Mommy and Me Safari - A Magical Trip for Two -*Update 03/13 - Dreams and Celebrations

As you can insinuate from my lack of updated I have entered a Disney Funk!

Aww - Disney Funks are no fun!

I think you're getting a different show than us - we get Disney Princesses on Ice. Which of course is not interesting my 9yo DB at all!!

Awww don't feel so bad. I'm in a major funk knowing we're not going back for at least two years. I'm forcing myself to keep up with my TR but have been doing lots of lurking. You're not alone!

Last I left you we were on Main Street and ran into the Balloon Guy and Gal! I always love seeing this huge bouquets of balloons blowing down Main Street.

We quickly hurried up Main Street as we could hear the music – Dream Along With Mickey had started at the Castle Forecourt. We love this show and stop and enjoy it everytime we pass by and it is on.

The castle looked beautiful! There was no crane, the skies were blue and the moat had been refilled. The scrims hanging to cover the refurb were not noticeable and Disney did their best to disguise their methods of improvements!

We watched the whole show, waved to Mickey, Minnie and the Gang, and headed on our way to Fantasyland.

We went via the back route behind the castle on the right, and stopped and made a wish at Cinderella’s Wishing Well!

Ahhhh Fantasyland!!!!(and an idea of the crowds today, this was our busiest day!- January 23rd)

IMG_7245.jpg

Our first ride of choice was Peter Pan. But the stand by time was crazy – 45 minutes ( I suppose that is good for late afternoon on a Saturday? But we didn’t want to wait), and fast passes were being distributed for 7:30- 8:00 pm !

I checked my watch and it was 2:55! Did you want to go see the 3:00 o’clock parade?! Of course!
So we got a great spot in Liberty Square right across from the Liberty Tree Tavern.
IMG_7251.jpg

The Parade starts with a salute to the “Voluntears”. Miss Piggy and Kermit greeted us with a wave and Sweetums followed along ready and armed to help out!

Then the music started for Celebrate a Dream Come True! DD and I sang and danced and truly enjoyed this parade. The weather was great and we had a front row seat to seeing our favourite friends!

The parade ended with us wanting more! We are a family that loves the music, the dance, and the festivities that make Disney.
We hadn’t even made it on a ride yet and that didn’t matter, we were here , in our Super Happy Place!

:lmao:

Disney Funk.
Better than having a funky BEHIND.:rotfl2:

But I digress...

I am a writing failure as well. But not in a funk- just all over the place with ballet's and choir and practices here and tutoring there.

Sorry you didn't enjoy the DOI show. :( I think the loooooong winter is really taking a toll on everyone.
But sunny skies are ahead. And I for one am looking forward to reading the rest of your report.

:surfweb:

When you're ready-- we'll be reading!:)

Thanks Jo! We startedour March Break at DD's school this week! I am also struggling to get my home office up and running. FINALLY we convered our guest room into my office. It involved paint, carpeting, new furntiture etc. So it was a mini reno project, and we finally got the chair today and moved the filing cabinet in. I got all the supplis to organize the filing cabinet, so you can imagine how overwhelmed I am feelin facing that :scared1:. I :lovestruc my new office tho, I was inspired by the Beach Club decor.

Oh, don't worry!! I am in the funk too and I can't finish my TR from December! I also have a trip planned! So it's not like I should be Disney-depressed or anything!
We will just hang out with you (in a cyber-sort of way!) until you feel like telling us more about your trip!
I'll have the snacks ready. popcorn::

Thanks! I did update, I think I need to isolate my updates to a day a piece, I think I a on Chapter 5 and still on day 1

At least you're not in a funk all alone. I think we all are. We are ready for the cold weather to go away and be replaced by pretty Springtime weather.

We got the spring time weather, snow is melted and it's RAINING here makes it more depressing!:sad2:

No worries! :simba: (<-- sorry, no Timon and Pumbaa)
We'll be here when you're ready to reminisce. popcorn::

Thanks, Simba is a cutie, but I have to admit Timon and Pumba stole my heart! :cutie:

The first Disney on Ice I saw ( 2 years ago) wa Disney Princesses. I loved it. Bu it is very girlie. Each Princess had her own story on Ice, it was great! I was lookig forward to seeing the Mad Hatter and more humour It was a great show, but not as good as Princesses or the 100 Years of Magic. We did go to the Disney Store afer and I got myself a t shirt to cheer me up! I am wearing it today ! :goodvibes

I haven't had time to lurk, and I have been a terrible support to all my fellow TR friends. Thanks for still being here and lurking!

Enjoy the Update every one, hopefully my sunny pictures of the castle brighten your day! :wizard:

Aww! What fun! You had great timing to get a good spot for that parade! That's one I've never seen in its entirety. Maybe next trip!

YAY!!! :yay: An Update!! :thumbsup2 We tried out Main St for the parades this time and next time...It's back to Fronteirland for us!!! :lmao: Main St is WAY TOO CROWDED!!! :scared1: I loved Frontierland - it is SO GrEAT for watching parades!!!

Fantasyland should be avoided at all costs after the hour of 11am, in my humble opinion! It is impossible to even MOVE in there in the afternoon let alone actually ride anything! Good on ya for tryin' anyway! :thumbsup2

Great Update....the pictures are fantastic:banana:

I love Fantasyland....makes me feel like a little girl everytime we enter through there.

Great spot for viewing the parade......

:( oh no, not the Disney Funk!! I hope you get over it--I would prescribe lots of Disney movies or songs to get the funkiness to go away!! Oh and a favorite treat be it ice cream, cookies or cake!! :thumbsup2

Yay for the show and the parade. I definitely want to try to hit both up if possible. If timing is on our side, than our first day after we get there will be shortly before the parade. :cloud9: Your pictures are just fantastic (I think I have said this before but they are beautiful! They are making even more excited to go on our trip!!)

Great update! :thumbsup2 Love the parade pics, looks like you had a great spot. Hope the crowds cleared out for you! :goodvibes

What a great update with more beautiful pictures! :goodvibes
I just love seeing the castle with the blue sky behind it

Yea! An update. You guys really lucked out and got a great spot to watch the afternoon parade. Your pictures are fantastic.

Thank you SO much for doing a report! :) The story about Christmas morning is so wonderful and your upgrade, your room, and lunch at Tony's... well everything sounds so fabulous! I can't wait to read more! I'm sorry you were sad during the Disney show. I hope the joy of Disney comes flooding back when you finish your report! :cutie:

We never get to a parade early, we always show up last minute and get a great seat. Now keeping in mind the parade now started at the Fire Hall at Main Street, so did have sometime to make it's way through to Fronterland. We see this parade at least 3 times each trip! I am a sucker for Disney parades, it's the characters, these characters bring my dreams to life, and I get all teary eyes seeing Mickey :)

Yes it was not my plan to do Fantasyland on our arrival day due to the time of arrival, BUT it really is our favorite place of all the parks, Hard to not go there!

Exactly- Fantasyland brings me back to the days we went to MK when I was 4 or 5! I love it!

Thnk you for the completment on my photos, I don't know how to make them smaller? I spent some time working on learning my camera. I got a great deal post Christmas 2008, so for our Jan 2009 trip I kept all the settings automatic. I was determined to know how to do more with the camera! I am SLOWLY getting out of the funk, I am suggesting another vacation ;)

Crowds were bad that Saturday, which was to be expected, but not horrible! The rest of the week was great!

What hosting site are you using? Photobucket has an option to make them smaller and the albums here on DIS seem to do as well (though I have not tried them yet--I may for the TR).

Nice solution! I think another vacation would be just the ticket out of the funk!! :thumbsup2

Just found your TR :surfweb: WOW! Great start to a magical trip :wizard: Can't wait to hear more! I would love to plan a mommy and me trip with my DD!

Great update! I took a pic of the balloons too! I forgot all about the wishing well though...next trip! I was relieved that the crane wasn't there either! :woohoo:

Great pictures of the parade. I've never seen the parade from that area, and need to check it out sometime.
