Congrats to all moms sending kiddos back to school

I went to the eyedoctor today, to complain the reading glasses he prescribed we NOT good, it's blurry, and I can't see.

He looked at the glasses, measured the lenses. Went, these were not what I prescribed, the prescription was stronger.....

AHA, VICTORY, I KNEW IT!

So they proceed to dig in their records, measure the frames, look for inscriptions in the frames (none!). Hmm, very strange they say. That was in June, they should not have rubbed off!


Then they figured it out..........................................................


They are NOT the prescription glasses, they are drugstore glasses (Foster Grants, only sold in retail stores). Very similar frame.
Do you know how stupid that made me feel ?

So I had another pair of glasses at home I thought that could be the right ones, but a lens had fallen out. Went home to check those out, trying to read tiny letters on the side om the frame with my drug store glasses that don't work right.
The phone rings, it's work!!! GRRRRRRRRRRR, not NOW, I am on a mission.
Anyway, those glasses say something like "Sonia Olsen", not Mayfield or something like that. I popped the lens back in (twice now) and it's slightly better, but I dont know if they are the real ones or not.
Hunted around some more to see if I might have stashed a pair somewhere. No luck.
So I am considering what to do.
Do I take this set of glasses in and say, pardon me, could these be the glasses that you said should say Mayfield?
NO??, more drugstore glasses, really?
Or spend another $200 on another pair?

First day of school went will. Only one got homework and it was only one sheet asking about his name, why we picked it etc. More less homework for me.

Hannah just went to bed. She was pretty tired. She emailed her dad about her day so did Nicholas. It was really cute.

MP- sunburns can be dehydrating even when you are out of the sun- rest today and drink your water!

Everyone was so excited to get back to school here. DS has his first football game so this required wearing a white button down shirt to school. Of course he told me that at 9:30 pm last night. The DH saved the day with a late run to Target. Also the team had a 6:30 am practice today and he woke up at 5 so he would have time to watch TV before school. Now in the last 9 years of his education we have never let him watch TV before school. I think he was banking on that we would be so groggy and disoriented we would just say yes. You have to get up earlier than that to outwit a twinkiemama my dear son.

The little twinkies also woke up VERY early. The next two weeks are color (colour) weeks at school. It was very important to pick out their RED outfits 6 hours before the bus comes. And Twinkerbell is Happy Helper today so we need to make a snack to bring to school. Her show and tell has been packed for the last 2 days.

Goldenchild snuck into our bed last night. Fell out. Thud! But just rolled over and went to sleep on the floor. I left him there until he rolled under the bed and got stuck- still asleep mind you but yelling "mama!". I had to retrieve him, wake him up and calm him down.... that was at 3:35 am.

So everything is back to normal here at Casa de Los Twinkies.

I got really tired just reading that.

Utah: Maybe you could make some bread dough cattle, so PJ can have a visual along with that lesson she got this weekend.

You're just always here to help me, aren't you?

P.J. -- Did you get the glue out of your hair? How did you get in your hair, are you trying to make hair bows like Celery?

I actually ended up cutting it out of my hair. I have really thick hair, it's not noticable. I wasn't making hair bows, but I was using ribbon!

I can just picture PJ trying to glue a bow to her head! heheheheheh

Marita! Take the glasses back in. So what if they think you're a crazy lady. My glasses cost almost $300 at Sam's Club! I'd sure take them back in. If they won't give you any credit, you're gonna have to get a new pair anyway. Right?

I want some of those contacts where you have one that sees close up and one far away. I am currently wearing bifocals and have become very dependant on them. (It's goog to see!) But I think they add a few years to me.

MommyP....Are you going to be at Disney for "days"? I thought you were just going for MNSSHP. Yipee! I hope I get to meet you!

BNCG....Bummer on the cavity! I have a crazy female dentist right here in my neighborhood and we all lof her.

NAB....Only one homework! DD13 had to make a brochure "About Me" with her past, present, and future sections inside. That was fun to read...for me. She also had to do a book report last night that looked more like an art project than anything. Why is everything a creative project? What ever happened to a plain old written book report?

Lexi -- I think you were the only one to get on this morning!!

I have been trying all day. But it is fixed now.

Nicholas tells me there will be no big projects to do at home so the parents can't help. That is fine with me.

I was waiting for the ton of paper work they usually send home but none came yet. I did tell the office this morning I will be taking them out they just said to let each to the teachers know and that is it.

I was going though all my paper work for the trip this morning. Putting it all in place. Plane tickets are in the safety deposit box at the bank. Never flew Airtran before.

Marita-- how is the shoe hunt going?

I'm sort of sewing. I have my witchy patterns cut out. They are scary too hard but so far, everything I've sewn, I've upped my skill level. So!

Thanks for the info on the photo shoot Lexi- I bet it will be a thing of the past by the time I get back.

Marita- sorry about the glasses fiasco- but it was funny. I would gather every pair of glasses you can find and take them all in. Let them figure out which ones are the rx. Everyone here wears glasses (except the Ninja). I purposely bought the little twinks very different frames to prevent confusion as they have basically the same prescription. DS and I have opposite prescriptions but we had similar frames until recently. The DH only wears glasses when he is reading or working on the computer all day. His vision almost perfect but contanst computer work wears out his eyes and gives him a headache. The glasses (prescription but very weak) really help. Anyway- I feel your pain on the high cost of being able to see. Last january we bought a years supply of contacts AND 4 pair of glasses in one fell swoop.

BBN- How early does one have to get up to outwit a twinkie? That is a goog question. I don't know the answer to that but at least the tootsie roll pop question has been answered.

Nab- Hi! I have flown airtran. Nothing fancy but they get you there.... they have reliably had low fares to Orlando for the last couple of years. I used to have airline loyalty but not anymore.


Today is blue day if anyone is trying to coordinate their outfits with the little twinks. Again, the excitement of having a color to wear required that everyone be up and at 'em at a ridiculously early hour. They also had to bring in a baby picture. This required me to look through the baby pictures and feel nostalgic.

Melinda, you want MONOvision! That's how I had my Lasik done. It's GREAT!!! I can do most everything except for driving and other long-distance vision tasks. For that, I need distance glasses to correct my reading eye.

Twink, I feel your pain on the glasses/contacts costs. I thought it was expensive for us. Yikes!
