Money is a pain in the bum! (a bit long)

As some of you know DH and I run our own shop and we have been going for about 3 and a half years now, it's all going really well but we don't live by our shop so it's become a bit of a bind driving too and from work - even though it's only half an hour on the motorway.

So we have been looking into moving house, we found a nice place that we liked but it is in need of a lot of refurbishment. Anyway I asked DH today if we should book a viewing and he said that the bank will not let us remortgage until we have got 4 years of trading accounts. We are about 30k short of what we would need taking into account of fees etc. Our plan is to keep our current house and rent it out, ultimatley buying two properties one for DD and one for DS as we feel there will be no chance of them affording a leg on the property ladder. We also bought the shop next door but one to where our shop is last March, so it's all very complicated to say the least!

So looks like we are stuck where we are until we can get the mortgage, I am mostly upset about the fact that both DD and DS will be fully established in their school now when it comes to us moving - and I really don't want to move them with this in mind, I have no worries about the quality of the schools by the shop as it has just been awarded Outstanding from Ofsted (as is the school that they are currently in my home) it's more the emotional aspect of them being taken away from their friends. I can see us stopping where we are until they move to seniors.

So I said to DH that I am in depress mode so lets book a holiday to Florida to cheer me up!

Not much advice really, but I can completely sympathise with you. We have our own shop as well (though I don't have any part in it) but know what you mean, it is about 35 mins away with NO traffic and they are just such hard work. especailly phone calls in the middle of the night when an alarm is going off

might be a daft question but can't you see if you can got a new mortgage elsewhere..or do you have a long tie in period? Might be worth speaking to an independant financial advisor.
otherwise get the brochures out
