About to embark on our first Disney Trip! yay!

We are staying offsite at Holiday Inn Sunspree and we have rented a car for some "non Disney" stuff.
My question is, once we are in the park, can we use the monorails to move around? I thought someone told me that unless you have a pass from staying at a Disney Resort, that the monorail was not for use.
Our thought was when we are doing Disney stuff, to leave the car at the hotel and use the free shuttle that Sunspree offers. But once we are in the park, I'm wondering if the monorail is an option....
TIA!

Help!

Monorails are available to all WDW guests since riding them or the ferry boats are necissary to get to the Magic Kingdom from the park's parking lot. You can take the monorail from the MK parking lot/ Transportation and Ticket Center to either Magic Kingdom or EPCOT as well as the three monorail resorts, Contemporary, GF, and Poly.

Everyone with a valid WDW theme park ticket is entitled to use any of the WDW transportation. This includes the monorail, boats, and buses.

Yes you can use the monorail. :)
