Month of September - WISH Team Walkers and Runners

I WILL remember to post more often....I WILL remember to post more often.....:rolleyes1

HI Everyone!!

Megan, I am sorry about your Grandma's passing, but glad that you had some nice visits with her recently.

I am sidelined with a wicked cold out of nowhere. First day since June that I haven't run according to my schedule. Grrr. I am hoping however that my recent runs (which weren't that great) were a result of my body coming down with this nasty cold. Tomorrow I hope to walk for a couple miles - and maybe get back to running Friday if I can breathe again.

Wow! What a beautiful day north of the border.

Megan--

I am so lucky; I have 3 days off and it will be 3 beautiful days up here. Today was a short run, 4.5 km. Tomorrow, I have a 10k on the bike trail; at least it will be flat there.
In 28 days, I will be in Naples for my annual vacation and 10 days later in WDW for the race for the taste. I can't wait.

Have a nice evening
Diane

Shannon - Welcome! Congratulations on the upcoming return home.

Megan - Good luck getting the runs in this week. They will help.

Jane - Great weather here too. After weeks in the 90's, we've had a couple of days with highs in the 70's. Makes running so much more enjoyable!

Treehugnmama - I always assume that I do so much walking at WDW that I can justify the lack of official training, but if you can get a couple of swims in, that would be great too. Have fun!

Terri - Good luck with the job. We just found out today that our company was sold to a major competitor. Won't know for a while what changes are in store, but LOTS of uncertainty. I feel your pain!

Frank - Good luck in Va Beach. Lots of our Galloway group will be there. I expect a much smaller group for our run on Saturday!

Kara - Have fun in DL!

Bibbidi - I'll bet your runs were your body telling you it was getting sick. Take it easy on the recovery. There's a lot of stuff going around right now.

As for me - DH and I went for a run tonight after work. It was wonderful to be able to run and not be dripping wet when we were done. It's still hot, but not miserably hot. He's working on getting me to run faster than I think I can, and it's working. Did 5 miles at an average pace of 11:26 tonight - with a R3/W1.

Jackie

WISHers...thanks for all the welcomes!

Megan... my thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family in this difficult time.

AFM...3 mi for me on the TM. Work didn't allow me to get in my morning run, so I had to settle for an indoor afternoon workout...man I hate the TM!

Meghan, sorry for your loss. Time is precious. Make time for you.

I did three miles before work. It's nice to get it behind me before breakfast! I've been doing R10/W3. Works out to one cycle/mile. I feel like I could keep going at the end. Soon I'll have to.

Anyone other MfM halfers waiting to get real?

Last day of work before vacation!

Ronda

I went on the bike trail for my run this morning and from now on (or until the snow arrive ) I will be there for anything longer than 60 minutes. I saw 1 cyclist and a couple walking their dog. It was so peaceful. Today was a 9km.
See you later, the dog is waiting to go play outside

Diane

Xtraining day for me today...got a 5 mi walk in outside this morning. Down to single digits now for my homecoming...7 days until I head back from South America!

Shannon - Yay!!! SAfe travels!

Wow, I really feel bad that I have wasted a week of beustiful weather by not workign out. then again, yesterday was teh first day I possibly could have done that with the post-race shape my legs were in. Gettign on teh ball otmorrow.

Have a wonderful holiday weekend everyone!

Thank you everyone! We had Grandma's funeral yesterday. I saw my Grandpa this morning and it finally hit him that when he gets home from bowling today, no one will be there to ask how he did and what his score was. It was the first time that I really saw him start tearing up. This might have been the first time that he was really home by himself since Grandma got sick too. My cousins have been staying there and this morning they both had to go to work. I hope he is going to be okay. He has all of us there for him. I'll have to start calling him more often now.

We're on our way back to Philly and we will need to get unpacked and packed so we can head out to Hershey for the week. Like I said, running by the chocolate fields, with chocolate streams and chocolate rivers. I have my "will run for CHOCOLATE" bondiband for this weekend's run too! I hope everyone has a good weekend!

I WILL remember to post more often....I WILL remember to post more often.....:rolleyes1

HI Everyone!!

Can you say this for me also?????

Sorry I have been a bad bad Wisher!! :sad2:
I have been away from the main thread for sometime. I find it hard to keep up with the captaining of the Warriors, the nametag thread and the hat/visor order. I do try to keep up with most of you over on FB. So I apologize for my not posting!

I am keeping up with training and am actually ahead of the miles on my training schedule. I feel this give me a "out" if the weather or events get in the way.

ALSO: If anyone missed out on the WISH shirt order, why not get a hat or visor to show your WiSH racing team pride?!!! Please see the link in my siggy below. I need a min of 36 items and I have 17 so far.

7 mi for me today...last long run here in Guyana! It was very hot outside, but some kind friends brought me and my running partner water along the way, so that made it bearable.

I just wanted to stop by really quickly and tell you guys what I got out of the Disney endurance attendant at the RnR expo today in VB. I tried my hardest to get anything about the new fall race out of them and they wouldn't budge. Finally I did tell her my thought of it being a pirate half to go along with the princess half and she told me that she could say it will not be pirate themed. It isn't a lot of info but my guess is out.

Great 11 mile run this morning with my group. Temps were actually cool for the first time at the start, although it got a little warm towards the end. We ran one of the really hilly courses, but I felt strong all the way through. Now we have to prepare for 20 next Saturday. I think I'm going to take it easy this week and just do a couple of 3 milers instead of the 4-5 mile runs DH and I have been doing. I'm still going to work on speed, but not push too hard (or so I say now!)

We're going to Carowinds tomorrow, so there will be lots of walking involved, and more than a few roller coasters. Nice break before the fall chaos starts at work!

Jackie

Got 5.5 miles in yesterday. Was a little stiff today. Especially in the hips. I think that was from going downhill for most of my r/w and trying to control my speed (when going downhill, I always have visions of getting too much momentum and taking a dive :scared1:).

Not much else to report for me. Weather is perfect now!

Terri

Megan  it's hard. I know, as we all do. I still miss my grandparents to this day and well my thoughts and prayers are with you during this very hard time.

Tracy! I just relocated my visor today! Who knows why I tucked it in with my WINTER running items, maybe hiding it from DH. LOL I'm tucking it into the box with my January items as I am thinking of using it. I am finding that with my running hat I am really getting hot.

Frank... I noticed you were collecting checks for a certain pasta meal? :lmao: Your bad! Had me wondering what planned dining meet I had missed. Too funny! Hope your VA Beach race went well!!!

Kara hope you had fun at DL today!!!

French Diane? That trail sounds lovely! How's the bugs? The blood suckers have been attacking unless we are covered in OFF when we do the local park. I hope they go away soon so we can all enjoy the lovely paths thru the trees :)

Liz, Tracy and Debra... it's Sept 6th and my 2nd post of the month. It's not boding well for my posting LOL

Chris? Pat is in California, something about a walk in the park?!?!? :thumbsup2 She did EXCELLENT!!! Her and Anne stayed together and did awesome on pace!!! (So did our b-day girl Wendy!!!)

My posting might be terrible but I have been training. :) I need to do better this next week with the core. I am averaging 2 core workouts a week and try for 3. I really need to watch that because while I am doing something for my core I notice my lower back isn't as crabby doing the longer miles.

I have been running 2 miles on the treadmill. No breaks! I had an amazing 2 miles this past Wednesday. I had an unexpected TM partner. I was into my run as she started up on the TM next to me. She is new to the gym and the TM. She was just starting out and hoped to make it to 30 minutes of walking. Anyways it felt so good to watch her conquer her goal and she was so happy when i explained the distance and pace to her (her 1st time on the TM) her face just lit up. It was really neat watching someone cross her own finish line right there in the gym.

Thursday was my long day. 15 miles. It went well. my time was 3:40:20 and an avg pace of 14:41. I was pleased though the last 2miles were tough, held the pace but i felt my foot falls were harder. didn't notice much until i tried more miles on Saturday and only did 6miles. Apparently I forgot to stretch a bit post 15 miles LOL Well there is always Monday ;)

Happy Labor Day Weekend!!

Interesting--I'm surprised they're not going the Pirate route. Maybe it will still be along the lines of the F&WF, but a 1/2 instead of a shorter race. :confused3

Hey all....

2nd post for the month.

Frank, funny thing with collecting checks!

Diane: Hey girl, how's it going??

AFM: I had a good weekend of training. I made up for missing Thursday nights 4 miles by doing them Friday morning. So Friday was a 4 miler. Saturday was a 3 miler slow and easy with a 9.10 mile bike ride. Today on tap with my Half Marathon training was a 7 miler, so I did 7.05 miles with a good pace. Feeling good today, just some tight hips when I get up. Allergies are acting up a bit.

Hope everyone has a great Labor Day holiday!!

-Racey Tracy

Diane and Tracy- I see you uncovered my dinner rouse. I would have gotten away with it too if it wasn't for you darn kids. :lmao:

The VA Beach run was fun and I finally managed to break the 90 minute mark. I didn't really go out to even do it since I was planning on pushing hard at the Phily run in 2 weeks but I got to mile 8 and was still on track so I decided to just try and stay consistant and when I hit mile 10 over a minute faster than the pace needed I knew I had it. I hit the boardwalk and thought maybe I can even beat 1:29 which I did. I finished with 1:28:39.

It was definitely the course for it. Other than a little incline at about 2.5 to go over a bridge and then one at about 10.6 coming back over the same bridge it was about as flat as you can ask for. One thing I noticed, and it might just be the nature of a resort town, is that the city absorbed the runners. In Nashville, Disneyland, and even the vastness that is WDW you can spot runners everywhere race weekend. There it wasn't so obvious. Just all of a sudden on Sunday there were 20,000 people ready to run.

Elite's races are definitely a class act. As of right now I may do the Chicago RnR next year but that might be it. I love their races but if I am going to do the coast to coast in 2011 I have to budget my races in 2010, which means drivable.

I'm back from DL half. Goofy training is getting to pay off for me. Weather was hot the days before, but was thankfully a bit cooler. My hips were the only thing screaming and I think that's good for me. I'm considering a trip to Erie, PA to do a half this weekend. Will monitor the weather, but I think I can do this!
