Oh how I love Gideon’s!! I do have a very big sweet tooth and I enjoy baked goods slightly underbaked, which they have mastered that texture. Isn’t that the best: getting so many of their treats to nibble on for days? Such a unique, fun atmosphere in there. We’ve also always had top-notch customer service there! Loving your flowing report.

It is really a cute little shop. Yes, the texture of their cookies is different in a good way. I agree their costumer service inside and out of the shop is awesome.

They have another shop somewhere in Orlando. I’am going try and look that address up sometime and go by there. I had planned on it last year and did not get around to doing it so maybe this year.

Tuesday, September 13th continued


After our visit to Gideon’s we decided to go have a look at the Ganachery. I had heard about this Candy shop online. We sorta of went the long way around…LOL. I didn’t realize that all we had to do was step out of Gideon’s and turn left and we would have been right there.

They had these cute Chocolate ghosts and when you cracked them open there were marshmallows and candy inside.

They also sold beautiful looking chocolates and truffles, but it was to warm out and we were going to be here a bit longer looking around and I did not think the chocolate would survive the heat and the sales person confirmed that so maybe another time.

We decided to try and see if we could get into Chef Art Smith’s Homecomin’ for a late lunch. We did not have a reservation and we only had to wait 20 minutes for a table.

Our waiter was very nice and knowledgeable about the menu. We saw the folks at the table behind us get some kind of drink flight and we asked what it was. It was the ”Moonshine Flight”



These were pretty generously filled glasses and I was curious as to whether the couple that ordered the flight would be able to walk out without stumbling after drinking all those moonshine cocktails……LOL.

We were tempted to order the Flight, but we were planning on walking through more shops and felt that moonshine cocktails would not be a good idea.

I had been to Art Smith’s last year with my older sister and I knew that the portions were very large. When you typically order the Fried Chicken which they are known for you get two big massive breasts which is to much food. They also have an option to get one piece of chicken and 3 sides for so we went with that.

We chose the Mac & Cheese, Collard Greens, and Zucchini Casserole. The sides were served in tiny cast iron skillets. Even these small single portions were nice size.











Everything was delicious.


My sister had heard about the Hummingbird Cake and wanted to try that.



I have tried Hummingbird cake before and found it to be very heavy, but this cake was light and very flavorful. I had a couple bites and was full. I’am glad we tried it, but I would not order it for myself. The couple behind us ordered a piece of Hummingbird cake to go.

The couple that ordered the Moonshine Flight did walk out without stumbling, but you could tell they were not feeling any pain….LOL

Lucky to get into homecoming with no ADR! Nice to see the food was well-received. We took it off our rotation slightly before pandemic began due to a meal with sub-par food quality all the way around. May have to give it another whirl.

I have been lucky I guess on the last two visits to get in without an ADR.

On both visits the food and service were very good with the exception of the rolls served with meal on the first visit.

The rolls that are typically served with the fried chicken meal could have been used for Hockey Pucks….LOL…We did not have to deal with those this time.

It was a wonderful day to spend with my sister at Disney Springs. I cannot believe how big it has gotten over the years. We did not make it to all the shops that are there.

Gideon’s is a cute place.

This was the second time I had been to Homecomin and it was good. I was surprised at how good the Hummingbird cake was.

LOL…thats why we didn’t do the moonshine flight. I was afraid we would both be snockered and not be able to finish looking around and shopping.

Your are very welcome. I’am so glad you are enjoying the report and photos disneyseniors.

HHN is a lot of walking for sure, but if you pace yourself it is very doable. I do love going to HHN. It is so fun looking at all the Houses and Scare Zones. You should give it a try. I think you would like it.

Tuesday, September 13th continued

After we left the confectionary we went to pick up some the Hocus Pocus coffee and Not-so-Scary Pumkin Brew at Joffrey’s Coffee.

Both of these coffee‘s have been delicious if you like different flavored coffee.
I bought a few bags of each to share with family and the feed back on both has been very good.



We then decided to go have look in Goofy’s Candy Co. I bought a peanut Carmel apple to share later. It was nicely packaged to protect the apple and coating.


















It is always fun to have a look around.

Next we went to the Christmas Store. This store has changed a bit in the back of the store.. They sell candles with different scents to choose from. They sell every kind of Disney ornament you can think of in there. Its a nice store to walk around in.




After the Christmas Store we looked in The Art of Disney



If you are a Disney fan there are a lot of nice Disney prints to choose from.

They also had some nice collectable figurines.

My niece is a big “Nightmare before Christmas” fan so these stood out to me. The Jim Shore pieces were nice.










She also likes Maleficent.

After perusing the Art of Disney we sat down for a break. Then after a nice rest and chat we were ready to continue.

Our next store we looked in was Tren-D

I noticed the Haunted Mansion bridal section.










I found my niece a purse and wallet in another area of the store. I bought this for her for Christmas.



I thought this Haunted Mansion Dog bed was cute.



I found this Disney Maleficent ring a few weeks ago and I‘am going to give my niece this for her birthday. It’s Maleficent‘s wings with black diamonds in them.



I always find a few things when on vacation for birthday and Christmas presents. I like finding things I know they will not see ordinarily for purchase at home or online very easily.

Tuesday. September 13th continued


After finishing our purchases at Tren-D we headed over to the big World of Disney Store to have a look around. We were primarily looking at Halloween merchandise, but this store is huge and there is plenty to look at.

I did not see any Hocus Pocus Sanderson Sister merchandise which I found interesting as the new movie was coming out soon. In years past there had been a nice selection of Sanderson Sister Merchandise.



This was reflected on the floor.




My sister bought one of these Mickey Halloween candy buckets for her grandson. It lit up and played music.

The check out lines were long. People were really buying up a lot of things.

After we left The World of Disney my sister told me she had never been to Amorette’s Patisserie.



They have really creative looking desserts there.












This little 50th Celebration Petit cake was interesting.

I did not know that they sold wine and sandwiches in addition to the desserts.







I was tempted to buy one of these mini cakes to try, but we already had the cookies and Carmel apple to sample. The description sounded good.

We were still full from our late lunch, but we needed to try something right. It was my little sisters first trip to Amorette’s and we needed to sample something.

So we tried the Pumpkin Apple Tart keeping the Halloween theme going. It was really good. It took a couple of bites to get to the apple filling, but the flavors worked well together and it was a beautiful dessert. You know the old saying you eat with your eyes first is true. The desserts there are gorgeous.

This is a beautiful shop with very nice employees who are very helpful. It was about 8 pm and there were a few people sitting and enjoying some desserts, but it was not busy.




There was a chocolate base that the dessert was sitting on and it was very nice also.


By the time we had finished at Amorette‘s it was 8:30 pm. I think we had arrived at about 12 or 12:30 to Disney Springs. We really only touched the surface of the shops and places to look at.

We decided to leave and head back to Portofino.

After getting back to our home base Portofino it was time to take turns in the bathroom. After I had finished I put on my comfy pajamas and it was lights out for me.


I’am excited to see what Universal does with Epic Universe as far as new restaurants and shops.
