much better though and fit the Toontown Fair theme so well.

toontownshop2-600.jpg

While we were browsing the shop, a CM came in and announced that the 9pm Electrical Parade had been cancelled and that the status of the Summer Nightastic Fireworks and 11pm Parade were undecided. After a while, the rain began to let up a little to the point where we decided to make a break for Main Street. If the rain stopped, we would be in a good place for the fireworks, and if it didn’t, we’d be close to the exit. We continued looking through the shops there, trying to kill time until the fireworks.

mainstreetnight-600.jpg

After a while, I got tired of looking through shops, so I found a covered spot on the little side street across from the Emporium and sat down for a while. It turned out to be very pleasant. I enjoyed taking in the entire atmosphere, listening to the wonderful background music and the sounds of the “music and dance lessons” that comes down from the second story windows and feeling far away from the crowds. It wasn’t anything like I imagined the evening would be, but it really was wonderful.

A little before the Summer Nightastic fireworks were scheduled to start, Buzz and I headed to Main Street to find a spot to watch them. As we were waiting, two large lightning bolts struck, making the appearance of a giant lightning “X” behind Cinderella Castle. After that, I figured that there wouldn’t be any fireworks that night. As Buzz and I headed for the exit, they made the announcement that the fireworks had been postponed due to weather and might be cancelled. I’m pretty sure that they ended up cancelling them since I know from past experience that you can see and hear the fireworks from everywhere we were the rest of the night between the bus stop and our room at Coronado and we never saw and heard a thing. We were a little bummed about missing the fireworks and parade, but figured that we had seen both of them before (the Electrical Parade years ago and the fireworks at the Pirate and Princess Party) and could come back some other time to try to see at least the Electrical Parade again.

When we got back to the room, we caught up with our friend Goofy who had spent the day at his convention, which we said that he enjoyed. Along with the convention, we also enjoyed the dining options at the Coronado including breakfast and dinner at the Maya Grill and lunch at the Pepper Market. He said that the Maya Grill was expensive but good. He liked Pepper Market as well. He really enjoyed the fact that they have servers that can get your food and drink for you instead of just having to get it yourself like most food courts.

It had been a long day, so we dried off and got some sleep.

Next chapter: Our last day begins with Toy Story Mania

That's too bad that you missed the parade and fireworks but it sounds like you really made the best of your night.

I love that little side street with the dance and music lesson soundtrack. It's such a nice place to relax and enjoy the magic. :goodvibes

Thats too bad you missed both the parade and the fireworks. But at least you have seen them before. I am not too excited to see that parade. I jsut love Spectro. It was thee when I took my older 2 when they were little and again when I have taken my youngest, so it just seems so special and magical to me. We might be going in Dec, and I am not sure we will even watch it. I guess it depends highly on what is going on that day and if we aren't too busy. I would plan days around Spectro, but with this on, I just can't get excited. I watched it on youtube and I really did NOT like the music.

I really like the picture of the carousel with the lights reflecting in the puddle :thumbsup2

I'm sorry to hear that the evening didn't go as planned but glad you had a wonderful time regardless :goodvibes

Awww bummer for missing out on the parade, but a fun night was still had!! I really like your pictures, some of those things I have never noticed before but thanks you to I now have!!

I adore Philharmagic!!!

Bummer about the fireworks and parade. But as you said, at least you'd already seen both of them.

PhilharMagic is one of my favorites. A goal of mine is to just explore the line and look at all the posters. I don't think I've seen the one you took a picture of.

Sometimes I think those unexpected early nights are really nice and relaxing.

I also really like the picture of the carrousel. I love how it looks all lit up.

That is interesting about Snow White and the possible changes. I hadn't heard that. Guess we'll have to see what all happens with the Fantasyland stuff.

Bummer about the parade/fireworks but atleast you had seen them both before.

Yeah, I was a little bummed about missing the night entertainment, but I really did enjoy getting to relax on Main Street. I'm still trying to figure out when to go back to Magic Kingdom again though to see the parade- hopefully a less rainy time of year.

If you've never seen the Electrical Parade before, I would reccommend giving it a try. It may be my nostalga talking, but I like it a lot more than Spectro- music included. I think it's really enchanting and fun. Andif you don't want to wait for the parade, see if you can go on the TTA during the parade time. Seeing all of the floats lined up on Main Street from the TTA is probably one of the most beautiful things I can recall seeing at Disney.

Thanks Dawn. The rest of the day was so practically perfect that it would have really been a shame if the rain had ruined it. I'm glad it didn't.

I adore Philharmagic!!!

I'm always glad to know that the photos help to point out new things. It just goes to show how much cool details are in these parks.

Sometimes I think those unexpected early nights are really nice and relaxing.

One of these days, I really need to explore more of the Philharmagic queue. Usually, I only manage to snap a quick photo or two as we pass, but I'd love to spend more time there and see all of them.

In the end, I think leaving a little early probably helped us out. If we had stayed out in the park until closing, I'm not sure we would have been quite so energetic the next day to get to rope drop for Toy Story Mania.

Thanks Sarah.

I really wish that they would announce all the Fantasyland changes besides just the teaser that they're re-evaluating the meet-and-greets and Pixie Hollow. I thought they might at the big announcement for the "Memories" campaign last week, but they didn't. I'm so curious as to what Fantasyland is finally going to be when completed.

Bummer you missed the parade and fireworks.

I love to sit on that side street during the day and watch people rush by :thumbsup2

That side street really was nice. I tend to be the type that doesn't do a lot of relaxing and people watching in the parks so it was a nice change of pace.

The next morning, Buzz and I again woke up early to get ready. It was our last day of the trip, but the plan was for Buzz, Goofy and I to spend the day at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Along with preparing for the day, we also began clearing out the room as well. Buzz and I packed as many of the bags as we could into the car while Goofy called for the bell service to get and store some of his bags and equipment from the conference. He was really impressed with the bell staff and said that they went above and beyond to help him out.

Goofy didn’t really want to get to the park for rope drop, but said that he would get there at 9:30 and meet us at the Tower of Terror. Around 8am, Buzz and I headed to the bus stop and soon were on our way to Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

dhsentrance1-600.jpg

The billboard just outside the entrance was promoting the American Idol Experience.

dhsentrance2-600.jpg

As you can see, the rain storms of the night before had all disappeared, and it was looking like it was going to be a beautiful day.

dhsentrance3-600.jpg

Once the crowds starting building up, we got in line at the entrance. While we waited, we watched some of the American Idol crew warming up the crowd and looking for auditions and took the opportunity to try to get some pictures of the Mickey statue on Crossroads of the World.

dhsentrance4-600.jpg

After a while, the crowd was let though the gates and onto Hollywood Boulevard.

dhsentrance5-600.jpg

I love all the art deco architecture at the Studios.

dhsentrance6-600.jpg

dhsentranceshow1-600.jpg

Soon, a few of the Citizens of Hollywood came out to give us our motivation and line for our first scene of the day. “Hollywood here we come!”

dhsentranceshow2-600.jpg

dhsentranceshow3-600.jpg

dhsarch-600.jpg

Following the massive crowd, we went through the arch and to PIXAR Place to ride Toy Story Midway Mania.

tsm1-600.jpg

The Green Army Man directed the guests up to the queue.

tsm2-600.jpg

The Line moved pretty fast, so I didn’t get a whole lot of opportunities to get photos (not that I’m complaining), but I did manage to get a couple of shots which, coincidentally, both put the spotlight on Mr. Potato Head.

tsm3-600.jpg

The ride was great, as usual. I did ok, but Buzz beat me, which usually happens. This was also our first time on Toy Story Mania since all the new characters from Toy Story 3 were added, so that was neat to see.

sorcerershat-600.jpg

After our ride, it was almost 9:30, so we headed towards Sunset Boulevard to meet up with Goofy.

totmorning1-600.jpg

Goofy made it just when he said he would, and the three of us got in line for the Tower of Terror. The wait wasn’t too bad. I believe it was listed as 15 minutes, but didn’t seem that long.

totmorning2-600.jpg

This was Goofy’s first time at Hollywood Studios and the Tower of Terror was the only ride that he requested we definitely ride, so I was hoping that he would like it. Turns out he did! Because it was Summer Nightastic, they also had a few changes and new effects in the ride. I wasn’t too fond of the added star effects in the 5th dimension room (I thought what was usually there was better), but the ghostly photo of the car that would change was pretty cool. The rest of the ride was fantastic. This is without question my favorite ride in the Disney World- so much fun.

Next chapter: Character meet-and-greets including Lotso

Isn't it a great feeling to wake up to those beautiful blue skies?! :)

You must have been really close to the rope drop show because you got some great pictures :thumbsup2

Glad Goofy enjoyed his first ride on ToT. I hope the fun keeps up as your day goes on :goodvibes

Love those blue skies! Hope it stays that way for you!

Glad Goofy liked ToT. DH was really reluctant to go, but now he loves it!

Awwww...I just love DHS!! By far one of my favorite parks!!!!

I think the new effects would be the thing that would get me back onto TOT!!! I enjoy that ride been on it a few times but the last few trips I have chickened out LOL!!! I wonder if the ride is back to normal now?? YAY for Goofy liking it!!! :thumbsup2

I was so glad to see those blue skies. Rain wouldn't have ruined any of our plans for the day since all of our must-do's were inside, but I always love to see Disney with those bright blue skies more than anything else.

We weren't really that close to the front but weren't in the back either. Actually, only the first picture was taken during the actual show. The other two were taken as we passed by the streemosphere performers just after the show as we walked to Toy Story Mania.

I figured Goofy would like TOT since he said that he's such a thrill seeker. I'm glad he liked it.

I was really hoping those blue skies would stay, but this was summer in Florida so...

I was the same way as your DH. I wasn't sure about it at all at first, but now it's my favorite. You just never know.

I love DHS too. I think it's second only to MK for me.

I think the new effects were just for summer, although I could be wrong.

After the Tower of Terror, Buzz, Goofy and I headed next door to the Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster. The line was a little longer than we wanted to wait at the moment, so we got Fastpasses for later. Once we all had Fastpasses in hand, Goofy and Buzz headed back to the Tower of Terror for another ride while I decided to go find some characters.

poohpiglet1-600.jpg

The first stop was the Sorcerer’s Hat Courtyard to see Pooh and Piglet.

poohpiglet2-600.jpg

It was great getting to see Piglet since I hadn’t seen him out in years.

piglet-auto-600.jpg

Another new autograph for the trip.

After Pooh and Piglet, I headed on to the Magic of Disney Animation in hopes of getting to see Lotso early just in case he got long lines later in the day. I really didn’t want to take any chances of having to stand in another line for 40+ minutes like I did when the UP characters were at the Animation building at Christmas.

moda2-600.jpg

I passed on doing the movie with Mushu and just went in the entrance for the character area. On the way in, there’s a courtyard that most people seem to pass right by. If you stop and take a look, you’ll find hand prints and “pencil prints” of some of the animators from Disney’s golden age in the 30s, 40s and 50s, including a number of some of Walt’s most trusted animators, the “Nine Old Men”.

moda1-600.jpg

moda3-600.jpg

Once I got to the Toy Story 3 meet-and-greet area, Lotso wasn’t scheduled to be out for a couple of minutes so I took the opportunity to take a few pictures of the location while it was empty.

moda4-600.jpg

The whole queue was themed to the Sunnyside Daycare Center and was really well done.

moda5-600.jpg

The view out the “window” at the entrance to Sunnyside.

moda6-600.jpg

The Playground.

moda7-600.jpg

Some of the pictures of the toys as drawn by some of the kids at Sunnyside. The movie had just come out and we hadn’t gotten a chance to see it yet, so I wasn’t too familiar with the new toys yet, but I wanted to get some pictures of some of my favorites from the previews. Here’s Mr. Pricklepants trying to stay in character.

moda8-600.jpg

Trixie the dinosaur.

moda9-600.jpg

Woody.

moda10-600.jpg

After Lotso arrived for the day, I had about a 10 minute wait. Lotso doesn’t seem to be nearly as popular as the UP characters last year. A lot of parents in line who had already seen the movie didn’t seemed surprised that Lotso was the character they picked to do meet-and-greets. He didn’t seem to phase the kids at all though. In fact, the only negative response to him was from a parent who intensely refused to let their little boy meet him because he was pink because it was “a girl’s color”. :confused3

moda11-600.jpg

Lotso was charming and sweet without a sign at all of the Lotso we come to know by the end of the film (I won’t go into any spoilers for the sake of readers who haven’t seen the movie yet).

lotsoauto-600.jpg

Lotso’s autograph.

After meeting Lotso, I still had some time left until Buzz and Goofy were done with the Tower of Terror, so I looked around the Animation building for a while.

moda12-600.jpg

A poster for Tangled on display. I’m really hoping this turns out to be good. The trailers have looked a little lame, but I’ve been hearing some good buzz about it. I still wished that they had called in Rapunzel though. Tangled just seems like a silly name for it.

moda13-600.jpg

One of the displays of artwork from Toy Story 3.

moda14-6002.jpg

I tried the “Which Character Are You” computers again and ended up getting Tarzan. I really can’t figure out any similarities between me and the guy who was raised by apes and swings on vines all the time, so I’m not sure where they were coming from.

Next chapter: A fun catastrophe

I never noticed that area with the tribute to the animator's. Thanks for sharing that and I'll be sure and look for it next year. :thumbsup2

Great pictures of the Lotso queue. I thought that area was adorable. :) We had a really good time with Lotso when we met him. He was a lot of fun (although I missed Dug )

I agree that Tangled should have been called Rapunzel but I read they were hoping by changing the name it would appeal more to boys :confused3 Regardless of the name, I'm hoping it's a good movie :)

My favorite thing about Lotso is his eyebrows! They are so cute. :lmao:

I'm looking forward to Tangled, I have high hopes for it!
