Month of July - WISH Team Walkers and Runners

Thanks Mel and Tracey for the office......but yikes...in the 80's maybe I will quit whining now:rolleyes1

Thanks FAN9. I am leaning towards the MfM run plan, but may back off to run/walk if the longer runs prove to much. I am worried about speed. I am losing weight and getting faster, but continue to run around 14:00/mile. I don't feel as if I have much to give in this area. On the plus side, I am now only hauling a kindergardner on my back. I used to haul a fifth grader back there ;) Hopefully speed will come as the weight drops and by January I can be down to a toddler.

I am perplexed by the increases though. They indicate that the rule is to not increase workouts by more than 10% week over week (page 72 for those following along). Later in the half run plan week 6 jumps from 3 to 6 miles on the weekend run. Way more than 10%. How did other newbs handle that bump?

Thanks for any insights,
Ronda

I don't have MFM in front of me but the week of 3 miles may have been a cutback week. You'll often see those in training plans...you get a cutback week after a mileage increase. Helps to prevent injury.

Don't worry too much about speed right now. You'll get faster as your mileage continues to increase. Many of us have used MFM successfully!

Ronda,

That week is exact what Chimera says. Every so often in a plan you will have a cut back week. The long runs for that plan at 2-3-4-5-3-6,etc. I just happen to have the book next to me as I read your post! Hope that helps!

Hi everyone, I've been doing some steps this weekend on the fencline of my friend's farm. Whew, that was fun. So was the bike ride we took on Friday. We had a stop for lunch then later for ice cream. I think I didn't put in enough to justify this food intake, but at least I've been moving. Happy training to all!

A picture paints a thousand words...so here's a novel. :happytv:

My video site was hacked, so please go to my Facebook profile page, and look for my video's there.

Hello, WISHers

I've been MIA again. But (hopefully) I'm truly in training now. :scared1:

I did 8.5 miles on the TM on Sat. I still haven't remembered how one gets up before 5AM on a Saturday to run! Can someone remind me!?!?!?

Congratulations Jeff!! Looks like you really had fun with your first Tri...:cool1: That Kobe beef burger and onion rings made my mouth water, and it's only 8am here in CA...yummy! What a great way to treat yourself, a massage and a yum meal!

Happy Monday to everyone. Back to my yoga/pilates CT later today...

Thanks. D'oh! They are trying to give me a break and I miss it.

Hi all, I just wanted to come say Hi. I had a 4 mile run downtown on Saturday and had a killer time. All the distance I am putting in for the marathon is helping the shorter runs. I still haven't PR'd a 5K this year but did a 10K PR in June and the 4 Miler yesterday was a PR also.

Hopefully everyone's running is going well. I'll come back and catch up on the thread later.

Hello Everyone!

WTG for everyone getting out regardless of distance or time.
PD for anyone injured.

Didn't do much Sat (well at least not exercise wise - lots of housework). Yesterday however I rode 3.5 miles to gym, 45 min weight/core, 2 miles on stationary bike during carido bursts (2 min cardio inbetween each core exercise), 10 min stretching, 8 laps in the pool, 10 min hot tub then 3.5 mile ride home. First time I've done that (ride to/from gym) but enjoyed it. Think it'll become part of weekend routine.

Today will either be down time or pool time. Will see how I'm doing when leave work.

Have a great day!!

Hello Everyone!

Just checking in to say hello and see how everyone is doing.

Got 8 miles in yesterday and have been staying on schedule with two mid week runs of 3 and 4 miles.

I myself have never went with an official plan so I can't help at all there.

Now to go back and read some more of the thread!!!

Hey Everyone!

Does anyone know if there will be a shirt order this year? I need some shirts. I had a hat and a visor, but they didn't work with my melon so I thought I'd see. Need some racing gear and was hoping that an order would happen.

Later all!!!

Chris,

Mel just posted something about an upcoming order at the end of summer I recall. I'll try and find the info for you.

Are your hat and visor too small? Let me know.

Jeff,

Yeah they were too small. In our recent house cleaning they were removed from my hat stash and given to a local charity.

What was weird is my DR hat was the same style and fit fine. Strange.

Found the note you were talking about. Got a month it sounds like to get the funds together!!!

JEFF!!!! I couldn't watch your video at home (ancient computer) so had to WAIT till lunch today. Let me tell you I quickly scanned my mail. Remembered I planned on watching your video and swallowed a PBJ! I think in 5 minutes? Whatever timeframe your video is, add in 2 minutes extra to scan mail and that was my lunch. but I HADto watch.

Looks like it was ton of fun. Your poor legs after the bike segment. OUCH! Amazing! Thanks for getting the pics and doing the video. It was great seeing it. I loved the pics of the girls! Too cute! Are they doing kids races? Just wondered with all the races you do if it gives them the bug too.

Congrats!!!!

I DID do the gym tonight. 1 hr 20 min. Core training. 15 min on the bike and 20 min on the TM. :woohoo:

Be back for more tomorrow. I've been promised NO software meetings for the rest of the week!!! Maybe I can A) work on getting the data INTO the system, B) finish a test payroll. C) PAY the employees this week! :lmao: I'll be lucky to get the employees paid from the old system. *sigh* My co-workers are making fun of what USED to be my spotless desk. It looks like a tornado hit it and came back again and again and again :scared1:
