Monthly Bill for Family Plans on IPHONES?

a little OT here- but since it's a 'budget' thread:thumbsup2 I thought I'd add this... my ds is on the virgin mobile plan (sprint)- he bought a fancy android phone (= iphone in most ways) and pays 35.00 per month for 350 talk minutes and unlimited data and texting. If any of you out there are like myself, and shocked at the Iphone costs......IMHO, a smartphone with an independent no contract plan is your cheapest bet.

I wish they offered an iPhone.

We are a Mac family so almost all of our products are Macs. Droids are ok, but I still MUCH prefer an iPhone.

And, even with VM I would need the $45 plan as that 350 minutes is total, in other words, you don't get nights and weekends or Sprint to Sprint for free, so you need to carefully watch your minutes. The $45 plan has 1200 minutes.

My 14 year old uses the cheap VM plan. If she uses 15 minutes in a month, that's a lot. Texting on the other hand, is a whole different story. I may get the VM plan at some point, and I rarely use 50 minutes in a month. So, it all depends on what you use your phone to do.

When I was going through to list our costs, I noticed my daughter's phone had an extra 9.99/month charge for enrolling in some website or something. I have no idea what it was. I called AT&T, the lady was very nice and reversed the charges and added some kind of block on both of my girl's phones.

This is why I love AT&T. I don't know if other companies do this but from day 1 with them (when they were Cingular) they've done this for me. And with 3 teens having phones there's always something going on it seems! We have 5 phones, 2 Iphones with data plans, 3 w/texting, 1400 mins with rollover, a discount from work, and I pay $232 a month. Also, the customer service in the bricks and mortar for our local AT&T is outstanding. Case in point: both my dds wanted the 4g when it came out; only 1 of our #s was up for renewal, the other wouldn't be until 2 months from then (and that would've been the 18 month mark). DDs were about to have a brawl right in the store:scared1:; the girl went to talk to her boss, and they agreed to give us both phones right then.

I have my iPad with 3G the price is reasonable to have this service. My work pays for my Droid Smart phone. I prefer using my iPad over my Smart phone. My husband has basic phone w/ Sprint no textig. We just upgraded our computers to Macs. Just can not justify the cost for having an iPhone at this time even though it would be soooo nice. The money I save on my phone bill goes towards my Disney fund. Must say I do love apple products.

We are a family of five with three and soon to be four cell phone users. All of us would love an IPhone, but I am guessing it is way too expensive for us.

With that in mind, I figured I would ask and find out exactly what people are paying for family plans before I go any further.

Right now we have Sprint's Family plan that is 1500 minutes with unlimited texting for three phones. I also had the $10 a month data plan on my phone, but dropped it because my phone is just not set up to use the internet easily. The total bill is like $99 a month plus tax. (dh gets work discount)

So what could I expect to pay a month for three or four phones if we were to switch to an IPhone?

Thanks!!

In my house: Verizon Family Plan 1400 minutes. All lines have unlimited texting.
Line 1: iPhone, unlimited data plan, insurance on the phone
Line 2: Droid, unlimited data plan, insurance on the phone
Line 3: (teenager)dumb phone, no data plan
Line 4: (Grandma) dumb phone, no data plan

With all the taxes, fees, etc. our monthly bill is $235. :scared1:

We have

1 Iphone with unlimited data pkg
1 Iphone with unlimited data pkg
1 Iphone with 2GB data pkg
1 "not so smart phone"

We have the unlimited family texting plan, 1000 minutes, free nights and weekends and free mobile to mobile.

Our total bill is $190/month with DH's PepsiCo discount. DS18 pays us $25/month for the data plan on his Iphone, but we pay the $9.99 a month fee for his phone line. I figure the phone is a *necessity* but the Iphone/data plan is optional.

What carrier?

Maggie

We have AT&T 550 minute plan with five phones. I'm surprised that we don't need more minutes than that now that I see everyone else's plans but we rollover minutes every month. We do have free nights and weekends and also free calls to any other AT&T phones and virtually all our family and a lot of friends have at&t too.
We have:
2 iPhones unlimited data
2 iPhones 2G data plans
1 non-smart phone
Unlimited texting on all phones
We get a discount through my husband's employer (mine offers one too but not as large and AT&T only let us apply one to our account). Our bill is usually $203 a month.

I dont have an iphone but my son has a smart phone through straight talk. It costs me 48 dollars a month for unlimited talk, text and internet!!!!

We have a Verizon family plan and for 1 iPhone and two non-smartphones with 700 minutes and unlimited data/texting/messaging/etc. it's $159 a month.

Haven't read through the entire thread but my bill with Sprint runs $246 a month. That's with a $29.99 mobile hotspot for my EVO, two premium data packs ($10 each), insurance on all four phones ($8 each), 1500 shared minutes unlimited mobile to mobile and a work discount off the $129 plan cost. I can drop the hotspot whenever I don't see myself needing it. We all have smartphones but the only premium data packs I have to pay for are on the ones that are 4G. If I change my EVO to the iPhone 4S my monthly charges will remain the same. Only change I see is if my DH adds an iPhone (won't happen, he hates his smart phone) or my older DD gives up her BB in favor of an iPhone. I'm seriously concidering the iPhone for me in the next week or so, waiting for the 16GB to drop. Still not available anywhere...

Does anyone have the T-mobile $50 monthly unlimited talk, text and web? I'm interested in some reviews.

Maggie

We have 3 iPhones with 700 minutes, unlimited texting and unlimited data. Our monthly bill is $206. I get a 15% government discount on the first line's minute/texing plan and a 12% discount on the unlimited data plan.
