Monsters, Haunted Houses, Scare Zones and more. HHN 30 fun trip.

Saturday, September 18th continued

It was about 9:00 when I got off the water taxi. I took my time walking over to Blue Man Theatre. This is were you meet up with your Guide and tour group for the Unmasking the Horror Tour.

Will stop and talk about the Unmasking the Horror Tour. This is a guided tour of selected Haunted Houses that you can purchase. There was a 3 house tour and a 6 house Tour . When you purchase your selected tour you do not know which houses will be on the tour. At least that has been the case with all the 6 house Tours.

The lights are on during this tour. Your tour guide gives you the backstory to each house. The guide will let you know which rooms in the houses you are allowed to take pictures in. So even though there seems to be a lot of photos of each visited house there are many areas were you are not allowed take photos. That is good as you do not want to spoil the overall affect of a house ahead time for people.

If you like HHN and you have the time you would love this tour.

You see so much more and understand the houses better. You see things that are not possible walking through the houses at night.

I appreciate the artistry that goes into the creation of the houses so I look forward to this tour.

At 9:15 we were welcomed in the room. I sat down at a table and they came around with a menu of items to choose from to purchase for lunch at Monsters Cafe. You filled that out and they collected them.

This was a nice change because in the past they came back to Blue Man Group Theatre gave you a set time to go and get lunch. In 2019 We came back to BMG and purchased a hotdog or pretzel.

So this was a nice touch in choosing lunch at Monsters Cafe.

There was a significant price increase this year in the 6 house Tour. So like the RIP Tours I think Universal should include some snack food items and drinks as part of the Tour.

The house tour line up was on the table.

Nice touch the blood splattered frame.

While we were sitting at our table our tour guide walked up and introduced himself. I looked up and it was David. We had hit the jackpot. He is one of the best Tour guides at Universal.

I have had the pleasure of being on his tours a few times. He has been doing tours at Universal for years and if I remember correctly he has been involved with HHN since it’s first year. He is a treasure trove of knowledge and a very fun and nice guy. This was going to be a good tour for sure.

He passed out our lanyards and gave each one of us a HHN pin.

Then he called our group together and there were 12 of us.

Then we were off to Welcome to Scarey Horror in the Heartland. The park was very busy this morning.

Carey Ohio has played a repeat role in past HHN’s. It is full of unexplained paranormal activity and is full of bloodthirsty creatures and maniacs.

Does anyone remember THE DEPTH OF FEAR HOUSE in 2019. There are a few things from that house.

Loving your TR. I never miss a chance to cool off in the Universal stores. I love those tarot card tees in the Halloween boutique too!

Thank you. Welcome along on my trip report. I did not see those tees anywhere else. They had so many interesting things in the Halloween boutique and it was beautiful.

The posters are about movies in Carey Ohio.

If you enlarge the above poster. You can see in the lower left corner it says SIF SQUAD. The house creators use this abbreviation SIF “Stuff in Face”. Meaning things that hang from the ceiling that you have to walk through in the haunted houses.

Loving your pictures as always.

We`ve never wanted to do the Unmasking the Horror tours before, but my cousin also did it recently as have others many times over the years, they all said we`d enjoy it, so might be something we`ll look at next year.

I think you would enjoy it. It is nice to get additional information on the houses. As well as enjoying all the artistry that goes into creating the houses.

Next we went The Wicked Growth. This was my favorite house. In the dark it is beautiful with all the pumpkins lit up.

When you start out in this house you are outside of the pumpkin witnessing the horror. Then you are inside the pumpkin and you finally meet the Pumpkin Lord.

You may recognize the lady in the pumpkin from HHN 28 (2018) Scare zone “Twisted Tradition”

Whoever came up with the idea of the lady in the pumpkin deserves an award. It is quintessential Halloween. Both beautiful and frightening.

Little one and I both thought Wicked Growth House as one of the best houses. Was actually neat to feel like you were inside the pumpkin.

I’ve done unmasking tours before, but decided not to do it this year.

Great pictures of the houses with the lights on.

Robbie
You really nailed it with the pictures in that house I did the 6 house tour and quite enjoyed this one with the lights on

I thought it was one of the darker houses during the tour
In the lights on tour, tried to memorize how the line inside the house would follow

As I have had time to process all the houses and the artistry and thought that went into creating them Wicked Growth keeps standing tall as one my favorite original houses this year.

Great pictures of the houses with the lights on.

Thank you Lynne.

Some lovely pictures again Robbie, and yes Lady in the Pumpkin is somewhat creepy.

Thank you Carole.

Your right Mac it was one of the darker houses. So many unique things about this house were easily missed.

There were 3 rooms of this house that were beautifully designed. I will share more about these later. We could not take photos in those rooms.

The pumpkin SIF that was hanging from the ceiling did make it feel like you were inside the pumpkin.

A very well done house for sure.

Our next house was Puppet Theatre Captive Audience. The story line behind this house was that a Puppeteer and a Ballet Troupe had been trapped in the theatre after the 1906 earthquake and could not get out. Now after 115 years trapped in a deserted theatre they were ready for a performance of Your Life.

There was an incredible amount of detail to the exterior of the house.

That is frightening!!!!

Nope...I couldn't even do a daytime tour :scared1:

Great pictures though. Way too graphic for me....but then again...as an empath I have a very hard time with scenes like that. Some members of my family...they would LOVE that!!!
