My take on the Martha Stewart monkey...

no problem!

I used 1 9x13 pan and the wilton 3D sports ball pan. Carved the head out of the 9x13 and used the scraps for the ears. Nose/mouth area is one of the ball halves. I used part of the other ball underneath the mouth, but it wasn't supported very well. I would recommend baking just one half of the sports ball, and 1 6" round to go underneath.

After I had carved the head and ears, I leveled and torted with my new wilton large cake leveler. Made a dam with chocolate buttercream and filled with banana cream filling. Put the top layer on, crumb coated, then frosted. Then I put on the chocolate fondant. I frosted the half ball then put the yellow fondant on top, then trimmed around 1/2 the ball. Put that on the cake, smoothed the rest of the yellow fondant down the side of the cake, trimmed.

Made yellow royal icing and piped the ears, and a border around the nose. Eyes are chocolate fondant painted black, mouth is chocolate fondant adhered with water.

That's it! Please let me know if you have any questions...
