Hello and Welcome! I am so happy to be back on the trip report boards after about a 3 month hiatus.

Let's start with the important stuff. Who is going on this trip?

ME!! I'm Karen (36). I love the atmosphere of Disney and the joy in my children's eyes when we are there. I typically describe my riding strategy as "only things that move slower than I can walk". This will be my 12th trip to WDW. I am the planner in the family and love to have a minute-by-minute plan (yes, I know it won't really happen, but a girl can hope, right?)

DH (38) enjoys Disney very much. He will ride anything except for the tea cups. He is from Florida and can't remember how many times he has been to Disney.

DD7 started riding thrill rides for the first time on our June 2010 trip. She loved BTMRR and Splash Mountain. She loves all things pink and Sleeping Beauty, but I fear that her princess days are rapidly coming to an end. At home, she plays soccer, does gymnastics, sings in the choir, and plays chess. She is always on the go!

DD4 loves purple and Snow White. She is completely uninterested in thrill rides despite being tall enough. Her favorite rides on our trip in June were Soarin' and Spaceship Earth.

DS2 loves Cars. He is the stereotypical little brother who gets into stuff and makes lots of messes. His favorite rides in June were Winnie the Pooh and Aladdin's carpets.

MIL used to be our Disney planner. Our June trip was the first one I ever planned and it was pretty different than her style. However, I must not have done too bad as they agreed to go with us again! In June, she did all of our running for fastpasses and did such an amazing job we often had more than we could use.

FIL is really laid back. He will always volunteer to stay with DS2 if we ride something he isn't tall enough for or if he falls asleep in the stroller. He is great to have along. Apparently, I didn't take any good pictures of him in June. I will look for one later.

Up next, the where and the when!

In my previous post, I mentioned our June trip many times. We were at WDW from June 8-17, 2010. :goodvibes This was the first trip that I ever got to plan for our family and I was obsessed about it. I planned everything imaginable (meals, rides, snacks, breaks, EVERYTHING!) While I was planning and repeatedly asking DH for his opinion, he thought I had gone over the deep end. However, once we were there, he told me several times to make a note in my planning journal so we could have a better plan “next time”. We spent a large part of our 18 hour drive home planning the next trip. What time would we want an ADR? How many days in each park? What restaurants were must-dos? We had a pretty good outline for the next before we even got home from the last one! :thumbsup2

By early July, I was asking DH when I could book the next trip. He said as soon as I had enough money saved to pay for it. Well, let me tell you, that made me a woman with a mission!! :scratchin We had spent $4300 on our last trip and figured that if we cut some things, we would need $3000 for our next trip. I immediately became a regular reader of the budget board and carefully saved as much as I could for the next 5 months. By early November, I was getting close!

A large motivating factor for this trip is my desire to stay in Wilderness Lodge before our family is too big for us to stay there. DS2 will turn 3 in July, so our goal was to stay there while he was still a Disney infant. So, for this trip, the where was the easiest decision – We will be staying at Wilderness Lodge!!! :cool1: I can't wait! DH loves this idea because it means that we can avoid taking the bus to the MK. We found that for our family, driving to Epcot, AK, and DHS worked really well, but we used the bus for MK and really didn't care for it. Being at WL means we can take the boat. It won't be quite as convenient as a monorail resort, but it will be cheaper!

Now, on to the when? This was a little harder. Our first thought was go for Spring break. DH and I are college professors and for the past 3 years, our spring break has been a different week than DD7's. Because of this, we haven't ever gone anywhere for spring break. However, this year for the first time ever, our spring breaks are the same week! We really wanted to celebrate – until we found out that is one of the most expensive times to go to WDW. We started looking at going back in June.

But, then, one day I went to the mailbox...and...THERE... IT...WAS! What was it? You guessed it – A PINCODE! :worship: I ran inside and quickly calculated that we could afford a 3 night/4 day stay at WL! Spring break here we come!!! Our dates are March 22-25, 2011!

I am here!! Can't wait to hear all about everything! I hope to begin mine real soon too!! :goodvibes

We went in March 09 and loved it!! The Flower and Garden Show is going on and it is so pretty!! Jealous you get to stay at WL though!!

Hi Tink! Welcome to the new PTR. I am so happy to have you here! I will be looking forward to your new PTR. I am really excited about March and hoping for really nice weather (at least not as hot as June!) I am absolutely thrilled about WL!!!! DH likes it because of the transportation, but it is just one of my favorites for theming. I can't wait!

I'm here! I'm doing TERRIBLY on keeping up with the DIS lately, but I promise at some point I will get all caught up with everyone!

Wilderness lodge is so beautiful! I am so jealous and can't wait to hear all about your stay there! I think you will love it. How could you not?

Welcome lexmas!! I understand how tough it is to keep up with all the TR! I got so far behind on yours. Anyway, I am glad you are here!

Well, I guess we should have tried harder to spend more time in Toontown in June since it is now official that it will be closed on our dates. :sad1: Hopefully, by late March they will have all the kinks worked out of the meet & greets in other places.

Hopefully, I will really get this PTR rolling soon. Today, I am just dropping in to say:

100 days until we arrive at WDW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, it finally happened this morning. It was pajama day at school and DD7 informed me that she didn't have anything to wear because all of her pajamas have Disney princesses on them. Princesses are no longer "cool' in 2nd grade. :sad1: I knew this moment was coming. I am just sad that it is here. (Luckily, I knew that MIL had gotten her some non-princess pjs for Christmas, so she got an early gift this morning and was happy.)

In happier news, we are telling the kids about the trip tomorrow!!! :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: I can't wait to see their reaction! Santa comes here tomorrow morning (since we travel for the actual holiday). One gift they will receive is a big box. When opened, there are two big helium balloons with a sign attached to them. The sign says "We are going to Disneyworld!" and has pictures from our June trip. Hanging off of the sign is a countdown chain for the 94 days remaining. Also in the box are a plush Mickey and 2 Minnies, some glowsticks, and a few other Disney trinkets. I will try to post their reaction tomorrow.

Oh no, too cool for princesses!

On the plus side, I hope the big reveal is amazing! I can't wait to hear all about it! Merry early Christmas!

Here is how the great surprise went on Saturday morning. We put the "surprise" box in the very back so they had to open all of their other presents first. Then, we told them to open that last box all together. They opened it and as planned, the balloons floated up out of the box. The kids yelled, "Balloons!" and then continued to look into the box.
They were pulling out the plush Minnies and Mickey and I told DD7 to read the sign. She said, "What sign?"

I said, "The sign attached to the balloons that is hitting you on the head!"

She read, "We are going to Disneyworld."

I said, "Do you know what that means? Do you understand that we are going to Disneyworld?"

She said, "When?"

I said, "Spring Break!"

She said, "Look, Toy Story 3 is in the box!" :sad2:

Sometimes my kids can really lack for enthusiasm! :rotfl:

Anyway, later in the evening, she pulls the first link off of the countdown chain that was also in the box and it says, "In 94 days, we will be in Disneyworld staying at Wilderness Lodge."

Now, she starts :yay: and :cool1: because she is so excited! Of course, now we don't have the video camera ready. Obviously, my kids didn't get the memo that they were supposed to react to the box and give me a great video! :lmao:

I am also a mommy of three: DD's 11 & 8, DS 4. We will be there March 6-12. Last trip was in 2006 when I was pregnant with DS. This is our first "on-poperty" experience. ASMu family suite. Look forward to following your family from PTR to TR! :thumbsup2

I think my kids would be the same way! Delayed reactions are the name of the game around here!! :rotfl: My imagination of how they will react is always not reality!!

I am soooo glad I "popped" in your PTR!! I am surprising my boys with a trip to Disney too and I was trying to figure out how I would give it to them!!

:welcome: oopsiDAISY! Glad to have you along!

I hope you post pictures of the ASMu family suite when you return. We will be looking into places like that in the future. This trip is especially designed to go one last time before DS turns 3 and "counts" as a person. :rotfl: Once we are officially a family of 5, we will need to choose other places to stay.

:welcome: nu2wdisneyw!!

Glad to have been of assistance! :santa: Surprising the kids is so much fun!

I hope that everyone had a very Merry Christmas!! :santa: We did our annual Christmas trip to my parent's house in Ohio. I learned a great travel lesson on this trip.

We left our house on Monday Dec. 20. It is usually a 14 hour drive from our house to my parents. However, 12 hours into the trip, we found ourselves in a snow storm. After spending the next hour travelling only 30 miles and watching 6 cars slide off the highway, we decided to pull off and get a hotel room for the night.

We found a nice hotel with vacancies. It was now 8 PM and our kids had been in the car for 13 hours. What do we see when we walk in the door? An indoor swimming pool!!!! Do you think we had swimsuits for a Christmas trip to Ohio? Of course not! Instead, we had a hyper 2 year old who had napped in the car bouncing off the beds until 11:30 PM. :headache: My lesson for the future: Swimsuits are small - bring them even if you think there is no chance of needing them! :rotfl:

Happy New Year to all of you East Coast folks. We have about 51 more minutes to wait here. I love fun numbers and am really looking forward to celebrating tomorrow on 1/1/11. :yay:

We now have an itinerary planned for our trip. We will leave right after school on Friday March 19 (they usually let out at 1 PM right before a break) and drive for 9 hours. This will put us somewhere in the Birmingham/Montgomery Alabama area. I think we are actually going to try to book a room in advance this time rather than just stopping when we get tired. It should save us some $$.

On Saturday, March 20, we will finish the drive to DH's parents condo in Vero Beach. It should be another 11 hours.

We will spend Sunday and Monday hanging out at the condo and enjoying the beach and the pool.

Tuesday morning, we will get up when the kids usually do (6:30 AM) and get moving to Orlando. We will check into the WL and go straight to Animal Kingdom. It is a 2 hour drive from Vero to Orlando, so I am expecting to arrive at Animal Kingdom by about 10-10:30 AM. We will have a CS lunch there (probably Pizzafari) and stay until we are done. Then we will return to WL to go swimming. Since we will have the minivan, we will either go to DTD for a little while in the evening, or just send DH over there to pick up supper from Earl of Sandwich or Wolfgang Puck Express.

Wednesday, we will get up early and take the boat to the Magic Kingdom!!! We will do a day where we spend the morning, take a break, and then return for supper and stay through Wishes! It has been a long time since I have seen Wishes and I am really excited about it!

Thursday, we will sleep in a little and try to get to Epcot by about 10 AM. The kids can't handle rope drop the day after we see Wishes. We will stay until we are done probably leaving around 6 PM.

Friday, we will get up early, check out of WL, and get to DHS for rope drop. We will stay until we are done and then check into a cheaper off-property hotel for the evening.

Saturday and Sunday will be spent driving home with a "return to reality" planned for Monday morning. :guilty:
