My DH is telling me I am bringing too much--

everything is paid for- this is just for spending on food- and whatever else.
I am planning on 900-1,000 for 9 days-
the girls have their own money saved for their things- they each have 70-

am I bringing too much? personally I think I don't have enough LOL
what do you all bring?

I feel the same way! The last thing I want to have to do is count pennies at WDW. My money goal is to have about $200 to $250 per day.

This is my first time visiting the World, so the "not knowing" is what worries me - when it comes to costs and such.

I think it is better to have too much!

We are a family of 4 and our meals are usually already paid for-I bring $200 / day and I figure I can always use my charge cards if I run out.
(I usually end up bringing 1/2 of it back home)

When we go to WDW we usually plan on spending about $100.00 to $150.00 per day for food and anything else. I believe that sounds about right.

Have a wonderful trip!!:Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce:

$200 a day sounds right. I find it easier to bring a minimal amount of cash and either pre-pay a credit card or use a debit card.

If I recall correctly, fast food for a family of three is roughly $20. Restaurants a min. of $40--character breakfasts slightly more--I think that's like $45 or $60.

And it depends on where you want to eat--Epcot has the nicest restaurants, but they're also among the most expensive.

Souvineers are tricky. Make a wishlist for each person, and budget from there. Budget extra if you're going to the marketplace. Very easy to spend $$$$$ there.

Good luck!

3 days til we meet the Mouse (again).

We are a familly of 5 adults ages 50,49.22,21, and 20. We plan on spending around $40 per person, $200. per day. No fancy restaurants for us. We would rather ride the rides and see the shows then spend a couple of hours in an overpriced restaurant. :thewave:

I wouldn't worry about bringing too much. What you don't spend you can take back home with you!

It's just me and one other adult. We plan on spending about 100/day. (Except for our one fancy dinner night). The 100 dollars would go towards food and maybe some small things but no big souvineers. (sp?).

When my bf and I went to WDW this past May, we took $50/day for for 10 days for food ($500) not including the 3 or 4 PS's we had ($150). We ended up with $20 leftover at the end of the trip. Then we took $500 total for the both of us for souvineer $$. I tend to overbudget a little bit b/c I like to eat whatever snacks I want and buy the souvineers I want and not worry about it.

I think a 1,000 is enough for 9 days at WDW.

I planning on taking 800.00 dollars food and T-shirts that I want to buy for a 7 day trip. For our trip in June 2005.

Our 7 night trip coming up:

I allot $100.00 for first day and last day. $175.00 for every other day = $1,250.00. We are a family of four, mom, dad, 8 and 11 yr. old girls - they have their own money (figured in) and they do manage to spend it all!!

I never come home with money left over:rolleyes:

I see everyone posting how much money they bring--do you bring all cash or traveler's checks. In the event of loss or theft, you can get your $$$ back, but with cash once it disappears, it is gone.

$1000 is roughly a little over $100 for each day.

Breakfasts are $5 to $10 (depending on the simple meal of bagel to the extravagent platters)

Luches can be done for $10-$12

Dinners can be done for $10-$12 for fast food or about $15-$20 for sit down (if you order meal and drink).

Character meals for adults are about $17 for breakfast, $22 for lunch, $28 dollars for dinner including tax and gratuity. Childrens meal prices are in the area (I don't really know) of $9.99, maybe a little more.

All prices are per person--the more food you can share (some meal deals are HUGE), the less soda you drink, the less bottled water you purchase--can make or break your budget. I like to eat like a bird for breakfast, eat a bigger lunch and a lighter dinner. Your family can totally eat on your budget---but watch out for the popcorn, almonds, and dole whips--you can really get carried away with those!

Our room and park passes were paid before we arrived at WDW. We (family of 3) took $1000 additional to cover food, souvenirs, gas & extras - which included a day at Daytona USA and Kennedy Space Center - for 7 nights/8 days. I budgeted $100/day, which worked very well. I came home with about $150 that I used to process my film at the one-hour photo.

We take 1k for a 7 night stay in Orlando so it's about right. Just because you have it doesn't mean you should spend it all, but better safe to bring it all than to be sorry! :)

iNTeNSeBLue98-a question for you. We were planning a side-trip to Daytona in a couple of weeks. Is it worth seeing? How long is the drive from WDW to Daytona.

we are a family of 4, DH, Me, and DD's 13 and 5.
i am HOPING to bring $1500 in cash and debit cards for food and spending....we are in wdw/orlando area for 6 days.
we have pretty much all character meals for park days and non- park days we will eat at mediocure(sp??) places ....
i am basing that off what we spend when go to other outings, like fairs - themeparks etc.
last year we went to ft lauderdale and orlando combine for 10 days...we brought 3k along, came home with half of it yet. this year we are going to have a ball( i hope) and any family member can buy whatever they like ( within reason :hyper: )

Last year, we brought $1200 for our 9 nite/10 day trip (including travel days). We only had $300 in cash, with the rest on our Visa/check cards. My DH and I made sure only one of us had the card with us and the other was in the room safe, just in case anything was lost. We ate breakfast in our rooms nearly every morning, had 5 sit-down meals (1 breakfast, 2 lunch and 2 dinner), and the rest was counter service. We spent about $700 on dining out (altogether) and $250 on souvineers for us, the kids and the "thank-you" souvineers for the people watching our house and pets while we were gone. (BTW- there were 4 of us...2 adults, 1-9 y.o. who eats as much as if not more than the adults, :earseek: and 1-3 y.o. who is a picky eater. princess: ) Needless to say, we came home with $, which is always better than not being prepared enough.

One thing we found really helpful in the kiddos not having the "I wants" was to buy a few items at the Disney store or on-line before we left (of course they had no idea about it) and give them to them on the trip. I had a LITTLE something for them for most of the days, which usually had something to do with whatever park we were headed to that day. That really helped. I found that the CM's at the Disney Store near my home were very helpful in steering us to what was available in their store as well as at WDW, which I think also helped to curb the "I wants".

I think you've budgeted well. Have fun and enjoy!:sunny:

DH and I just returned, and we spent around $100/day for just the two of us -- we ate breakfast in-room, had counter service at the park, and then a moderately priced dinner. *AND* we bought very few souvenirs.
