Monorail and copilots license

I've heard that if you ride in the front car of the monorail, your kids can obtain a pilots license. How do you go about doing this, and is there usually a long wait to do so?

We've been able to ride up front several times with our 3 yr old DD. Timing is everything, head towards the front of the monorail and simply ask if you would be allowed to ride up front. If I'm not mistaken, you are limited to 4 people. They keep a small stack of co-pilots licenses in the front. If you're able, try to ride up front from the TTC to Epcot, it's a nice looonnnggg ride.

We got there early, asked the guy in charge if we could sit up front. Someone else had asked earlier, he said we could sit up front in the next monorail. Our driver was terrible, he did not give the boys a co-pilots license. He was rather rude.
No, we did not ask anyone else for the license, just enjoyed the ride up front and moved on.

We have riden several time up front and the kids did not always ge co-pilots licenses. If I recall correctly, the licenses are kept in a small steel box on the wall behind the driver. Several times the box was empty and I assumed the driver had just run out.

Unless we are in a rush, we will ask to ride up front and will wait our turn if someone else has already asked. Although the novelty has worn off, the view from the cab is still fantastic!

Is this new. Since 9/11 they haven't allowed riding up front @DL.

Not new...we went Dec 2002 and got to ride up front.

We rode in the front car in both 8/02 and 8/03. In 8/02 we asked for a co-pilots license, but they were out. The driver said they had been out for a long time. In 8/03 we asked and my niece was given her "license" (its about the size of a business card and has the preprinted signature of Mickey Mouse.....nice little souvenior for her scrapbook).

We rode up front in Jan 2004 from TTC to the Magic Kingdom.

We weren't given, and didnt ask for a license, but we got some great photos.

WE just rode up front last week from MK to the TTC. WE asked during an "off" time...mid day...when we went back to the poly for a rest.

I've never done it before, we have 6 kids & splitting them up I always went with the younger ones, but my 13 yo DS said I had to do it this time.

It was a great view! My 3 younger kids did get a co-piolots liscense...we didn't ask.

You'll have better luck during an off time when it isn't too crowded!

We have ridden up front several times and Dec. 04 there were 5 of us and I wanted my Mom to have a chance to experience it with the kids, so I sat in the regular seats and the rest of the family got to ride up front. Most of the time the kids have gotten the little card. We have had great drivers each time as DH is always one to strike up a conversation with anyone.

We did this for the first time in Jan '04. I think I was more excited than my kids (2 & 7). I took a video of the whole thing. We did the entire resort loop and then went back to GF. I pull out that DVD of that ride all the time and watch it. It is so neat to watch as you enter and leave the CR . I am so glad that we finally go to do this.

I think the copilot's licenses are pretty random. In about three front of the monorail rides over our Christmas trip, we were offered licenses once--of course when my two nephews weren't along for the ride. We were lucky though in that Ben and Clark got to sit in the front from MK to Epcot on NYE--what a crazy crowd in Epcot that night. (we were passing through on our way to MGM--just had to see Sorcery in the Sky).

We were asked if 4 people from our party wanted to ride up front just this past April. (There are 5 of us so I bowed out and sat in the regular seats. thought it would be cool for dh) My dh said it was really cool and they gave the kids copilots licenses. (we didn't have to ask, we didn't know about it)

My DBF and I rode up front several times but we were never offered the co-pilot licenses. I assumed it was because we weren't kids ... then we sat up front with kids and the driver never offered the licenses to them either. I figured it was because they were out.

We've ridden in the front on many occasions and my kids have never been offered a copilots license. I have never even heard of them until now. We will have to ask next trip.
