Monorail Question...

Okay...so I was thinking of taking my guests on a monorail ride to kill some time between our ceremony and dinner (If we decide to skip the tea). Does anyone know approx how long it takes to make a complete round trip from GF? TIA!!

What time of day will it be? That can make a big difference. I've been held up on the monorail for over an hour during high traffic times.

Ahh yes, I suppose that would make a difference. It would be around 2pm on a Monday. I've only ridden the monorail a few times and never just for 'fun'. Do you think my guests would even enjoy it? You know...just to see the sights?

Most likely that time of day won't be too backed up. It could be a busy week though since you are right before Christmas.
Whether your guests will like it or not would be hard to say. I thought it was the best ride at Disney when I was a kid!!! If you get to ride in the front that's even better but it only seats 4 people. I think it would be cool to ride it in your dress! I rode the boat between the Boardwalk & Epcot in my dress and thought that was pretty cool!
We are at Disney quite a bit and we have started avoiding the monorail and using the boats instead because they are quicker most days. DH was stuck on the monorail for over an hour just sitting one day because the one in front of it broke down so he's not a fan!

This is comming from someone who had their first trip just this last December/January and I loved the monorail. I thought it was really cool to be able to see everything like that, so IMO I thought it was really nice and enjoyable.

Aww...your poor DH...that would really stink to get stuck like that. I guess we could just play it by ear that day. I'm just not sure how much time it would actually take up to ride all the way around. Another alternative, I suppose, would be to take the Ferry over to the Poly and snap some great pics before we head back to GF for dinner. I'm just such a worry wart...I really want my guests to enjoy themselves...bottom line.

If it is not busy and all the trains are running on queue, it takes about 7 minutes round trip.

Another option to consider is renting a pontoon boat @ the 7 seas lagoon. You can drive it all the way over to Bay Lake too! (where Wilderness Lodge is)

We looked into this just for fun on our last trip and it's not expensive - only like $35 for the 1/2 hour. I'm not sure how many people one of these holds, but the one we saw going around had 2 families on it (we ended up doing Mouse Boats).

Take your time and get lots of pictures!!! That's my only regret that we rushed and I really wanted more pictures! I think going over to the Poly is a great idea. Many of my guests hadn't been to Disney in years and they were just having fun every where we went!

You could always stop at each of the stations for photos! And, depending how much time you have, you could always take it from the MK to Epcot for photos outside the park there as well.

Of course, the challenge will be keeping the whole group together for each stop, but you can always instruct everyone that you are to meet back at the GF monorail exit at such and such a time to re-group and head to the reception.

Uh oh! I am worried! We are using the monorail to get from the GF to the Contemporary to catch our Wishes cruises (had to use the dock at the CR because the one at GF is not wheelchair accessible). We have to go straight from dinner at Narcoossee's...I hope nothing like that happens! There are 16 of us and that would not be fun.
