OK, I have a prayer request tonight, if any of you are so inclined.

My son is having his interview with a base commander tomorrow at 11, in Melbourne, 1 1/2 hours away. To get into the airforce as an officer. He is 28 already, and wears glasses, so he can't fly, so his chances are reduced,I think. but he made it to this point. Takng tests, getting referral letters, interviews. etc. And he has leadership experience. Flying has been his dream since he was little. Only about 30% of applicants make ii in.

He go his suit cleaned, I picked out shirt and tie, he polished shoes, he is ironing his shirt, and he is going to review test questions. He will be heartbroken if he doesn't get in.

I dont think we will know anything tomorrow, the commander and the recruiter have to fill out some long questionaire about him and his answers, and then it goes to a review board.

But any and all wellwishes, prayers are welcome.

This is one of those mother times when you wish you could just fix things for your kid.

First off, prayers sent for your son, Marita :grouphug:

moo? i bet your rooting for msu....is payback time....

..watch..mich. beat osu.....:rolleyes1 , a long time ago, osu
was in a similar season....& was a 3 td's underdog....to mich...
guess who won?
Arrrghhhhhh! All I can say, Lil G, is that I am glad that I never learned to take sports seriously!!! There are some pretty upset Michigan fans at my office, and the MSU fans are making hay with it. Even though my DD went to Michigan for undergrad, we just go :confused3 !!!!!

Moo....So glad DD and Cash are home safe. I can't tell you how many times I've jumped up in the middle of the night to make sure everyone is home when I didn't hear them come in. It's just a mom-thing. Gotta know they're home.
Thanks, Melinda! It is a mom thing  When it got to be after 9:00 last night, we really started wondering why our DD hadn't called yet and we were getting ready to call her.

 Pumba, that was just a little too close for comfort {{{shudder}}} I watched a bit of the coverage before work this morning. On the anniversary, I always think about my friend's sister who could see the towers from where she lived that day and how badly it affected her. It's one of those things where you'll never forget what you were doing when you heard.

A couple different people sent this YouTube video to me at work today:

I will add your DS to my prayers in the morning, Marita.

I've been working on my grocery list program. Tweaking it so it goes with the flow of my store.

Now I have to decide what to cook next week. Hopefully Sweetbay will have some goog meat on sale again. Last week they had boneless sirloin chops for 1.29lb. I got 7 big thick chops for $4.75. You can't beat that!!!

Now I have to get the kiddos in bed solo because Chad ran up to WinnDixie for an ice cream run. I want chocolate ice cream over a banana. lol. At least the banana is healthy. ;)

Hi, Marita!
Wow! You guys sure do have a lot of posts every day!!!

Definitely sending up prayers for your son & you. It's so hard, isn't it? But I suppose at 28 he's seen his share of disappointments. Hopefully he's starting to understand that when God allows a door to close He opens a window. So, I'll pray that His will might be aligned with your son's and, if not, that your son will find the strength to continue to look for his divine purpose in life. I didn't find mine til I was almost 40...

Hugs,
Cheryl:hippie:

Forgot to say :woohoo: to Twink on your test today!!!

My hubby is fasting tomorrow. He has to go have an outpatient thing done early tomorrow afternoon, so I am taking the day off from work (oh, darn) to go with him. I'm sure he will be hungry and grumpy afterward ;) So he is eating a big meal right now.

Mmmm, MommyP - chocolate ice cream sounds goog! The heck with the banana! I just had a big glass of OJ since I exceeded my chocolate quotient already today.

Pumba:

My husband, son, mother-in-law and I stood at the top of the Twin Towers on 8/11 that year. DS was only 3, but he remembers. I couldn't pull myself together for weeks afterward. All the lovely people who'd been so kind and thoughtful to us that day in the tower. The fact that we hadn't planned to go there; it was a spur-of-the-moment thing and all we had time to do was race to the top, look all the way around, buy a few souvenirs and race back to the boat to catch our train back to MIL's. I said, "It's okay if we don't see the movie. We'll come back and do that another time." <shudder> I still cry over all of the coverage--newspaper, television, you name it. It will forever be the day the world changed for our generation, the way Pearl Harbor changed the world for another generation.

Anyway, just wanted you to know you weren't alone in your version of PTSD. Even those of us who weren't onsite experienced it personally.

G'nite, all!

Cheryl:hippie:

Thanks, Moo, MommyP, and Caby!

Caby, what purpose did you find? And I forgot to welcome you back the other day. So a belated welcome back!

And I have to second the motion about Twinkies awesome checkup.

Re: other mother worries. DD was supposed to be home by 7:30 today. College tomorrow. Now I know she is 23, but I tried calling her to see what's up, just so I'd know, but got voicemail. GRRRRRRRRRR!

I guess it's more pronounced to me today because my boss sent an email this morning that he was in an accident last night and would'nt be in. Sounds like he is ok. But those things always make me worry.

I think Cheryl headed to bed, so I will just say that my best guess is that that is probably when she became a mom!

And I hear you, Marita - the worrying doesn't stop just because they are legally adults . . .

Hope your boss is OK.

Lil G, I'm sure there will be some meet photos. We will just need to see whether we post them a) here b) on Cel's TR or c) on a photo-hosting site.

Cel and other meeters, we need to discuss this and whether anyone has concerns regarding posting of their and/or their kid's photos. If so, we may want to go with Option c.

pj - Tell her it's not a bean at all - it's celery.
:lmao: I'll keep that in mind in case it ever comes up again.

I am ready to take on the world. Or take a nap.
I vote for the second option. Congrats on passing!! :cheer2:

  I'll say a prayer in the morning for sure.

These children I just babysat for are complete terrors. I've never been happier to come home. Then my mom called me and told me she fell off her treadmill today. How does one fall off a treadmill??? Anyway, her ankle's just really swollen and she'll be fine but that perplexed me....falling off a treadmill. :confused3

I need to do homework. :sad2: I have to lead the discussion in tomorrow's class because I'm so smart. ;) So I really need to prepare something.

The new Kenny Chesney CD came out today. It's killing me that I didn't have time to get it yet.

Thanks PEEJ!

So my daughter called. She said, didnt you look at my schedule on the fridge? i said yes.
She says, guess you looked at the wrong day. I had class till 9 tonight.

DUH! I need to retire, or my mind is frazzled or both!

Conventions dept made an exceptional performance for spending:

Budget $11,000 Actual $67,000

I alrealdy am getting ulcers.................. This stupid pilot program is going to be the death of me.

I could have written this post. Except it would be coming from the other side. My schedule is also on my mom's refrigerator and she also calls me when it clearly states I am in class and then proceeds to worry when I don't pick up because I "always pick up my phone."

So much for homework. My sister has been talking nonstop for 20 minutes to me on the phone venting about her psycho roommate. She just heard the typing and told me "pay attention to ME...the online people can wait!" :rotfl:

Speaking about talking non-stop, there is this one person at work (who I see in the smoking section) dont yell!!!!!!

This woman talks non-stop!!!!!! NON STOP!!!!!! I sat there for 15 minutes today, maybe 20, more than cig break, listening to her vent and talk! I bet I said ok and yes maybe twice the whole time! I think she broke up with a boyfriend who dropped her TV but she doesnt care, and she is renting an apartment whose owner said they are going to fix holes in the wall, but she said she didnt care cause she loves the area and she will just fix it herself and there is a pond and it has benches ant its 40 mins away and there is an old man next door and a nurse working swingshift the other side and there are benches and the guy ( I think he is an old boyfriend) is just sad drip and she prays he will get better, and he doesnt care about her things and he dropped her TV and she doesnt care if it doesnt work, she will just throw it out
I am sure there is more, PM me if you care, LOL

Heaven help anyone living with her! THis was not just today, ti's every time. Today was just a very extended version.

That's always so awkward because I'm sure you, like me, are ULTRA polite and don't want to tell them to shut the up. But at the same time you have to for your own sanity.

PM sent. :teeth:

obviously a man

:lmao:

Well I passed. Bring on the carbs! They did tell me to limit my intake of salt, sugar and caffiene. Whatevah.
Actually he said I am awesome. He loved my weight, belly measurement, and blood pressure. Baby's heartbeat was 154 and the baby kicked him. I go back in two weeks for another ultrasound:cloud9:

On my way out I saw a brand new baby waiting to go home from the hospital. I might have cried a little. Lack of sugar makes me weepy. Anyway I have just inhaled about 1000 calories so I am ready to take on the world. Or take a nap.

Twink, YAY for you for your great doctor's visit. But, uh....just to ease my mind, would you do a quick head count at your house? I just want to be sure that you didn't consume one of the Twinkies during your post-fast feeding frenzy. :thumbsup2

OK, I have a prayer request tonight, if any of you are so inclined.

Prayers comin' at ya for your son!

ITA, Moo..I am simultaneously horrified by and inexplicably drawn to information about this awful anniversary. I remember the day so vividly. Each time I see or hear anything about the attacks and the aftermath, I end up in tears.

I want chocolate ice cream over a banana. lol. At least the banana is healthy. ;)

MommyP, don't forget about the extraordinary effects that chocolate can have on one's psyche. A happy mommy makes for a happier, healthier baby. So goog of you to make these *ahem* sacrifices for the good of the baby! ;)

These children I just babysat for are complete terrors. I've never been happier to come home.

I have 3 nephews and a niece that you should meet. Those 4 make me understand why tigers sometimes eat their young. :rotfl:

BigL! :cheer2: Sup?

No, thanks. I'll stick with these 2, they're enough. If the mom didn't pay really well I'd be outta there!!!! These are the kids that make a person never want kids.

Thanks, friends

Isnt it odd how you can bond like this, long distance, without ever meeting?

Well, except for some soon

Anyway, love you all!!!!!!!

That phenomenon has wIerded me out on several occasions. But it's true!

This time I have to leave for real. Someone has to do the homework around here.

Thanks. And I did bathe three small children and converse with one large child so I think no actual Twinkies were harmed in my post fast feeding frenzy.

Just so you all don't worry since I went on the feeding frenzy at 3 ish pm I didn't eat dinner. MommyP's chocolate ice cream over a banana sounds goog, only I don't have any chocolate ice cream or bananas. In fact the entire grocery situation is pretty dismal here. I will think about that tomorrow.

Have fun doing homework PJ! I thank you for all your useful posts too.

Hey Moo! Hey Marita! Hey Lally!

BigL! :cheer2: Sup?

No, thanks. I'll stick with these 2, they're enough. If the mom didn't pay really well I'd be outta there!!!! These are the kids that make a person never want kids.

Sup, LilL???? :dance3: Shouldn't you be tucked into your Princess sheets by now?????

Thanks, friends

::yes::It sure is something, this online friendship stuff! My DH thinks I'm outta my mind when he sees me on these boards.
