money issue with reservation

Okay, a few months ago I made my initial reservation with the 7 for 5 deal. At the time I put the deposit for my 2 rroms on my debit card which was $400. Well I have yet to see it come out my account which is linked to my checking account. I called the bank and they say that they have no amount like that from disney or name like that for that amount. I called disney and they said they got their money. The issue is now that I changed my reservation to "room only" they have to refund me that money and I have to put another deposit. I'm afraid now that they will come after me for that money at a later date. I called disney on 2 occasions about it they said they got the money. What can I do to protect myself? I'm not trying to get them for any money I just don't want them coming back when I'm not expecting it and don't have the money. What should I do?

I'm sorry that I cannot offer much help on this situation. All I can tell you is that I have read many posts recently about people having trouble using their debit cards. For whatever reason the debit card route is causing a lot of problems. It's probably safer to use a credit card for future transactions and just pay the bill off when you get it.

It sounds like the bank may have debited someone else's account either by their own mistake or because of the information given to them by Disney. It's amazing the number of people who don't double check their statements or notice errors in their accounts.

Either way, my bet is that when they go to credit your account with the refund they'll either discover the mistake or the credit won't show up just as the debit didn't. I would insist that they figure out what went wrong. If they can make a mistake like this in your favor, they can make it going the other way as well.

At any rate, I'd keep the money in the account until it's corrected. It's very rare that these mistakes are never found and when it is, they'll debit your account.
