Oh boy! I get to start this month! :cool1:

Hello everyone!

For those new to us, we are a group of people who are planning to participate in walking/running events throughout the year. For most of us, the ultimate goal is to train and compete in the annual WDW Half/Full marathons. We'll also be posting news and training for various other events throughout the year. We range from beginners to triathletes. Come join us, whether you're training for an event or walking/running for fitness

New WISH Team members. If you read one thing over and over, believe this. Being part of this team is fantastic. Part of the ride you get for the event is what I call the roller coaster. There will be lots of ups and downs. The more you post here, the more you will find yourself enjoying the ride. It is an incredible journey. Don't be afraid, shy or whatever to come here and just post up anything. You don't have to know us right away, or all of us at all. You will get to know some of us. It makes the event you are enjoying have MORE meaning and we love to have you.

Marathon Weekend is next Month already! I'm guessing this thread will start hopping soon!

Happy training everyone!

Jackie - Yes, please listen to your body! SOunds like even the 10 min rule was too much for you last night. I do hope things feel better today. Still, sounds liek you coudl use some rest.

Lily - Seems like the only tiem you rest is when abosolutely required. Hope you don't try to make up for the time off, buy overdoing.

I did 60 min last night. Nothing stellar. Taking 3 miles to warm up on a 60 min run does not leave much room for teh good part of the run. :upsidedow Still, I shoudl eb jumping for joy that it's Dec 1 and we can still run outside! Snow's supposed to coem this week. Ah well, fun while it lasted.....

Carrie - I saw a little bit of white stuff this morning on the roofs and the grass. I'm trying really hard to pretend it's frost. I'm really impressed we've made it this far with the weather we've been having.

I know what you mean about warming up on a run. Sometimes it takes me a mile or two to get into and to get things going and by the time I'm good to go, the run is already over.

AFM - Worked out at the gym last night. I'm still having a little bit of knee pain on the right side so I may turn my Thursday training session into an ART session. I'm hoping it will go away because I'd rather work out. I'm planning on running 4.5 miles tonight. I'll probably take it nice and easy.

Have a great day everyone! :wave2:

I'm heading to the gym tonight. I'm supposed to do 5 miles. On Sunday's run I took some tylenol before leaving the house. I think that made all the difference as it took me much less time to warm up. I was feeling good as soon as I was done with my first 1/2 mile.

Happy Birthday to me! A little yoga, a little chocolate, a walk in the sunshine....then back to reality--patching/sanding/prep for painting bedroom walls and cooking dinner!

Maura

(Whose new age is the sum of the distances of my first race at Disney (Minnie 15k) + my Disney race this year (Donald) + my upcoming Disney race (Mickey) + the number of hours in the day/10)

Have a question for all the more experienced Wishers. My dd did the Philly 1/2 a couple weeks ago (her first 1/2) and had a much better time than we had put as her estimated time on the entry. What do we do to get her 'bumped' up to a corral that will be more comfortable for her fast pace? I read somewhere that you can email the info, but I'm not sure what/where.

Maura - HAppy Birthday! I thought I wsa good at math, but you can't eb the age I figured. ;) Hope you have more time to do the fun stuff again soon!

Patty - Have her take her proof of time to the info booth at teh expo and they will change it fro her.

Vicky - Frost. Just pieces of frost floating around. Liekt he way you think!

My run this morning was five miles. The MfM plan is starting to push up the time/distance and I can really tell. I'm beginning to feel some twinges as I run, but nothing I'd call pain. My times are improving. This summer I was sure I was doomed to 13:00 forever. Not that there's anything wrong with 13:00, but I wanted to take some pictures along the way and need a cushion to take the camera out. Today's run was R3/W1 and averaged 11:50. If I keep this up the camera gets to come along for the run!!

The window for emailing proof of time to Disney has closed. Take it to the expo and they will change her corral.

Ronda

Hey everyone! Did a 4.5 miler last night and it was slow! My knee felt fine so I figured I was okay to go out. It started to hurt about 2 miles in so I was undecided about turning back. I kept going but slowly, then I just started to get cold because I wasn't moving fast enough. I'm not sure if I should go back out tonight - it's definitely not going to be a tempo run. Can't wait until my PT appointment tomorrow!

Maura - Happy belated birthday! I'm also bad at math because I came up with fractions!!

Rhonda - Hey! I ran at 13:00 m/m last night - what are you trying to say ;) I'm just kidding, that's not my usual pace. Congrats on improving your pace!! That's fantastic!

Carrie - Snow is in our forecast this Thursday. I'm hoping they're wrong.

Have a great day everyone! :wave2:

Thanks for the info for dd's time. Getting so excited that it's only five weeks until Disney!!!! Technically we get there on Thursday, so tomorrow is five weeks, but hey, it's getting close!

Patty - Yes, getting very close. Wit h the holidays, teh time will fly by!

Ronda - Good job on teh pace! Hope those twinges stay only as twinges. DOn't let them go too far without takign a serious look at them, though.

Syko - Happy belated brithday!!! Hope it was a wonderful day!!!

Vicky - Yup, snow starting possible tomrorow morning and going through Saturday. (Don't knwo about further, only care about SAturday for now. :rotfl:) 'Tis the season to live from LLR to LLR.

I did 40 min of yoga last night. HAd been too long. felt good!

Happy Birthday Maura and Syko.

I went out and did a run to look at Christmas lights. Two birds with one stone :thumbsup2.

I overdressed a little bit which is always unpleasant but I'll survive.

Hopping over to MK on your birthday.... Nice! :cloud9:

Frank - So hard this time of year. Not used to the cold yet adn I don't want to be cold when i leave thoe house or I may go back in. ;) I've ben overdressing a lot too.

Syko - Happy Birthday!!

Frank - Lots of houses in my area have put up Christmas lights as well. It makes running at night a lot more fun :) One house did a really nice job with blue and white lights. It would probably look a lot nicer with snow but I'll just use my imagination for that one.

Carrie - I tend to overdress too, especially on short 5K runs. It usually takes me about that long to warm up anyway.

AFM - I'm probably going to skip my run tonight. My soleus really started pulling during my lunch time walk. I figure I'll skip a short run in the hopes of getting in a longer one on the weekend. *sigh* It still bums me out to skip a run though.

Have a great night everyone! :wave2:

Hi Carrie and fellow Wishers, after a long absence I am back and ready for the 2010 1/2 Marathon. In the last 13 weeks I have lost 46.5 pounds and my training is going well. With weight loss the knee pain that had plagued me has disappeared. I can't wait to be a part of the Wish team again, the support is incredible.:cheer2:

I rejoined weight watchers today. We have it at work for the next 10 weeks. I hope I can drop 10 lbs by marathon weekend.

Happy Birthday Maura and Syko!

congrats Barbara!

AFM - not much training for the next couple days. Taking a road trip to southern WV, to a little town along the Appalchian trail. Taking a bunch of goodies I hope they can use and gifts for the kids for Christmas. My way of spreading some pixie dust (had a lot of help from family and friends in collecting things).

Should be back in training mode by Sunday (if I don't get snowed in anywhere!)
