Trying to make a rather last-minute reservation for a night next week....going to the aquarium, and hoping for a hotel that is within walking distance. Just started looking around trip advisor, but having a hard time telling if they are close. Don't want to pay more than $130-ish a night. Also...the kids would like one with a pool (although its not completely necessary). Thanks for any tips!

Holiday Inn Cannery Row. My family stays there at least once a year.

It's really on Wave Street. Free Parking, Free Breakfast. Sorry no pool. It's too cold most days unless the place has an indoor heated one. Right in your price range. Nice walk to the Aquarium down Cannery Row or on the bike path. Staff is super friendly and nice. Parking is underground. It's also a nice easy walk to the Fisherman's Warf in Monterey. Nice seafood restaurants with a view of the bay.

Enjoy your stay.

Thanks SailorsWife. Holiday Inn looks great. We are in the Sacramento area too! I agree about the pool....we don't really need one. Our health club has an indoor pool the kids can use year-round, but there is something about hotel pools that make my kids so excited.

I hope you get it at that rate, I was trying to book for march and it was 181 a night. I was going to suggest the hotel til you said how much you wanted to pay. It is a great hotel. If it were cheaper I would stay. There is a big barn next door that is an antique store.

A few of us are in Sacramento. I am hoping to head to Monterey this weekend.

Thanks SailorsWife and MaryJo for the hotel suggestions. We ended up getting the Holiday Inn Cannery Row for a better deal ($129), so we stayed there. Free parking, free breakfast, nice clean rooms. Even though checkout was at noon, they let us keep our car in their lot until 5pm when we were done with the aquarium. We had a great time...my son could have spent the entire time in the Mirror Maze. I enjoyed going to the Ghiradelli....yum. Can't wait to enjoy it at DCA!

usnuzuloose...hope you had a nice weekend in Monterey!
