Monorail/Epcot/Train playsets??

Does anyone have any of these playsets. Now that I can buy them on the disneystore website(not just in parks), I have been given more time to consider buying them. It seems that the CR is now sold out, so I guessed I missed out on that one!

I am looking mainly for my ds (so probably not interested in the castle..although I am!). Can anyone tell me how they like any of the above mentioned sets? Thanks!

We bought the monorail set at the parks when we were there. VERY poorly made. Our is sitting in a pile in the basement. The monorail car doors come off all the time, the track doesn't stay together very well. My son LOVED trains and he wasn't into it once he got it because 1. he was frustrated with it falling apart. 2. It is kind of boring, it just goes in a circle. Hope this helped! If I remember correctly it wasn't the cheapest thing in the store, I would save your money.

We actually have all the monorails to date! I have to agree with the PP when they said...

The monorail car doors come off all the time.

They started making those moveable doors with the Blue monorail I believe...and I wish they hadn't. I find myself fixing them all the time! Even the tiny characters could be hazardous to small children!

That being said....WE LOVE OUR MONORAIL SETS!! We also have the Contemporary, Epcot, and the Castle. As a matter of fact we were able to purchase a "hard to find green" monorail from someone on this very website (thanks again Sea-Donkey in case you're reading this)!

We have a track set up in our DS's bedroom all the time. During Christmas we take extra tracks and set up a circle around our Tree! In years past when Santa was bringing another monorail to our DS it was a wonderful surprise to see it on the track Christmas morning!!

They are a bit expensive, and sometimes hard to find if you're looking for a particular color. Good luck with whatever decision you make. PS: bhoffman, you might be able to get some cash for that monorail that's "just sitting in a pile" on Ebay! Best Wishes!

I saw someones set up (here on the dis) and showed DS3...BIG mistake, hes in love and wants it all. I've been watching ebay and was bidding on some of the rides....Astro Orbitor went for something cazy like $80 plus another $20 for shipping, Space Mtn goes for over $100 and Tea cups and Dumbo are crazy as well.

What I dont get it clearly there is a market for these toys...why would they stop selling them! Especially now that you can get park merchandise online! I can see if it were just available in the park you would reach as many people but why stop selling when you have park merch online.

I wish Disney would sell them again so we could get them (because I'm not paying $80+!)

you can't use the 20% off with disney parks items which the monorail is. I was going to buy it and couldn't get the discount.

I just may do that! I'm glad our experience isn't typical it seems! It is adorable in concept, couldn't believe he didn't use it!

we've got:
the haunted mansion
the castle
epcot
animal kingdom
the contemporary
plus a monorail and a bunch of extra track and one set of additional people

The monorail track seems sturdy enough whenever I set it up but the monorail itself is not really kid friendly since you can knock it off the track easily and take it apart and the characters are tiny.

Anyway, if you've got someplace to display it then yeah, some of the pieces would be worth getting.

We have two monorail sets and extra track, the Haunted Mansion, the Contemporary, Polynesian, and GF plus Dumbo and Astro Orbitor. Never got the castle. We love the sets, esp. having the monorail drive through the Contemporary and "stop" at the other two resorts. We got the signage and I wish I'd gotten the rest of the sets when they were available. Main problem is they take up so much space so we only set them up for Christmas.---Kathy
