Maura? Serirously? You don't think Kensington is hilly? that's my toughest course. It's beautiful adn I feel like I have accomplished tons when there, but it those things that go up adn down seem a lot like hills to me. Always slow there. Is there a jaw dropping smiley sometwhere? I just can't belieev you don't call it hilly. Diane? Skywalker Dave? SOmeone chime in here. I think you are being way too hard on yourself. BTW, I can only run it CCW or else my hammy/piri formis take a beating. You may want ot try the other direction next time to see if that helps the aches. BTW, they do keep it plowed in teh winter. SOmetimes, though, it doesn't get plowed until noon on Saturday which makes fo a tough first part of the run. Will be ther for my LR in a couple weeks.
OK, taking a break. the half 2 weeks ago adn ToT did a number on me. Piri formis is flaming, along iwth hammy and hip. Ice adn advil seem to eb helping. Getting amassgae on Thursday. Can't ebliev I have to wait that long but this person is supposed to be good. She's an Ironman. What more oculd I want?![]()
Carrie,
I agree that Kensington is hilly. There aren't too many hills in Michigan. I am convinced that most of the hills in Michigan are located in Kensington! Keep up with that ice and Advil. I hope the massage does wonders for you. I have been doing the ice and Advil too. I thought I had shin splints, but I think it is actually something worse. Only time and x-rays will tell.

for all the bumps and ouchies! A trainer I worked out with a couple of weeks ago showed me a really great stretch for the IT band. Basically, you do a walking lunge. As you're coming back up, before you go into the next lunge, grab the foot that was at the back, cross it in front of your body, hold it for a few seconds and then that leg will go in front for the next lunge. Alternatively, I guess you could just stand on one leg, hold on to the other foot, cross that leg in front of the other and stretch your IT band that way but I like to incorporate the lunges as part of my warmup.
Didn't meant ot leave you out.
Well, we have a decent amount o fhills over here (not on my course, but a decent amount in the area). Also, Bishop, where I trainined fo cross in HS, has some nasty hills too, but they are unpaved trails (or were). So, they aren't all at Kensingotn, jsut maybe 90%.

Hopetheings are getting better!
How's the job hunting going?

I am fairly new here myself, but it has been great! Great people great advice, great friends!
Hope you are able to get your system turned around.
I'll bet John was glad to have you join him!
