Mommy and Me Safari - A Magical Trip for Two -*Update 03/13 - Dreams and Celebrations

WOW! Reading this gave me goosebumps! :goodvibes

What a great update, and thanks for sharing your fabulous pictures! :thumbsup2

Thanks, I think they were just fed, we didn't take pictures right away because I didn't have my camera in my hand. It was a great first impression, but we didn't wake up every morning to the same view- whihc left us with a nice surprise each day.

I highly recommend Sunset Savannah, 2nd floor, and our room number if you can :thumbsup2

Off to Tony's

After gazing at the savannah for some time we decided to freshen up, get our park bags ready and head off to the MK for our lunch ADR at Tony’s Town Square. I had it booked for 1:15PM.

We easily found the bus stops at AKL, and we waited less than 5 minutes for the MK bus.

We arrived at the MK around 12:45 PM,

quick bag check, grabbed our map and times guide, and headed straight to Tony’s to see if we could check in early for lunch. BUT not before we found these, Lady and Tramp’s paw prints...

The lobby reception area was busy and we were checked in. To pass the time we looked at the Lady and the Tramp artwork, pressed a penny, and caught the tail end of the Move it Celebrate it Shake it Parade.

We were not seated until about 1:20! So much for checking in early. Our drink orders were taken immediately... Pomegranate Lemonade! Yummy!

I then ordered the appetizer, entree and dessert all at once to avoid any delays with bringing each portion. I started with Zucchini Fries – breaded crispy zucchini with creamy sun dried tomato dressing for dipping . My entree was the Shrimp Scampi – Linguine with Sun dried Tomatoes and Asparagus tossed in Garlic Sauce. My dessert was Pistachio Creme Brulee.

I had not pre-planned the appetizer as nothing had interested me on the menu I had reviewed at all ears. However the Zucchini Fries really appealed to me (I think it was the dipping sauce). These “fries” did not disappoint. DD also enjoyed them, and yes the best part was the dipping sauce.

I had been craving the Shrimp Scampi since January 2009. So this order was a no brainer for me. This 2010 version was with garlic sauce, previously I had garlicy alfredo sauce (I think). The Shrimp Scampi was very good.

The pistachio crème brulee was also something I had ordered before, however this trip the dessert was even better.

Dd ordered off the kids menu – garden salad to start, and Mickey-shaped Cheese Ravioli - with an Alfredo Sauce and topped with Crispy Pepperoni. She had a sundae for dessert and she loved all of it.

We were even shown a hidden mickey, which was right over our heads!

I would definitely return to Tony’s again. I love the atmosphere and the food. I cannot think of a negative aspect of Tony’s. We have tried dinner and lunch here and I would recommend both. Our seat was less than ideal both trips, but I definitely felt whisked away to someplace other than an amusement park.

Dd and I were full and we’re ready to head out and plan our next move. This is what we saw as we excited Tony’s .

Wow - sounds like you had a great lunch! Thanks for your review of Tony's, as I have read some negative reviews of it on here and have always hesitated about going there. Now it's back on my list!

Tony's sounds good! I've been hearing a few more positive reviews lately, so maybe it's improved. I probably would order the exact same as you did!Pistachio creme brulee' is right up my alley!
Might have to try it one of these trips!

Ummmm your meal at Tony's looked very good. I've never even really thought about booking an ADR there. Might just have to bump The Plaza for Tony's now.

Congrats on the upgrade!!!! What a view!!! :cool1:

Tony's looks fantastic. I may have to try that one next time. The zucchini fries looked scrumptious- I love it when vegetables don't taste like vegetables.

There were candied pistachios ! Yummy! I recommend Tony's, but understand it might not be for everyone. I did alot of research for food pics before our first visit there. I think the atmosphere and location are great!

Great update! :goodvibes Tony's looks fabulous! Can't wait to hear about the rest of your MK adventures!

Tony's is great! I am still trying to get my receipts and trip journal in order so I can update

Our first trip I was hesitant, but I wanted and early TS dinner before Spectro. That meal was so good we had to return, and I got the same menu items ! So it had to be good. I crave the pasta !

I would pick Tony's over the Plaza, just my opinion. The Chicken Parmigiana looked huge !

Congrats on the upgrade!!!! What a view!!! :cool1:

Thank you - the balloon shot is something I try to get everytime I go. I always admire other peoples, I haven't taken one yet that I love!

Thanks for following along my SLOW moving TR! I think I'd be better with a PTR, more excitement!

What have I been doing...

editing my PhotoPass Pics so I could order before the deadline... Their website is not very cooperative. I think I ended up with 389 photos once I was done with my edits.

Also been setting up home office, getting tax info ready :scared1: and other real life events.

I plan on organizing my receipts, I promised myself I would do a breakdown of what we paid, to summarize the value of the dining plan.

Oh and I got completely sucked into the Olympics - YAY CANADA !!!
and Congrats to the other Olympians from around the world! What a great event!

 Hugs to you all !

I got sucked into the Olympics too! I am glad they are over as bad as that sounds.

I am going to try my hand at a balloon shot--I do not have a DSLR but a step down. I can do manual mode and adjust everything myself just not switch out the lenses.

Sounds like me--school work is kicking my butt right now but DIS is now I have been unwinding at night. Of course I did a little DISing while I watched the Olympics too. :rolleyes1

Joining in!

Welcome and thanks for Joining!

Following along, enjoying your report and pics!

Thank you and Welcome!

I interupt this TR for an announcement....

As you can insinuate from my lack of updated I have entered a Disney Funk!

This weekend was my Mothers B day and next week it is my Birthday... so what did we do.... Well Disney on Ice of course. You would think I would have reported my excitement sooner, but I got the tickets last minute and we headed out and went to see Let's Celebrate. I think the show was most likely the best we have seen by far, but something was missing- was my Disney Funk really that bad?

Mickey Mouse was in my town and I was blah about it :confused3.

Even my family noticed. I think what had me most down was the seats, We had good seats, but NOT ideal and there were plenty of empty seats? Where were all the Disney fans? why were their empty seats? Made me feel sad :sad1:

I even apologized to my family for the seats, this was a definite turn of events - my family loved the show more than I did - so maybe I succeeded in converting them into Super Disney Fans too?

Sorry if I am disappointing all my friends here? You all encouraged me to write! :guilty:

:lmao:

Disney Funk.
Better than having a funky BEHIND.:rotfl2:

But I digress...

I am a writing failure as well. But not in a funk- just all over the place with ballet's and choir and practices here and tutoring there.

Sorry you didn't enjoy the DOI show. :( I think the loooooong winter is really taking a toll on everyone.
But sunny skies are ahead. And I for one am looking forward to reading the rest of your report.

:surfweb:

When you're ready-- we'll be reading!:)

Oh, don't worry!! I am in the funk too and I can't finish my TR from December! I also have a trip planned! So it's not like I should be Disney-depressed or anything!
We will just hang out with you (in a cyber-sort of way!) until you feel like telling us more about your trip!
I'll have the snacks ready. popcorn::

At least you're not in a funk all alone. I think we all are. We are ready for the cold weather to go away and be replaced by pretty Springtime weather.

No worries! :simba: (<-- sorry, no Timon and Pumbaa)
We'll be here when you're ready to reminisce. popcorn::
