Lynette-- the recalled ones were any with magnets in them. We had to send some back, some did have the magnets lost out of them. Babies and kids were swallowing the tiny magnets. I guess it does a number on your insides if swallowed.

We have a shoe box full of Polly Pockets. It is the little shoes I find everywhere.

Celery-- good call to hide from the founder in your hoody. Do you have a dress code there?

NAB, yep...we did have some of the recalled ones. Like I said, they went *poof* one night after the girl went to bed. She used to call them "sticky Pollys" because the magnets stuck to each other. Hee hee

Wendy, ever step on a Polly Pocket outfit in your bare feet? Freaky! Feels like squishy scariness between your toes. Yipes!

Hmm..I'm sure that your company's Big Cheese really wouldn't appreciate the Una-Bomber look in the halls of his office. Perhaps a hoodie in a less threatening color would be preferable? Or a nice cardigan?
Off the top of my head, I can definitely recommend the Lucas Davenport "Prey" series by John Sandford (Easy Prey, Invisible Prey, etc.).

Celery, my DD has all the Princess Polly Pocket-esque dolls, plus tons of the real ones. I'm always finding tiny rubber Polly dresses in nooks of the playroom. We did have some that were recalled. They mysteriously disappeared one night after the girl was in bed for the night. Heh.

I had infinite Polly Pockets growing up. And American Girl dolls. But why are the Polly Pockets so big now??? Doesn't that totally defeat the purpose?? The little boy I babysit for has tons of Polly Pockets (that's another story) and I don't understand why they're no longer pocket sized.

So I thought to myself, where can I find as many parents as possible??? Hmmmm.....the DIS boards of course! So, if anyone has time to answer these questions it would be infinitely appreciated by me. Or you could just answer one or two of them. If not, that's fine too. I'll just make up the answers.

1. Describe the environment the teacher set up for the conference. Were there things you liked/disliked? Things that made you comfortable or uncomfortable?

2. Did the teacher share specific observations of your child with you? How were these observations shared? (verbal stories, work samples?)

3. Did the teacher ask for input from you prior to the conference?

4. How long was the conference? Was this a sufficient amount of time?

Usually in the class room sitting on little chairs made for little bottoms.... I do like it in their classroom because then I get a feel for what she sees and does all day.

3. Did the teacher ask for input from you prior to the conference? Input how, usually I ask for the interview or am asked to come in to discuss something.

4. How long was the conference? Was this a sufficient amount of time? Usually 15 minutes and yes that is long enough.

5. Was there anything you would change about the conference?[/QUOTE] We usually have them after reports go home. If there isn't a problem don't make me come in to sit and stare at me and ask if I have any questions.

There you have it. I went to interviews when the kids were in Kindergarden because they didn't get report cards but I am at the school everyday and on top of what they are doing I usually don't need an interview.

No need for anyone else to answer the questions. I'm going to base my entire paper off of Celery's answers here.

I DID read back and your answers are greatly appreciated! Seriously.
In terms of asking for input prior to the conference I was considering sending a form home that the parents would fill out with their conference preference time(s) and then there would be a section for each aspect of the academic curriculum as well as spaces for things like general behaviors, attitude in the classroom, etc.

This would then be the form I would use as an outline for the conference so the parents would see it ahead of time and then there would be a space that said something to the effect of "is there anything specific you would like to discuss." That way we would make sure to get right to that at the beginning of the conference d/t the short time I'm sure we'll have. And I bet that was way more than you ever wanted to know.

When you say you would ask on a form about class room attitude are you not suppose to tell us all that at the interview? What would I have to say about any of that until I got there and you told me. I would like a place to voice why I want to talk to you so you could give me the answers and be prepared for what I might ask you. Because if I got a form full of questions I would really think that is to much work for me....and hand it to hubby

PJ, the only conferences I really remember are the ones that were for high school where we went into the gymnasium and had to line up at each teacher's table that we wanted to talk with. We mainly went to meet the teachers (those who weren't still there from when we were in school ) and hear what a great job our DD was doing

I'm not that much of a mystery reader. I did read a few in that Prey series that Lynette mentioned though. The latest series I read is by Earlene Fowler. The title of each book is based on a quilt pattern.

I prefer chick lit, such as Jennifer Wiener, and other mind-rotting authors.

I also like Dorothea Benton Frank (stories about the South Carolina Low Country), Cassandra King (Same Sweet Girls ), Deborah Smith . . . Diana Gabaldon is my fave long read.

Okay, I think you get it now. Yes, I just meant that I would send the form home and say this is what I am going to be following during your conference and if there are any outstanding concerns you have about your child please list them here so we could make sure to get to them. I guess I was just thinking that way the parent would know exactly what I was going to be attempting to get through in the 15ish minutes.

Unfortunately I will not just be telling the stories of how well children are doing! It kinda scares me to think of telling parents "your child is a complete terror in the classroom and isn't doing well at all." Maybe I'll word it a little differently.

ladies and gents.........

THe Red and Black top and / or the black and red top......are out....so I went shopping with my darling daughter in law today and the two munchkins.....and SHE picked out three shirts that she thought were good for me..and one was black and beige in it......very pretty short sleeved....
the second one is a pretty pinkish purplish.....very slinky with a lower neckline.shows some cleavage....
then the third one was a blue/greenish color and slinky too.......so hubby and I went tonight and I tried all three on for him and he said to get all THREE.....so I did....
I love these shirts.....now to figure out which one to wear to the wedding.......hmmmmmmmmm
I will try them on tomorrow and decide......also I think my hubby knew that I would need some outfits for funerals........people are growing old and we have more and more to go to....

then we went to walmart and I got some material of dora and boots to make a bedding thingie for the cradle we bought for megans dollies.......
if there is enough material left then I will do a little girls pocketbook for her....she loves dora.....
