I just booked a long weekend for my daughter and I for next March at Pop. I'm so excited about our 'mommy and daughter' trip.

I'm just wondering if anyone here has done this?

How was it? What was your experience like?

We do it every year!!! I have 2 DD's. We have been doing this every year
since youngest was 3 and oldest was 8, they are now 8 and 13. We have wonderful memories.
How old is your daughter?
Every year it's a different adventure.
You will have a great time!!!!

Ooh Id love to do that with dd! How old is your dd? You two can do BBB togethern then dine with princesses. How fun!

My dd and I took a mommy/daughter trip in May 2006. My dd was just shy of her 4th B-day. She was really into the princesses so we of course made sure to meet them all! We also did BBB and we ate at Cindy's Gala Feast at the GF and princess lunch at Norway. We only had 2 months to plan so it was too late to get into the castle to eat. The Flower & Garden fest was going on at Epcot and we enjoyed looking at all the flowers and bushes. It really was a magical trip and I will cherish the memories always! My dd is now almost 6 and she still talks about our special trip.

I'm surprising my DD with a trip in 2 weeks! :cool1:
We always take a mother-daughter trip right after school is out, but we usually just go somewhere local for a few days. This year I had some money saved up and decided I'd surprise her with a Disney trip. We go as a family every January but this is our first mother-daughter only trip. She has no idea and I'm so excited!
We just did BBB and the Norway breakfast in January, and I didn't want to plan too much this trip, so we are doing dinner at Crystal Palace and P&PP on the 4th, and she is doing the Wonderland Tea Party the day we leave. I am also taking her to the Mousekeeter's club for a few hours mid-trip just so I can have some down time. I'll drop her off and then go to the MK to ride some of the rides she won't/can't ride.
Have a great time!

We are doing a mother (53), daughter (31), grand-daughter (18 months) trip in Sept (first trip for the baby, 2nd for mom, 3rd for me). My mom is SOOO excited about having free dining. We are eating a character meal every day. :cool1: We are planning to have great fun!

I have a little KOTS going on for this trip. My dad is a truck driver who has said when he willingly goes to Mouseland (WDW) we should have him committed because we'll know he's officially lost his mind.... What my mom doesn't know is he is planning to try to get a load to Florida while we are there so he can come to Disney with us for a day or two. She'll be SHOCKED if we can pull it off... It's amazing how quickly things change when there is a grand-daughter to be spoiled....

You'll love it, my daughter calls it a girl's night out, girl's only allowed. It really gives you a time to talk and connect. We do fun things like eat snacks in bed, shop around for little souveniers for the family. It really is an awesome time to get to know your DD better. My little one is only 4 and hope to make it a tradition for many years to come.

I have a DD, 10 & DS, 9. Because of my Dh's work schedule, I've gone solo alot with my kids for vacations. DH usually joins us for 2 a year, but I'm able to get more time off than him.

It is truly a great experience to connect with the kids. In fact, we're leaving 6/16 to "connect" some more in the Bahamas. We can't wait!!

I'd love to do a girls' only trip! Even if it's not Disney

My daughters are 10 and almost 16. We've got a family trip (with my parents, sis, BIL & her sons) planned in late August, but there is a possibility that DD16 will not be able to go because of school. She went on a Disney trip with her bio-dad/ my ex in April - she won't be upset about not going to Disney. She'd be a bit disappointed about not travelling with the family though.

If she can't go on the August trip, I'm thinking of taking a trip with her in early December - destination as yet unknown.

I'd love to do a multi-generational girls' trip - my mom, my sis (no daughters), me and my two girls! My mother is NOT a huge Disney fan, but will endure it for the grandchildren. An extended family girls' trip will probably not include The Mouse!

I think my girls would love the idea - they're very close to their grandmother and aunt. I suspect a girls-only trip of this nature will involve a lot of "retail therapy" so I'd have to save a small fortune. Heck, it might be cheaper for us to go to Disney!!!

Have fun on your trip!

Sounds like my dad! My dad is actually planning to join us on our trip in August - when he made this announcement, I was planned to take him for a psych evaluation. My dad doing Disney??? Wow! The mere fact that my dad is even contemplating a Disney trip is a miracle in itself! Of course, getting him on a thrill ride will be another miracle, but I am pretty sure the grandkids will talk him into it!

:goodvibes I am going on a mom and daughter trip with my daughter(5) in June, we are staying at AKL. I think she will think that is so COOL. This trip will be a Seaworld/ Aquatica trip. Since it is budget and she has not been to either. We are both excited about it. We will be eating one night at Rainforest Cafe because she love it there.:goodvibes

I'm surprising my 8 year old DD. I booked the bounce back last September. This is our first mommy/daughter trip. It has been so hard not to tell her. I plan on picking her up early from school. I'm going to let her figure it out at the airport. Were going this summer for 2 weeks--staying offsite in a villa. There's no way I can get my husband to go to Disney more than 1 a year.

I would love to do this with DD8 but my DH works 2 jobs, so no one to watch DS. But we do movie nights by ourself. Our next movie is going to be Narnia.
Have fun on your trip.:goodvibes

I did a mother-son trip just before DS went to Kindergarten(got back about 15 days before 9/11,too:sad1: ) and had a blast. We had not other kids at the time, so DH got to stay home and work!! We had a great time, good memories- wish I could go with second DS, who starts kindergarten in this fall, but we are going for 10 days in August, as a family- I'll do something a little less extravagent with DS#2. We stayed at ASSports and stayed for 4 days...

We took a family trip in December ...the first in a long time with me, dh, dd-6yo and ds-2yo. Ds' birthday was during the trip and I realized all the magic that goes on around a birthday trip.

Dd's birthday is in July and we decided long ago that we won't travel during the summer due to the heat and crowds. We love early December or the fall so a family trip during dd's birthday just isn't going to happen.

Before we even left for our family trip dh and I talked about me taking dd ... just the two of us.. for a long birthday weekend this summer when she turns 7yo.

Since we just visited our "must do" list isn't as long and without her younger brother with us we can just hit what we want and relax.

We originally planned on staying at Pop but I got a pin code a few weeks ago and upgraded to the Wilderness Lodge. We are spending 3 out of 5 days at the Magic Kingdom so it just makes sense! ;)

Dh and I have come up with a plan that each kid will go on a solo trip to WDW with a parent (probably me since I'm the WDW freak although dh may or may not want to instead) every 7 years for the birthday. I figure 7, 14 and 21 are great ages/stages to enjoy WDW...and then by the time they are 28 they can take ME!

We told dd about her trip the second day of our December trip. I wanted the trip all about her and wanted her input as to where to stay, what to do and how to spend our time. I briefly thought about surprising her but I like planning too much and she enjoyed helping w/ our family trip and wanted her to have the anticipation of this trip too!

Our plans are all set for July and it really is a dream trip for a 7yo girl... we are dining at every princess meal (including CRT the morning of her birthday), plus dinner at Chef Mickey's and breakfast at Tusker House. She's doing a pirate cruise one morning and we will be close enough to everything to hop back to WL to swim and relax whenever we want.

Dh is excited about spending some time one on one w/ ds and they are going to have a great time when we are gone. Ds goes to daycare so all dh has to do it adjust his hours to make sure he can drop off and pick up (he usually only drops off) for the few days we are away.

I am all over taking a mom and daughter trip right now and think it will be a great way for dd and I to reconnect and spend some great quality time away from the demands of her little brother (whom she adores!).

Go for it!

I love it. DD and I have done it 2 times, once in December to see the Christmas lights and attend the Christmas party and then in October to attend the Halloween party. She was 7 and 8 @ the time. We had a blast. She and I did everything we wanted to do without having to deal with my DH who is a party pooper.

I took my DS 15 when he was 8 and it was hands down the best time we have ever had together. He even learned to swim at Blizzard Beach during that trip!

This August I am taking just my DS 12 for a mom-n-me trip. He picked out the resort and our ADR's.

It makes me tear up just thinking about how special this trip will be...my babies are not babies anymore :sad1: .

I suprised DD when she was 6 with a trip down in December to go to MVMCP and we had a complete blast!! It was truley one of the most special trips that we have had and she talks about it all the time. She is almost 8 now and I would love to suprise her again sometime over the next couple of years.

My mom and sister are driving down in August for free dining with my niece and her best friend. I would love to take her then but it is not going to work out right now as we are going to move into our new house at the end of June. Soon, though......Soon.

Trish
