Mom's retirement party

There are 3 women who work in my Mom's office with her (my Mother is the boss)- - Mom is retiring next month and they called me because they are having a "surprise party" for her... inviting all the different department heads etc. Now, I don't think there is anyone on Earth who would enjoy a Surprise party LESS than my Mother... the woman likes to be in control at all times.

What would you do in my situation? I am inclined to wait until the week before and if she hasn't figured it out by then I will tell her it isn't just dinner at her coworkers... it's a big party for her. If I don't tell her, I think she will really be upset with me. And no, I didn't tell them how much she will hate it- I can't believe they don't know that already

This is a good example of doomed if you do and doomed if you don't.

I really don't know what to tell you. If it was me I would tell her. Its more likely that you will see your Mom more than her coworkers. Than again if you were looking to get her out of yor life this might work.
