Month of August - WISH Team Walkers and Runners

Hello Wishers.

Welcome Erica. Glad to have you aboard!!! Looks like you have alot on your plate. Awesome!

Debra - Her training is back at it. She had a ankle injury/problem and is back at it now. She's at 2 miles each time and she is now on a program so I think it's helping her. Thanks for asking that's very thoughtful. Great job on the first back to back. Keep up the great work!

Kim - Nice job on the 10.4k yesterday!!!

Everyone else...:wave2:

Got 3 miles in tonight. Went pretty good. I really need to get my eating in order. Ya'll keep me to that!!!!

Hey everyone....

Wounded Warrior checking in..haha.

Debra: Thanks for checking in about the PT. Shin is feeling better. I have one more PT session on Friday and then check in with the doctor, hopefully can start woggin soon!

Did a 5 miler walk on Sunday and not too shabby and no soreness in the shin.

Welcome to anyone that is new that I haven't welcomed yet.

Also, keep you fingers crossed as I signed an offer for a townhouse. It is a long shot, but now it is the waiting game to see what they will accept.

Tracy

Yay! Erica is here too! :yay::banana: Hi Erica!:flower3:

Rest day for me today. Speed drills on schedule for tomorrow.

Katie and Jennifer, welcome to WISH! :goodvibes

Tracy, I hope everything works out with the townhouse.

Michelle, hi! :wave2:

I am counting down the days until the Disney 1/2. I can't wait. Of course, the thing I'm most concerned about at this point is which running skirt to wear for the race. :rotfl:

Lots of new folks! Welcome to all the new Dis WISH members! :wave2:

Not much to report for me. Had the MRI on my knee tonight. Should have the results by Wed. (it's not my knee that hurts, but my calf, but Dr. wants to make sure the injury isn't really in my knee) :confused3
Hope to get this fixed soon. I'm ready to start Goofy training and am going a bit stir crazy not being able to run (even as slowly as I run). Plus I'm supposed to be doing a 1/2 in 6 weeks! :scared1:

Happy training to all!

Terri

Hey all!
I just made my first post on the Disney's Princess Half Marathon thread, as I found these boards during research for that race. My name is Alicia, I'm 25 from MA (but orignally from south Jersey). I've started my training for what will be the longest race I've done as I've only done a few 5Ks here and there.
It seems like this is a great place to come for encouragement during the training, and I know I'm going to need it. I'm really excited to run my first half marathon - and in DISNEY, of all places! If that's not motivation enough, I don't know what is!
I hope to get to know you all a little better during the next few months and beyond.
Alicia

:welcome:Alicia, I did my first half in Disney in 2006. It was an awesome experience. Good luck to you!

Hello Wishers,

I need some prayers from everyone. My grandmother is not doing too well. She went into the hospital last week with some blood clots. The treatment for those is going well, but they have discovered a tumor on her liver. We are waiting for tests to come back to see exactly what is going on and how far along things are. She wasn't eating, but my mom is trying to reason with her. They won't let her go home if she doesn't eat. My mom says that there is no need for me to go home just yet. They might be considering hospice care which scares me. I work on Medicare appeals and see hospice cases every single day. We'll see how everything turns out tomorrow.

Needless to say it is now 9pm and I am just finishing work since I took a really long break in the middle of the day to compose myself and then it took me about 5 hours to write one decision (which would normally take 30-45 minutes). I'm heading home now that my phone is all charged up again. I think a run might do me some good, but I am so drained right now that the thought of doing anything except sleep make me even more tired.

I'll keep everyone updated though.

Megan- Hope everything works for your grandma.

I haven't caught up on the thread yet but wanted to update everyone. I went out and did a 10K around the neighborhood yesterday after work. It was the hottest run I have done so far this year since I usually wait for the sun to go down. I dragged a little in the middle but ended up with a pretty good time for a training run. Today I just went out for an hour on my hog of a bike. I have a 5K on Saturday and Sunday so don't know if tomorrow or Thursday will be my LR for the week. This week is a shorter LR so I might do it tomorrow and take the extra rest day before the two runs. I am not sure yet.

Megan...sorry to hear about your grandmother. Hospice is a great service if it's something she needs.

Frank...good luck in your races this weekend!

Megan, sorry to hear about your Grandmother. Sending PD and prayers.

Frank, good job with the work in the heat. It is not my friend.

Megan - PD and prayers for you and your grandmother.

Terri

Megan - Lots of PD coming your way!

Got in 4 miles yesterday for my second back to back (I know it was just 3 and 4 miles LOL), but I'm glad to have it in. Tonight unless it rains I get to mow the yard. Woo Hoo right?

Got in 7 sweaty miles this morning. Today I get to pick up my new Garmin 310 XT :yay: and get my hair cut. Tomorrow I have an easy 3 then a rest day before tackling 16 this weekend.

Thanks everyone! I'm still waiting to hear from my mom about the results of the tests. Since she didn't call me right away I am assuming that either everything is ok (manageable) or that they needed to do more tests again and she didn't have time to call. She was supposed to be driving back to the time share so if everything is okay, then she may be on the road right now.

I'm going to do a 44 minute run tonight R3W1. Back to work!

Greetings Racing Team!

Just sticking my head in here so when I'm wandering about at the Jan WISH meet, people aren't wondering who is that strange woman?? ;) Well, they might anyway, but there ya have it. :lmao:

Training is going well. WISH I could say the same for work. Looks like my days here are numbered. Instead of fretting I will just focus on counting down the days until our BLT stay!

Megan, hoping that no news is good news. Good job getting out there to de-stress.

Kate, I look forward to your Garmin review. Hope to hear you love it.

Judy, good to see ya dropping by here.

I'm planning to get out tonight. It is a lovely day here and should be a great evening to get in some quality steps.
