Hello everyone!

For those new to us, we are a group of people who are planning to participate in walking/running events throughout the year. For most of us, the ultimate goal is to train and compete in the annual WDW Half/Full marathons. We'll also be posting news and training for various other events throughout the year. We range from beginners to triathletes. Come join us, whether you're training for an event or walking/running for fitness

New WISH Team members. If you read one thing over and over, believe this. Being part of this team is fantastic. Part of the ride you get for the event is what I call the roller coaster. There will be lots of ups and downs. The more you post here, the more you will find yourself enjoying the ride. It is an incredible journey. Don't be afraid, shy or whatever to come here and just post up anything. You don't have to know us right away, or all of us at all. You will get to know some of us. It makes the event you are enjoying have MORE meaning and we love to have you.

Hi everyone! Got out this morning for a 3.7 mile run... really chilly with the wind and I wish I had wore a little more. Nothing too exciting but I'm glad I got it done so I'll have more time tonight. Looking forward to Lost!

Have a great day everyone!

Hi everyone! I tried to come over here earlier, but the boards were acting crazy. I'm heading the TKD class tonight. I'm trying to switch my work schedule so that I can get in earlier and then get to the gym earlier. We make our own hours generally as long as we arrive between 7 and 9:30. I've been arriving closer to 9:30. Today I got in at 8 (I had a 9 am meeting). I can manage that time easily as long a I start getting to bed earlier. Wish me luck!

Megan - I start at 7:30. I am NOT a morning person, but it's so nice to get off at 4. It should seem much easier to get your work outs in. Takes a bit to get used to, thouugh. Good luck!

nursepammi - Way to go! Hope you are still feeling that way tomorrow! ;)

I managed my second run today since taking some time off after the marathon and am happy to say that I did a 4 miler with no problems. I was smilling when done (not a natural facial position for me---and I can't stand it when people say "Smile"!) So I am happy. Followed up with a yoga class, which I am committing to do at least twice a week.

Vicky Also looking forward to Lost. Now if I can just remember the plots from last year!

Megan You could always do what I used to do--workout at 5:30 am! Of course, I don't do that anymore.

nursepammi Congrats on your workout. Sounds like it went well.

Maura

is there still a thread with everyones race schedules? Can you point me to it if there is?

Hello all and welcome to February. The month started out a bit nuts for me because our production server crashed at work. I put in 17 hours yesterday and we got the server fixed so once the tapes get back from out disaster recovery site in Michigan I will be going in tonight for a while to get the server back online. Thank God for being hourly :thumbsup2

I got out and had a great run though after work and before work again. The weather looks like it will be low 30's all week which, sadly, is much warmer then it has been her in Northeastern Ohio.

Vicky: Had no idea you were a Lostie! We'll have to compare notes after I catch up!

Megan: GOOD LUCK with shifting your hours--getting up earlier would be hard (for me), but so worth it! Did you get all your Princess 1/2 stuff straightened out?

NursePammi: WTG with your 2/2 training streak! :woohoo:

Maura: Yay for running with a smile on your face. Never happens to me, but I'm delighted you're running pain free. Almost makes me smile.

Frank: Ugh, marathon work days aren't nearly as rewarding as other marathons. No matter what your pay scale. Hope all goes smoothly and that the weather warms up for you (and me) soon.

AFM: Just popping in here, hoping to keep up with thing. No running today--strength & XT--but I had a nice run yesterday. It warmed up to the mid-30s, so of course I went out overdressed. This weekend it's supposed to dump down to the mid-20s again, though, just in time for a (short) LR. ;)

Maura - Hooray for teh great 4-miler! That's awesome! I do smie when I see scream teamers at races, but smiling while training? Wow!

Frank - Ugh. Hope things have slowed down. 17 hours? Insane!

Debra - Yeah, especially after marathon, I finsd myself over dressing now.

Was lazy and skipped teh TM last night. Bad me. Did 6 am core conversion, though. Still can't believe I am gettign to a work out before 6 am. :scared1:

Hi everyone! Happy Friday :) I slept in yesterday and thought I missed my chance for a run. It's funny how missing something as small as 2 miles can make me feel so guilty. Luckily, DF happened to be downtown and drove me to the gym. I got there 30 minutes before my training session so was able to hop onto the TM for about 20 minutes. Yay! I have a 13 miler tomorrow so I'm just looking at the different routes around my area. A lot of the sidewalks are icy - they weren't cleared earlier this week, so they melted and refroze.

Maura - I rarely smile on training runs either. Glad you had a good 4 miler! I'm trying to fit in yoga twice a week too.

Debra - Did you watch Lost on Tuesday? Hoping the weather doesn't get too cold for you on the weekend.

Megan - What's a TDK class?

nursepammi - WTG on the training!

Frank - Yikes! 17 hours that's some serious overtime!

Carrie - WTG on the morning workout! I usually can't make it out of bed before 6AM. Unless we're going to Disney :)

Have a great day everyone! :wave2:

happy friday!

i am running my first 5k in the morning. i hope the weather cooperates. we are supposed to get a ton of rain overnight. our ground is already over 100% saturated. part of the area could be flooded, on our way to there. so, i'm hoping that it isn't too bad in the morning. it's supposed to stop overnight.

my goal for february is to run an average of 14 miles a week for the rest of the month. i'm only going to have 12.7 for this week (ran a shorter distance this morning). not a great start, but i'm eager to get back on track next week!

I'm new here! Hello everyone! :wave2:

I'm hoping to do the half marathon next Jan. Running hurts my knees, but I use to be a pretty decent speed walker. I have so far to go to get in shape and build up both my speed and endurance. I thought shooting for the WDW half marathon would give me a hard date to stay focussed on.

My goal is to get back to a good walking program, and supplement with stairmaster, elipitcal machine and weights. I could use any suggestions on how to prep for something like this!

Thanks! :hippie:

....Oh one last thing. When would I have to sign up for this?

Emily - Just starting is the key. One step at a time. Looks like you're doing great to me!

ILuvKingLouis - Welcome to WISH! Many of us have trained using Marathoning for Mortals by John Bingham. Excellent book! You should look into signing up soon, though. Last year, it was full by May. You can go to the registration site to see how full it is. There should be a link in the welcome thread.

I got out this morning and did my 5 mile long walk. I don't normally go out in the morning but the snow was on the way. Right now, we have about 1 1/2 inches of the white stuff and it's still coming down fairly steadily. There calling for about 8 inches by morning. I also got my short walks done on Monday and Wednesday of this week.

Next week could be tough getting good walks in. I normally walk to Rail to Trail paths that don't get plowed. I will probably need to get out somewhere else for my walks.

Hi everyone,

Off to a 10k tomorrow. A little worried, since I haven't run as much this week. Didn't run yesterday do to craziness at the gym (did bike for 45 minutes) or today. Still should end up in the 35 mile range for the week.

Best,
Jennifer

I'm going to have to find some time on the TM tomorrow. I'm also excited because my chapter of TnT is doing a special short season for the Broad Street Run. If anyone is interested in participating, PM me and I'll give you details.

I do read everyone's posts, but I am usually at work and trying get updates and hope off the DIS as quickly as possible, but tonight I've got time!

wtpclc I'm certainly not able to get into work by 7:30. Getting into work at 8 two days in a row was a record for me.

Maura I love it when I can finish a run smiling. My TnT coach noticed difference in me as soon as I followed her training plan. I would love it if I could get in a 5:30 am workout. DBF is not all that supportive when I need to get up early for things. He complained all fall because I was going out early one day each weekend for my runs.

Deb I think I have everything set for Princess weekend (except telling DBF that I will be there for almost a whole week. I am staying at SSR, BLT and BCV. I got flights on Southwest (I love them!) and now I just need to figure out food while I'm there. Kirsty will be joining me for the race and I've already told her that she needs to drag me to a PR.

bunnyfoo I hope you get your 13 miles in safely! I'm looking at 8-10 miles on the treadmill this weekend since I don't expect to be able to do much outside except shovel! TKD= Tae Kwon Do. I've been training for years, but took the last 1.5 years off and started going back to classes in November. DBF's little brother just got his black belt in October and some friends who were a few belts behind me that were test for their black belt confirmed (you have to continue training for 6 months after your initial black belt test to show that you aren't there just for the black belt). If I'm lucky, I will only have to wait one more year before I have my black belt.

fairestoneofall Good luck with the 5k! That is a great goal for the month! I may need to steal that idea.

IluvKingLouis Welcome! That was how I got started here. I registered for last year's Princess and started training for it about 9 months out. I would recommend keeping your eyes on how full the race is. Once it gets to 50% you might want to consider signing up. I seem to recall last year filling up much more quickly.

As for me, getting in early didn't last too long. I got in by 8 two days and then was up all night Wednesday with a sick kitty. I ended up taking her to the vet where she got x-rays. She didn't get much better last night though so this morning we were up early and the vet said either an ultrasound to rule out a blockage in the intestines or go straight to the surgery. We got the ultrasound done and she didn't have a blockage, but now we are waiting on blood tests to see if she has pancreatitis (which I now need to research since I'm not familiar with it at all). My poor baby had to have both sides shaved for the ultrasound and she was given prevacid and a few other drugs including pain killers. The poor thing looks so stoned right now, just sitting there dazed. I just hope they can fix her and bring me back my snuggle-kitty.

Hey everyone! I dont usually post here but read often for running motivation. Its about 645 am and I am heading out to do a 13 mile run.....and REALLY having a hard time getting out there this morning. Its cold, dark, and Im just tired of running in the cold! My half marathon is in 2 weeks so this will be my last long run before my race. The best part is Im heading to FL for 2 weeks a few days after so hopefully these days of running in 10 degrees or less will be behind me soon! Thanks for all your posts and giving me some inspiration to get out there this morning!
Lisa
