Hi everybody! Ok this is really going to sound silly but I cant wait to ride the monorails. I have never been to Disney and when I was a kid, I used to want to ride them. Which parks do they go to and where are they located? Any help would mean a lot. Thanks.

Mr. Mike

We love the monorail. I suggest you take the Monorail from the TTC to Epcot, its a nice long ride, and it goes through Future World before stopping. Then I would take it back to the TTC and transfer to the resort monorail line, its another nice long ride and it goes around the lagoon and through the contemporary's concourse. Along both trips there is narration telling you about the resorts :thumbsup2

I love the monorails.... try and sit up front with the driver you can usually get a pretty chatty CM...

If it's your first time riding.

Then wait until the front is availble . Ask the CM at the top of the walkway if you can be the next to ride upfront . You may have to wait a bit but it's worth it.

You also get a little Pilots lic. if you ask and it seats 4 people.

The first (and only time) we've been, my son who was 4 loved the monorails. Everytime one went by he was mesmerized no matter what he was doing. :rotfl:
Have a great trip!

There are actually THREE monorail routes (with multiple trains running on each route).

On each route, the trains will "loop" around and around on their own unique track.

1)"Epcot Monorail" TTC > Epcot > TTC >
2) "MK Express Monorail" TTC > MK > TTC >
3) "Resort Monorail" TTC > Poly > Grand Floridian > MK > Contemp. > TTC >

As you can see, you can transfer from or to any monorail at the TTC (which is also the MK parking lot).

You may ride any and all of these, if you like.
But, I would just steer clear of them at or near opening or closing time of MK or Epcot.

I love the monorails (and now my kids do too!).

Here are some pictures:

The first 3 were from 2002. We were up front on our last night on the way to Epcot. Lovely storm we were having that night. Not fun in Epcot!

The 4th picture was from last summer & we were in the CR waiting to go back to the Poly.

Monorail is fun and if you have kids, let them sit in front for a Pilots license.

Have a great trip!!

We love riding around the resort circuit on the monorail to visit the gift shops as well as use for transport to the parks. You'll really enjoy them.

Someone said "ask to sit upfront" .. they won't look at you crazy will they, or is this common and theres like a line for it? How many "fit" upfront?

Its fun. By all means ask to sit up front. As mentioned before, you may have to wait for a while but its worth it. Do it from TTC to EPCOT as it is a longer ride.

They allow up to 4 in the front. If you have a big stroller, someone will need to ride with it in the first car behind the front. You will probably only get to ride to the next station in the front, unless no one is waiting; then you can move back to the first car and meet up with anyone who didn't "fit" in the front with you. They don't always automatically give you the little business card size license -- but you could ask for one. They're not really speedy or anything, but still fun to ride. We've ridden up front with 3 people and a folded-up umbrella stroller. Don't forget to take some pictures -- you can even take a picture of the control panel. It's fun during the day and at night.

Asking to sit up front with the driver is very common, but since there is only room for 4 people up there it's not always available. You might have to ask on several different occasions before you actually get in there.

Good fun. When Disneyland was built the monorail was an actual attraction.:earsboy:

I had forgotten about that! Am I remembering right that even in the early 70's you had to have an "A" ticket to ride it? (Remember those coupon books and you would run out of "E" tickets for the good rides?)

I feel old now :sad2: I'm going to take my Geritol and Metamucil now...

We still love the monorail.

We asked to ride up front 2 times this past trip (9/16 to 9/23) and both times were honored.

It was a blast.

Maybe not as fun as ToT, but riding the monorail was a fun experience. I suggested to my friend she ask to ride up front (for her 5 year old TRAIN lover). I hope he gets to do that when they go to WDW in Jan 2007!

Since the MONORAIL was my first ride at WDW :teeth: I'll always think of it with great joy. :thumbsup2
