Month of November - WISH Team Walkers and Runners

Deb- Yes, I do have to say this was a great running year for me. I'm hoping next year continues the trend and is also a great cycling year.

I've been getting the miles back up since the marathon but I have a wedding in FL this weekend and couldn't find a race close to Tampa. I hate going anywhere and not doing a race. Oh well.

I hope everyone training for WDW is on track. I'm still jealous.

I climbed the Sears Tower Sunday. 2,197 steps. 103 floors. Plus some.
(how's that for out of the blue news)

I'll get my race report up later and try to catch up.

Like to see people still calling it Sears!!!!!!!!!!! :)
That is awesome!

What abt Trump's Tower? ;)

OK, I swear I posted here yesterday. :confused3

Liz - You are amazing. DId us WISHers proud! :worship:

Debra - Hope your world looks brighter on all fronts soon! :grouphug: At least there's a WDW trip not oto far away!

Diane & Susan - Dh and I will eb at Kensington/Kent Lake from ~1 to 4 SUnday for our 16. Want ot join in the fun? :upsidedow

Talked myself into going into the gym Wed evening...had a full day....but then surprised myself and did 5 miles on the TM in 75 minutes:) A first for me....my first 5K is right around the corner....2 weeks from tomorrow!

Thanks Carrie! But I will have to pass. I am planning on 18 again this weekend and after last weekends arch pain I think I will stick with the same route so DH can either pick me up if needed or bring me motrin and new shoes again LOL Though I am NOT using the shoes I started with last weekend. Those shoes are being considered for yard work now LOL

Have fun at Kensington!!! I just finished raking leaves AGAIN :upsidedow so I will be free to get out there and get some more miles in :)

Yesterday's miles went well. No pain just cement legs and tired :) But recovered well enough to rake for over an hour. Yay!

Hope the weather is great for everyones training this weekend!!! :cheer2:

Thanks for the offer Carrie, but I am going to have to pass this time. It appears as though I am sidelined for a little while with a stress fracture. :sad1:

Have a great day out there!!

I wish I would have known sooner. There is a pretty nice trail race going on Sunday in Lithia Springs, just east of Tampa. I ran the Marathon there in 2006. Here is a link:

Diane - Hoping the virtual 10K on Thanksgiving, which will be our 8-miler at Kensington, is our last run there of teh season. If snow hits our path, though, we'll be back. :sad2:

Susan - Oh no! :wizard::wizard::wizard: Take it easy. How long do ou need to be off? Scott had a stress fracture scare before 08. Not fun.:sad2:

Question folks - I cannot find a thread for a WISH meet in Jan - I was sure one was planned - I only seem to get on here once a week, and do not have time to search thru all the threads for info, can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks.

Lynn I'm not sure if there is a thread yet, but I think the tentative plan is for a meet on Friday at Pop Century Food Court at 4:30.

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone! I'm headed out for a marathon drive to my Mom's in Massachusetts arriving very late. Hope everyone enjoys the holiday and gets in a run or two. I brought my running stuff--now just need to use it!

Maura

Lynn - 4:30 Pop is a standard. See you there!

Maura - Oh, yeah, run away because you know you'll be in trouble. After struggling through 16 %^&%*% miles in Kensington and Island Lake Sunday, with "It's not really hilly" goign through my head, I was gonna come find, you. ;) ;) ;) ;)

Yup, I struggled through 16 miles for you-know-where Sunday. They are done. About all I can say. I did haev otehr issues too that did not help. Discovered my shoes are too narrow, even after going extra wide thelast time. Emergency shopping last night. Wish the local store wasn't doign so poorly adn unable ot get shoes. :sad2: Glad we have a good alternativev, jsut wish it was closer. Oh well. Hope to test the new shoes otnight.

Thanks for the info. I looked at that race and contemplated it just about every day for weeks but I had running around to do for the wedding so it just wouldn't have worked out. I made it down to Old Hyde Park though and did grabbed some espresso and walked around the neighborhood for a while so at least I got some walking in.

Went out and did just under 7 today. All ready for the 5 miler on Thanksgiving and trying to figure out when I can get the other 1.2 in. Probably after I let all the food settle from grandma's.

Hey everyone! Almost done with November - January will be here before we know it. Got in some good miles this month. Some of them slower than I would have liked but still got 'em in :) I also did a 10K last weekend and PB'ed! Took 2 minutes off my 10K from October. Yay!

Went out for a slow 4 miler last night - I was running on the road with my blinky light and still almost got mowed over by someone not paying attention. I guess the situation is somewhat ironic. The guy was driving while on his cell phone so while he wasn't paying attention to what was going on, he wasn't really going fast either.

Heading into the gym tonight for some speedwork. Not really liking the TM much this year but since it's dark by the time I leave work, I don't have much of a choice!

Carrie - WTG on the 16 miler! What kind of shoes did you end up getting?

Maura - Safe travels!

Liz - Congrats on your tower climb! Sounds like quite the challenge!

Hope everyone's training is going well! Happy Thanksgiving :)

i'm so embarraseed. I don't know. All I know is they are ASICs, felt wonderful adn were only $90. It's been a crazy week. :rolleyes1

This thread has ground to a halt this month. Went out and did just under 6 today. I felt a little dehydrated but the weather was pushing 60 and there was no way I would pass up what might be one of the last shorts only runs of the year.

Hi Wishers! I had a short 6 miles today in Valley Green. It was so nice since the other times I've been there it has been rainy. Aaannd... I ran into a WISHer! Kira was out there for her run! Thanks to my new visor (thanks Tracy!) she was able to spot me!

Last day of the month....anyone up for a little Cyber Monday shopping?

I had a rather off 12 miler yeseterday--was supposed to be 13, but couldn't bear the thought of adding on 1 mile loop. Was sore and tired afterwards, which is not normal for me. I think I'll go swim today for what I hope is a little bit of active rest.

Also think I'll go buy new shoes-I'm due anyway, so maybe that was a contributing factor.

Hope everyone is training well.

Maura

Maura - I bought new shoes Saturday. Wasn't exactly due, but I couldn't pass it up. One of our local running stores has a deal for our Galloway team where he gives us $10 for every 50 miles we run during the season. Then he gave us 26.2% off on Saturday, so after I cashed in $40 worth of miles (the max he allowed at one time), I paid $39 for a new pair! Now I have to break in two pairs before January...

Did 5 miles on Thursday at a local Turkey Trot (PR'd the course, but not the distance), then ran 10 on Saturday. Am scheduled to hit the track tonight with DH for speedwork. Victory Junction Half is 2 weeks away, but discussed maybe doing it as R1/W1 with a couple of friends because of the hills. One of my team leaders is really worried about me doing it so close to Goofy, but I promised her I'm only doing it as a training run. I did NOT tell her I was considering running on Saturday prior to the race to make it a B2B!
