Hello everyone!

For those new to us, we are a group of people who are planning to participate in walking/running events throughout the year. For most of us, the ultimate goal is to train and compete in the annual WDW Half/Full marathons. We'll also be posting news and training for various other events throughout the year. We range from beginners to triathletes. Come join us, whether you're training for an event or walking/running for fitness

Soooo, how's that taper madness going for everyone? I did my first 3 miles of the new year today. Definitely looking forward to next weekend and starting to build the race schedule for 2010!

I'm going to ask if it could be any sooner as I have a race on the 7th and it would be a good one for a test run.....i expcet the answer will be no, but it never hurts to ask.;)

Taper starts in earnest this afternoon. Just got home from my 10-mile run, ate my tacos, and am ready for active recovery (i.e. sitting on the couch) for the rest of the weekend. :)
 

Good luck with all of you last runs and tapering. For me the end of December was a low running time of year. I am starting my training for the National half tomorrow so I wanted to take a couple of weeks to do really low miles. Plus I have been fighting a little cold the last couple of days. Nothing big and I really don't feel too badly but figured I'd take the opportunity to do my rest now.

I'm so with you! We did 8 this morning - one of my running buddies has done Goofy before, and wouldn't let us run the 10 that the rest of the group was doing. She was adamant that we cut the route short and stop at 8, and I wasn't about to argue with her. :lmao:

Had lunch, shopped a little with DD and her BF, and am about to head out for her early birthday dinner. (Seems mom and dad will be at WDW when the actual birthday occurs, so she has to go back to school and celebrate without us.) We've gotten more than a little grief about that one. :confused3

Doing laundry :laundy: and packing for the rest of the weekend.

No taper madness here. Doing pretty good. I have a 6-7 miler tomorrow, then a 3-4 on Tuesday and then head to Disney on Thursday.

I have another Half Marathon 3 weeks after Disney and then Princess in March so I will just keep on trucking. After Princess I may need some surgery on my toe again and then hope to be ready for the Disneyland Half.

Trying to decide on finally breaking down and training for a full, maybe Mickey 2011. After all I gotta do one someday, right? ws just trying to get my half time shorter and looks like I am getting in the 2:45 range. (and before I need a whole new toe!)

Sitting here with taper madness in full effect. Freaking out that this Goofy thing is less than a week away. Had a bad run this morning. My legs didnt want to cooperate and they felt horrible. I did about 5 miles for my last "long" distance before the races. I am going to try and get in a few 2-3 milers this coming week. Me and Dh will be driving up on Thursday afternoon heading straight to the Expo and then to check in at Pop.

Good luck with Taper madness everyone and I can't wait to see everyone next Friday - it will be my first official WISH meet although I have been a part of WISH since 2007 - my travel plans never fell into place.
 
Taper madness... I had a five mile TM run this morning. Three Tuesday and Thursday and that's it. I have a growing list of stuff I must have...
Socks, I need some long tube socks... my arms might get cold... a poncho, must be prepared for rain. Some of those ziploc snack size bags for my phone (rain, again).

Today DGF and I looked at oriental rugs and some stoves that cost more than my first car. If we leave town now no one gets hurt.

Hi everyone! I am new here but not new to running. Disney races to date= WDW Full 2006 and Princess 2009. Planning on either the Goofy or the full in 2011.

I look forward to sharing training and racing stories with you. Very best of luck to those racing this coming weekend! I am envious....

ps I'd love to get on a WISH team for 2010, if there are openings

I have a date for getting my arms measured, next wednesday at 11.:thumbsup2

They have also said that it will be ready by the 4th of feb.:woohoo::cheer2:
 
I've got one 3 mile run left on Wednesday, then it's off to the World for the 1/2 on Saturday. Can't wait even though it looks like it will be cold this week at WDW.
 
I'm pretty much done. Did some xt today, but still fighting a cold, so trying to take it easy and get the meds in. It's gonna be a tough Goofy this year, so I'm just gonna take my time and do it one mile at a time.

Hi Wishers! I'm looking at my schedule for Friday from TnT. The Inspiration Dinner is at 2 in the World Showplace in Epcot. The second dinner starts at 6:30, so I am trying to figure out how long mine will last. I would feel guilty about leaving early to go to the Pop meet, but I don't want to miss the Pop meet either. I may splurge and take a cab from Epcot to Pop if I am able to leave the dinner anytime near 4:30. How much do you think a cab would cost? If I'm not able to make it, I hope I'll be able to see everyone on race day.

Maybe $8-$12. Look for the Pop bus as you go to the cab stand.... If there is a bus standing you won't spend a lot more time taking the bus. It is a direct, unshared route
 
I hope everyone is all ready for race day(s). I went out and had a fun snow run last night. The roads were plowed but there was about an inch on the ground. It slowed me down but I do like running in the snow. It also served as a good warm up before shoveling the driveway.
 
i'd love to join you all here! i'm new to running. i've been running for almost three months. i run about four miles every other day. i have a few races scheduled locally over the next year. my long-term goal is to run the donald in 2011!

Sounds like you're building up a great base. You'll definitely be ready for Donald in 2011. :thumbsup2 Are you using a particular training program?
