Mommy, I want to see Carsland! Tycen's MAW pretrip report

It has been really quiet here about the MAW trip. I emailed our chapter just to see if there was any news on our trip. She said that there wasn't anything new because the chapter in CA is trying to get through all of the WISH families going to Disneyland for spring break. That does make sense but I am ready for something, anything!!

We leave on Tuesday for our clinical trial/regular visit to our MDA clinic. It is about 3 days and filled with appointments. He even has a sleep study one night just to get a base line. It seems we do a lot of things to get a base line lately.

We are planning a trip to DC in just a few weeks. Every time he hears us talking about that trip he asks about Carsland. It is hard to explain to him that Carsland is still a little way away! I did make our countdown calendar that we will start once we get back from Cincinnati so that should help just a little bit!

We are back from the hospital visits. The two days were very long and tiring but they turned out okay. There are a few tweeks that we need to make for him but for the most part the drs were pleased with his progress. That is always good news. For just two days he had over 8 appointments and a sleep study. He is a trooper though and did pretty well. His sister did well too.

I also am a mom of special needs kiddos. We had 3 biological sons and when my "baby" was 12, we started doing foster care and ended up adopting 4 kids we had in our homes as babies. Our youngest is a set of twins that will be 6 this May. We checked them out of the NICU as newborns. The girls are mentally delayed and autistic. One of the girls also has Pierre Robin Sequence. (a snowball effect that happens in the womb).....it causes a cleft palate, small jaw, heart defects, etc. She is 100% g-tube fed and non-vocal.

I feel we were chosen to care for these special kiddos. I will keep your son in my prayers and hope your trip is extra *+*+*Magical*+*+*!!

CarsLand is AMAZING!!! It's like stepping right into Radiator Springs in the movie. I just got back from there on Monday!!

Have you been to Disneyland before?? I'm available if you have any questions. We took the twins (and the rest of the family in December) and would love to share any help on traveling with special needs kids there if you need it!!

Can't wait to read more about your upcoming trip! My grandson also has Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. He is a Cars fanatic! I'm hoping we can take him to see Cars Land soon. Good luck with the planning of the trip, I hope you get some news soon

We are now under the 30 day mark. We have our flights and our rental car. I have talked to our agency and we will have to wait until after June 27 (we leave July 5) to find out where that we are staying.

We are planning for our extra three days that I think we are going to do in San Diego. So at least I can get some planning in!

Tycen is getting started back in the clinical trial and we are excited for that as the new medicine is looking promising. It is definitely better than nothing!!

We are looking forward to our trip and Tycen asks almost daily if we are headed to Cars Land.
