Not a Disney question but hoping someone could help me out. My husband and I will be going to Montreal in a few weeks for a conference. We're gong a few days early since we have never been to Montreal and plan to do some sightseeing. We will be staying near Old Montreal. Could anyone suggest some good restaurants, nice but not super expensive? There are so many in the guide books that it is a little overwhelming. Thanks!:)

I know Chuck Hughes has a couple of restaurants - garde manger and Le bremner - and I believe they are in Old Montreal. Might be worth checking out.

You might also want to check if your visit coincides with the Jazz Festival or Just For Laughs.

The Keg in Old Montreal is good and not too expensive. If you walk around in Old Montreal you will trip over great restaurants and many have a Terasse, which is fantastic if it is a nice warm day. Enjoy!:)

There's a boutique hotel called the St. Sulpice Hotel - the restaurant inside (Sinclair Restaurant) was excellent several years ago. Their menu shows a fixe-price meal for $50 which I think is very reasonable.
There's also the Creperie Chez Suzette (which my memory puts near The Keg - which is a chain but decent for a chain steakhouse) which is excellent and very Quebecois. I'd do some Yelp or similar searches and find local places. Chains are fine but I like finding local, unique places.

We discovered this little place called "Le Robin Square" on St-laurent just on the edge of old montreal. I cannot recommend it enough. it's a tiny family operated place. But the chef really cares about the food, and the servers ( his sisters ) are super friendly.

Of course, there's the Notre Dame Basilica to visit there, the old port, the science museum. and that's all just in Old Montreal.

Dim Sum at La Maison Kam Fung on St.-Urbain, off of Blvd. Rene-Levesque Ouest, more or less opposite the Place Desjardins mall. The restaurant is on the second floor of a red brick building. Cart service starts mid-morning, otherwise there's a dim sum menu. If you arrive late, you will have to stand in line to get in. Give your name at the podium when you arrive.

Hello ! For inexpensive but good I reccomend Olive et Gourmando , they are a bakery/cafe with delicious meals. They get VERY busy, though. In the old Montreal, there is also a SoupSoupe, it's a chain of really fresh soup, sandwiches and salads and the menu changes daily. The famed chef from Europea, Jerome Ferrer, has started to open a few cantines (like a food shack). I have not been yet, but the menu looks wonderful. I look forward to trying the poutine there !

I really reccomend using public transport this summer. There are so many streets blocked because of road work, and a lot of streets are one way already...it's a nightmare. The metro is vey user-friendly :)

Summer is also food truck season in Montreal. Their locations change all the time so check the menu when you see one. If you like french fries check Frites Alors. If you want poutine, I was told that the best one is from La Banquise (never been and I live in Mtl since 1998). I personally like the poutine from Valentine or La Belle Province (both chains). If you are there during the jazz festival, try to get a reservation for a table on the terrasse (patio) of Bâton Rouge (BBQ restaurant) across from Place des Arts so you can eat while listening to the show that are right there. For good crepes and decadent hot chocolate, one must is Juliette et Chocolat.

Thanks! We are in Montreal right now so we will try to find some of these. Everyone is correct though, Old Montreal has a ton of restaurants! I don't think we can go wrong no matter where we eat. Thanks everyone!
