Months of planning = finally book a trip! A March PTR. - 3/29 update - we're home!

Wow!! You guys did a great job for Beauty & the Beast! The food looked fabulous!! I'm waiting for some of our movies to come in (we just joined Disney Movie Club) so we can get started. I think J really liked Mulan, so we may order some Chinese and start with that one!

Thanks! Beauty and the Beast is one of my favorite movies so I really enjoyed putting things together for that one.

We joined the Movie club before our trip last year and really stocked up on the classic movies. We did Mulan for a party night in the spring. It was a very simple one. My kids love that movie especially DS2.

I just love :lovestruc the parties you do! They were so cool last year and you are on a roll for this trip also! I may have to steal a few ideas! My kids are older but I would really like to do a "grown-up" version just to count down!! :goodvibes

Just dropping in to say.......

My Mickey Mail came today!!!!!! :cool1::cool1::cool1:

It makes it feel so much closer! Only 4 weeks now!

Steal away! One of the first things my girls asked when I said we were going back was if we were going to have party nights. My 5yo in particular loves helping me get ready for them.

I have been a pretty bad DISer lately. I am not sure what made me think I could handle being "cookie mom" for DD7's Brownie troop while preparing for a WDW vacation.

Anyway, at 40 days out, we had our next party night. The theme was the original Toy Story movie. Here are some pictures of the table:

The food this night was pretty simple. We had pizza (a la Pizza Planet) and Star shaped sugar cookies (Woody's sheriff badge). In all honesty, it was a busy week night and the cookies are leftovers I had in the freezer from Christmas. :sad2: At least we had fun decorating the table...

For our 30 night party, we watched the Lion King. The table decorations for this one were pretty simple, just some stuffed animals, animal crackers, and DD7's hat from Animal Kingdom.

The hat has kind of a funny story. It comes from our trip in 2006. DD7 was then 2 1/2 years old and DD5 was less than a year. We stayed in AKL  Anyway, I was in the room putting DD5 down for a nap so MIL took DD7 for a walk around AKL. At some point, they lost her hat. Knowing that I (as a sun avoider) would be upset for DD7 to go back to the parks in the Florida sun without a hat, MIL quickly bought her that one. Of course, her original hat turned up about an hour later.

You can see that we still only have this movie on VHS. We are so behind the times.

We had a lot of fun making the food for this one. First, there were slimy, yet satisfying bugs. Grape caterpillars with fruit rollup antennae:

Rice krispie ladybugs covered in fruit rollup and chocolate icing spots:

On the DIS for Families board, there are lots of ideas for these parties, but it seems that everyone has steak when they do Lion King. That didn't really work for my vegetarian DH. So, we had African food. Rwandan style white beans with broccoli trees:

and peanut stew:

For dessert, we had zebra cake (graham cracker, chocolate pudding, graham cracker, vanilla pudding, repeat)

Again, another cute party theme! :cutie:
My collection is mostly VHS tapes, too! We just recently joined Disney Movie Club to re-collect the classics on DVD. Then in about 5 or 10 years I'm sure we'll have to do it all over again for Blu-ray

More cute parties and Toy Story and The Lion King are my favorites!! Lion King is being released "from the vault" (you know those marketing ploys!) this coming fall....at least that is what I read on the Movies/DVD thread. I have been waiting to get it on DVD! I totally understand being a bad DISser! I have been very bad lately!!

We don't own a blu-ray player, but we have been buying the blu-ray/DVD combo packs as they come out. Eventually we will get a blu-ray player. :rolleyes1

Ooooh. I hadn't heard that Lion King was being re-released. I will be watching for that!

Inspired by the wonderful people on the DISboutiquers thread on the Families board, I have decided to make some shirts for everyone. Here is my first effort:

DS2 is currently obsessed with Lightning McQueen (or Lightning d'Queen as he says ). He even sleeps with a die cast Mater. :rolleyes1 I have had a hard time keeping this shirt from him. Everytime I wash it he grabs it and demands to wear it.

In other news, we took good advantage of our snow days a few weeks ago. For the first time in 7 years, we are now a diaper free house! DS isn't really comfortable with public bathrooms yet, so we will certainly be bringing pull ups on our trip. Anybody ever travelled with a little guy who has only been potty trained for 5 weeks?

Only 3 weeks to go! :yay::yay:

Only 19 days until we are there!!!

I finished up our shirts for our DHS day.

DSC_0084.jpg

From the upper left, the purple is DH's, the blue is mine, the lighter blue is DD7's, the green is FIL's, the lighter blue is MIL's, the purple is DD5's and the green is DS2's.

Here is DD5 wearing hers:

In other exciting news, the Rapunzel dress that I ordered for DD5 arrived yesterday!!! :yay::yay:

Here it is:

The skirt is really soft. I think she will absolutely love it!

We just had our 20 day party. The theme was Sleeping Beauty.

Here is a picture of the table:

The doll sitting in the back is from the Princess Tea party in the Grand Floridian. They are nice dolls, but the hair is not easy to care for.

The menu was peas, homemade bread (yummy!), roast chicken for the omnivores (and some "fake" chicken patties for DH) and berries (since the fairies send Aurora berry picking while they prepare her party):

I was just thinking about food that would have been available in the 14th century. That is what drove the menu.

For dessert, we had this cake:

We were going to make fairy wands (pretzel rods dipped in chocolate and rolled in sprinkles), but we ran out of time.

We only have one party night left. We are thinking about doing 101 Dalmations. However, with the re-release of Bambi, we may pick that up tomorrow. Bambi is more challenging for food. 101 Dalmations would just be black and white food - pretty easy. Which would you choose?

LOVE the outfits/shirts!! So cute! I hope if we ever get to go on an extended family trip that we can have some matching shirts!

And another cute dinner theme! :thumbsup2 I'm not sure what to do for the next one... 101 Dalmations would be an easier theme, but Bambi is a classic, hmmmm.... Oh well, either way I'm sure it'll be great!!

You guys are so close!! How exciting!! :woohoo:

The shirts look great:thumbsup2

Congrats on having a diaper free house. :cool1:

The Sleeping Beauty night looks very cute. Love the berries!

I actually don't know if MIL and FIL will want to wear theirs. I just didn't want them to be left out.

Thanks. It is such a hard decision. Of course, I got busy last week and didn't make it out to pick up Bambi, so my choice may be made for me.

You guys are so close!! How exciting!!

I love the t-shirts!!!! Awesome job!!!

Thanks. I wish I had more time to sew and be crafty.

Have you seen this? http://www.disboards.com/showthread....2669067&page=3 They say it may be just for the F&G Fest but I really hope they keep it. In either case...it will be there for your trip!!!

I did read that thread! DD5 will love that! Now, we just have to decide if she wears the Rapunzel dress to MK to meet Rapunzel or if she wears it to Epcot to have lunch at Akershus and stand by the tower. Hmmmm.....

The shirts look great

Thank you!

Congrats on having a diaper free house.

It feels really strange. I cloth diaper and so there is a couple of missing loads of laundry in my week. I am used to always having 14 and suddenly I only have 12!

The Sleeping Beauty night looks very cute. Love the berries!

We are a fruit-loving family. My girls wouldn't eat anything else if I didn't insist. We didn't have any left.
