Monorail

Anyone know when, if, the monorail will begin running again?

Is it down due to staffing? Maintenance?

I don't think there's been any official reason given why it isn't operating yet. There hasn't been any announcements from Disney or speculative opening dates from any of the major Disney blog sites. If I had to hazard a guess myself, it's a combination of staffing, maintenance, and a hefty dose of needing to enforce mask wearing while riding since it may be considered "transportation."

I thought that it might be “transportation” too but the railroad is operating without masks, I believe. Maybe the monorail is treated as a different mode since it leaves the park.

At any rate, my kids will be bummed if it remains down. They love riding it.

I love riding it, too! Maybe even more than my teenage kids, lol. That's why I've been watching for any word of it's return. I think you're right that it is likely considered transportation since it leaves the park. I know at WDW it is definitely considered transportation whereas at DLR it's considered more of an attraction since you need to have a park ticket to ride. I wonder if it might also have to do with the monorail being enclosed whereas the train is open air.

Also remember that the monorail doesn't operate once the temperature reaches a certain level each day (no A/C). So it may be that they are focused on rides that will be able to operate all the time as they ramp up staffing.
