I really mean last minute trip here!
Friday, December 5-- I am up early reading the boards here and getting more jealous by the minute of the people getting ready to go to WDW.
I tell dh how much I wish we were going this Dec. (but ds and I just went in Sept.) He just kind of rolled his eyes and said something about Christmas was almost here, we didn't budget for a trip, we promised we weren't going to go anywhere on this week of his vacation (his vacation started that afternoon.) Dh left for work and I continued to get ready for my own job. About 10 minutes later ds (4) brings me the phone and tells me it's dh. Dh has changed his tune! He says call WDW and see if we can get a room at a moderate or at DTD--no deluxes, this was not a planned or budgeted trip!
He says we'll leave very early Saturday morning. (it's a 10 hour drive for us) I call and manage to get a room at POR for $133/night. The cm says they are really booked and she can't believe they even have anything available. Of course, I book it and go about ordering our passes and MVMCP tickets for will-call pick up.
I call dh and tell him we're all set. We decide not to tell ds until we are in the car and on our way. I drop ds off and school and go to work. I tell my boss about what dh wants to do--she is so excited that she tell me to finish up a couple of things and take the day to go pack--see you next Monday! I LOVE my job!
Dh calls around lunch, he wants to leave today! We'll just stop on the road for the night. Amazingly I get 3 loads of laundry done and get us packed (and pick up ds at school and drop him off at my grandmothers) to leave by about 5:00. We picked up ds and hit the road.
Ds kept asking where we were going. Dh asked him if he could go anywhere in the world, where would he go. Ds of course answered "Disney World!" He was sooooo excited when we told him that's where we were going.
We drove to Tallahassee and stopped for the night. And, that is the end of Day 1--Day 2 coming soon!
