Check it out--we found the greatest dog-friendly motel in North Wildwood called the Surf 16. We have a rather large "puppy" ourselves, Maxi-Dog, a labrador-rottie-pit and who knows what else combo.

We took him there last year and had one of our most fun vacations ever. The motel was filled with nice families and their dogs. My son (who will be 8 years old next week) took up with the owner's and guest's kids, and had the time of his playing. Our dog (Max) was beside himself with joy! He loves other dogs, and this place is like Dog City.

We're going there again toward the end of August. The week after next, my son and I are going to stay for a few days with my sister-in-law who rented a house for a week in Long Beach Island.

I will have to check that out! I've stayed at a bunch of places down there in the past, but that was all pre-Monty. I think it would be very fun to take Monty on a trip there.

I'd love to take my two Poodles on a boat but one is 12 years old and the younger one would never set foot on a boat. He'd be too frightened.

He does not always ride in it. Usually he rides on my lap, in the passenger side, with a shorter leash tied to the seat belt for extra restraint. When one of us is traveling solo in the car, he rides in the car seat.

He prefers to be on someone's lap.

I'm sorry your puppy gets car sick. Maybe she will grow out of it as she gets older?

She is adorable by the way! She looks like a little ball of fluff!

I really enjoyed the adventure! My DH and I take our girls (Faith and Hope - two mini pins) on vacation with us. They too, have car seats, and now ride in them all the time. Hope would prefer a lap, but with airbags in the front it just isn't safe. I love the life vests, and thanks for the mention so I'll check them out. My girls don't like water - but love animals especially watching the baby quails in the morning outside the windows, they sit very quiet and watch for hours! I'll have to post their photo's - in the next post. I love all animals, we have two horses and a cat as well. There is a book that's called Traveling with Man's best friend, and they have a series (sections for different parts of the country). We take it with us and know exactly which hotels allow the girls. We haven't done too many tours, etc. with them, but thanks to you, I'll be checking that out now!

For those who asked what Monty is, he is a Jack Russell Terrier, 100% . He acts pretty much like a normal JRT, except that he is NOT a hunter, and is, in fact, terrified of small mammals. But we love him anyway.
