Monorails, how fun are they

Its a tradition, an icon for us. We started are madness in June of 1977, stayed at the CR and the monorail was the coolest thing there, plus the only way to get from our resort to the TTC, Poly and MK. We've never seen anything like it then or now, we consider this our greeting poiny in the ride in, first to spot the monorail tracks and then to spy a train. whether is day or night, night is especially grand with all the lights from the resorts and MK, and the sound and smell of the cars never leaves you.

We're resort snobs, that said we're usually on the monorail loop of resorts or close enough, WL, to get s boat to CR and board a monorail. Most always take the long ride to EPCOT cause its the best traveling through Disney property and over the freeways. To us a trip would not be complete without riding it as many times as we can, we also enjoy the buses, late at night, few people, super cold inside. Nothing could be finer then to..............

I'll never forget how amazed I was as a 4 year old that the monorail went right through the Contemporary Hotel! I brought my son for his first trip when he was almost 4-he too was amazed by that! Make sure you do the resort loop when you ride.

I also always make sure our first day at EPCOT we arrive by monorail-even if we have to go out of our way to get to TTC to get it-there is just a little more pixie dust factor arriving that way!

I've never asked to sit upfront, but I think I will give it a shot when we go in December this year. :)

My now 11 yr old son has Autism and the monorails are his favorite part of WDW! He knows all 12 colors and his favorite is the Monorail Blue :) He always talks to the attendants- telling them he wants to be a monorail driver - but only wants to drive the Blue monorail on the Resort Line. :rotfl2: On one of our non-park days, DS and I rode the resort monorail to MK took the ferry to TTC, caught the EPCOT monorail( cockpit ride :thumbsup2 ) took it round-trip to TTC and then hopped back on Resort Line to CR. He said it was his "best" day! :cool1:

We always love the monorail. Both boys always loved it and still do now that they're grown. We rode up front from TTC to Epcot last year and it was great!!! If you're looking to ride up front on that long Epcot trip, try it mid-afternoon. Few people are going back and forth and you can usually get right up front or maybe only wait once (although the times are longer waiting for this monorail). Definitely worth it though!!!

The monorail is definately a favorite of mine. For a long time the monorail was the fastest ride at Disneyworld (I got the information from some special where guest would say a ride they thought was the fastest, then the person doing the special would ride and give the real speed). It is a different experience that is very Disney! No seat is a "bad" seat, but I would try to sit in the front too!

Enjoyable? Yes.
Fun? Depends on your perspective.

Its a nice ride, and I enjoy the travel through the Contemporary and the scenes around 7 Seas Lagoon. But the trip from the TTC to Epcot is boring except for the loop around Future World.

I remember how fun the first monorail ride was! I also remember that I got on the one that went to Epcot instead of the Magic Kingdom one. But that was cool, since I got a peek inside Epcot. :)

Even though I've ridden it a million times, I still usually enjoy it the first time or two I ride it each stay. :)
