Hi all We have reservations for the time period for Moonlight Magic for Epcot in April. We just found out that my sister will be coming into orlando staying at the Hilton in Disney springs starting on 4.30 (the day of the party). She is a DVC member but staying at the Hilton for some kind of event. We had considered to add them to our reservation but we have one of the new DUO rooms at the Poly so we cant add anyone to our reservation. Do people sometime trade with people if they get extra tickets? I of course don't know if I would get them in the lottery. The other option I was thinking I try to convince them to come a night early and book the 4/29 th date. But they have to have a 4/30 reservation to be allowed to try for the lottery , Correct? Thanks for any suggestions.

You should be able to register for up to 5 people for the event, regardless of how many you have listed on the room reservation. If you need more than 5, then you must have the appropriate number of people listed your room reservation(s).

For early registration, I understand the max is for the member plus 4 guests (5 total) OR the maximum number of guests listed on the reservation, whichever is greater.

I've never quite followed this, since I thought you had to be on the reservation to get a ticket (at least with early registration). Does that mean I could get a Duo Studio with only my name on the reservation but still get 5 tickets? And then I could grab 4 people off the street and bring them in with me?

The MM registration only asks for the name of the member that will be checking in for the event. You don't need guests names.

If you register during normal regulation (without an accompanying lodging reservation) you it's member plus 4 guests - regardless how well you know your guests. That same quantity is held for early registration, unless you have a room with more than 5 total registered guests.

Correct. The people who would be at risk if people are missing from the reservation are those who have rooms with more than 5 or those with multiple rooms booked.

But every owner can get up at least 5 on their membership. The resort room just gives you early access to register and opens up getting more of your room is a larger one.

Does anyone else feel like the 4 guests for everyone regardless of booked party size is unfair?

I’m hoping desperately to get a reservation for a MM event at some point, but we’ve been shut out every time so far. Only need two tickets, have a resort reservation booked on points, but have never managed to snag tickets. I haven’t even gotten the booking info yet for the April Epcot MM, which will be our next attempt.

I just wish they would spread out attendance more, give more of the actual members a chance to attend rather than some members seemingly getting lucky every time and having excess tickets for extended family not staying DVC and “people off the street” while many members don’t get tickets at all.

I would so much rather they limited it to whoever is actually on your reservation, and I’d even prefer that people only got one MM per year rather than the one per season, at least for the early booking window.

I definitely agree it should be one per year, regardless of park. And maybe the change to season is a step toward that.

But, I can’t say that I care if they all those who don’t stay onsite a chance.

They already give those with resort reservations the bulk of the spots and I think giving a membership up to 5 guests unless you are in a larger room is fair.

I am not sure that they do give members with resort reservations the bulk of the spots, since they let whoever manages to get online first reserve up to 5 spots even if they are booked solo in a room, and then some members with resort reservations miss out completely. So lots of non-members without a reservation but who happen to know someone with fast fingers and good internet get spots and some members are left completely ticketless.

I really feel that it should be limited to whoever is on your room reservation, however many that happens to be. And if they don’t want to do that, then strictly limit the number of times a year you can attend one. I just think they need to spread attendance out more, but maybe that’s just my bitterness at having missed out on tickets the last half a dozen times we’ve tried but seeing tons of posts where people have been able to take their off-site family members.

But if DVC owner has a room booked, they get first chance at getting tickets over those who don’t and they give away the bulk of spots to owners with a room reservation.

Not enough spots for every membership so no matter what they do, some owners won’t get in even with a reservation and some without will get lucky during general registration.

As I said, I think one event per year should be the limit.

When do the emails go out about if you're qualified for the early registration? Or do you just try on Thursday and hope for the best. We have a stay at Animal Kingdom.
