Monsters, Inc., How Ironic

I hope you're right. I'm just thinking they described it as an Avatar "experience". Which doesn't scream "attraction" to me. But maybe they've updated what I heard.
Ah, I just assumed it was the same. Too bad, because that ride was awesome. An "experience" sounds massively less exciting.

They haven't given details except that it will be based on a different movie - possibly the one they are working on now.

Here is the Disney Parks Blog announcement with photos: https://disneyparksblog.com/dlr/avatar-experience-announced-california-adventure/

Aw, thanks. I did miss this.

I'm still skeptical though. The illustrations remind me of Na'vi River Journey just a bit. And I found that one to be really underwhelming.

The assumption is it is a Shanghai PIrates type ride with screens and a track that aids in the storytelling. That Pirates is thought of very highly. I don't think they're doing all that just to have a walk through attraction. It has to be a destination with at least one E-Ticket, a gift shop, and a restaurant.

Glad to hear the Monsters will be there when I visit in April.

I don't think it is on hold as much as it is that other constructions projects are delayed. There is only so much that they can be working on at the same time. There is also only so much Avatar construction they can do before the new parking structure is done or they potentially move the bus pick up & drop off to the other side of the resort in the Simba(?) parking lot that is eventually going to be additional park space as part of Disneyland Forward.

I was at DL last month and between Incredicoaster being down and Guardians apparently going through a partial refurb, definitely felt like there was a strain on everything else. Not the worst thing in the world to keep a nice, reliable (I think?) ride around.

If they are looking at congestion, the esplanade is packed from approx 10:45-11:15 am. There are long lines of people waiting to hop. People who are just arriving, or who have single park tickets, don't realize that they can go to the front. Eliminating the park hopping time restriction (hallelujah) will hopefully eliminate that congestion.

If they closed the backlot and started the demo for Avatar next month, we would have had Portos construction on one side and Avatar construction on the other. That would have been a hot mess. Also, there is this whole transportation piece that is being discussed. Whatever transit is taking over for ART, needs a place to drop off for the parks. They need to get moving on the new transit hub before they can start shutting down the current bus drop off.
