"Mom, this is like a whole new Disney!" New 7/30 - pg 43 - Final Thoughts & PTR Link

After TSM we decided to head to Sunset Blvd for some thrill rides, but not until we took potty stop #2! We also stopped at the pin cart on Sunset Blvd to grab a Phineas & Ferb pin that Zach spotted. Next stop – Rock ‘n’ Rollercoaster!! This is the first of MANY pictures you will see like this in my TR:

100_0551.jpg

We saw a lot of renovations/rehabs all over WDW – most of them seemed to be cosmetic and the rides/store/restaurants were still open. :confused3

We all rode! Zach was so excited to be tall enough!

Apparently Nancy didn’t know we were going on a rollercoaster… she thought it was something like Test Track! :rotfl2: This wouldn’t be the only time she jumped on a ride without knowing what to expect… :rolleyes1 Then we headed to ToT… but Zach didn’t want to ride so we left Zach with Nancy to get a temporary tattoo while Tim, Alex & I went on ToT.

We entered the FP line with Alex’s GAC and were told the wait would be 25 minutes (75 in stand-by even though the sign said 13). Apparently they were down to one elevator shaft. :headache: I decided to leave Tim & Alex to ride and meet back up with Nancy & Zach to go back to the park entrance to pick up a stroller & check out the Club Penguin merchandise.

On the way back to the front of the park we saw him:

And then him:

Then we made it back to the shop where Zach saw the Club Penguin stuff. He purchased these guys:

Then we ran into this show & stopped to watch while we waited for Tim & Alex:

I also went to the bathroom again (#3) and decided not to drink two cups of coffee and a glass of juice before heading to the parks for the rest of the week.

I spotted a photopass photographer just as I spotted Tim & Alex approaching so we stopped for a picture (I ordered our CD on Friday so I’ll post the pictures as soon as I get them). This was our only PP picture this day. Next we headed to Star Tours – Alex has gotten interested in Star Wars recently when one of the episodes of Deal or No Deal (his obsession) featured characters from the Star Wars movies. He could have cared less about the ride, but wanted to check out the gift shop! As we walked Tim told me that Alex was really weird on ToT and seemed scared… later that day Alex told me, “I’m having a problem with ToT. I still like it, but I’m only going to ride it once each trip.” :rotfl:

As we approached Star Tours we saw people lined up for Jedi Training and Alex asked what it was. I told him they were going to be in a show and had to wait a long time. (The line was also full at that point so we couldn’t have lined up even if we wanted to.) Tim & Nancy both get motion sickness on simulator rides so I took the boys on Star Tours.

100_0558.jpg

They enjoyed the ride even though Alex was a bit confused about whether we were flying through space or not… He couldn’t quite grasp the concept of a simulator ride. After the ride we stopped in Tatooine Traders and Alex found all of these guys:

We didn’t find a Luke Skywalker but we pretended one of the other guys was Luke. ;)

Next we were headed to brunch at H&V. On our way out of Tatooine Traders we saw the Jedi Training going on. Alex seemed really interested so we stopped for a couple minutes to check it out.

Up next: Hollywood & Vine

I'm glad you mentioned all the rehabs you saw at WDW. I thought there was a LOT more going on in that respect than I have ever seen before. Like you said, mostly cosmetic, but more than usual. Hmmm.....

Funny that Alex is changing his mind about ToT. I know that was one of his favorites! :confused3

I don't do well on simulators either so I've never done Star Tours. My boys like it though so Jeff rides with them. The Jedi training looks interesting....cool pictures!

DHS is only a one day park for us so we are so busy trying to do everything that we don't watch any of the street performers. Next time I'm going to make a point to catch at least one performance. They look hysterical! :rotfl:

Great update....off to H&V for brunch! :thumbsup2

That is so cute what Alex said about "Having a problem" with ToT:)
We all love both RNRC & ToT. DH & I rode both at least twice.

Yeah if I drank that much coffee & juice I would be taking lots of breaks also!!

That's so funny....Nick got the same exact penguin when we were at Disney!! Oh and cute red puffle!!:goodvibes

We'll definitely have to make a point to stop and watch some of the street performers at DHS next trip. Great pictures!!!:thumbsup2

Can't wait to hear about Hollywood and Vine!popcorn::

I knew that RnRC would be closed for rehab later in May so I wasn't too surprised to see that they had already gotten started on exterior work, but there were a bunch of places at all the parks... I think the majority of them were at MK.

That is so cute what Alex said about "Having a problem" with ToT:)

Those puffles were huge! Zach got the penguin so his penguin at home would have a friend. :goodvibes

The street performers are fun... We've mostly seen them on Sunset Blvd when someone is sitting out a ride.

Great update! :goodvibes I just love DHS. It sounds like you were having a great morning. Can't wait to hear about the rest of the day!

Nancy is way braver than I am to jump on rides without knowing what she was getting into!

Alex's comment about the Tower of Terror is great! :lmao:

Alex picked out some great Star Wars figures! :thumbsup2

Poor Alex. I feel the same way about ToT. It still is one of my favorites but it also still scares the heck out of me. I always feel like I am going to fly right out of my seat. Ack!!

Isn't Bucky Greenhorn just adorable?? We saw him too and just had to take a photo of him.

You ended up with a big bunch of Star Wars figures, awesome!! Star Wars is a favorite at our house too. I thought the ride was pretty lame though so could definitely use a rebab soon!

Great update Amy!! Keep 'em coming! :)

AHHHHHH!!! I have missed so much Amy!!! I am finally caught up!! First off some dancing for two more Disney Trips!!!!:banana::banana:
I too recommend POFQ!! We had a wonderful time there this trip and I would recommend it to anyone!! The resort is absolutely beautiful!!!

The aquarium looked like a lot of fun and I love the pics in the turtle nets!! Your resort looks really nice and the storms Sunday night were crazy!!!!
LOVING your DHS day so far!! I keep looking for us in the background of your pictures!! We tried to get Gabe on Star Tours but I don't think he quite gets what it is, he's not quite into Star Wars yet but I know the day will come when he will!!! Love the Club Penguin guy too, they are so cute!!!! I promise to stay all caught up now!!!!

Hi Beth!! I'm glad you are all caught up! I'm behind on yours too... I'm finding that I only have enough time to keep up with my own report right now... Things should settle down in a few weeks when school gets out & I'll have plenty of DIS time... hopefully!

I can't believe we didn't cross paths somewhere!

We actually didn't see too much Phineas & Ferb stuff... but we weren't really looking. Zach saw the pin from about a mile away!

My back was doing OK at that point.

I know... the potty situation was a bit out of hand that day... :sad2:

I think I've mentioned that Laura hasn't fully committed to the trip yet... well yesterday I was playing around on the Disney website and noticed that special room-only rates at POFQ are booked for the weekend we want to go...

So I decided to give Laura a little nudge and suggested that we decide on a resort and book something since it's fully refundable anyways... if things don't work out we can cancel, but if they do we want to make sure we have a resort we like.

She has stayed at POR & I've stayed at CBR & POP. POP was still my first choice for a value resort... the others don't really appeal to me. As far as moderates go, I didn't want to stay at CBR again, just because I'd like to try something else. I was leaning toward POFQ, but since it was booked I thought POR would be a good second choice.

Laura got back to me today and thought it would be a good idea to book something and that she would love to stay at POR again, but that we should probably go with a value resort. I broke down the prices for her and since a moderate is only about $75 more each for the 3 nights (standard view) or about $100 more for a water view we opted for POR, standard view!!

I booked it today!! I made a reservation for POR from Thursday 9/30 - Sunday 10/3. :banana::banana:

Now I need your help... Where do we want to stay? The mansions or Alligator Bayou?? I'm thinking upper floor (quieter) & near the main building... but other than that, I have no idea what we want...

FUN, FUN!!!!

Ok now I have stayed there but once and didn't really take advantage of the resort...something we have remedied on later trips...but for two adults...how much of the resort is a priority...

I'd vote for Alligator Bayou just cause well that is where we stayed. I'd have to look at a resort map, but something like building 14 or 15. it's in the corner, not far from main building, the bus stop we used you could cut throught the parking lot and it was right there and the water taxi to the Marketplace wasn't far either...

pool wise :confused3 but that may not be an issue for you two.

hope that helps...

J~

Ok need to get moving on my day for my Dis meet at Panera ;)

We love POR!! We've stayed in building 16 twice and loved the location. Close to the main building, but not right on top of a lot of foot traffic. There's a shortcut to the main bus stop too!

How exciting to have a new trip booked!

Awesome! :cool1: Congrats!!

We stayed in AB 27 and loved it. We had about a 4-5 minute walk to the pool, the food court, and a bus stop. I had put in a request for AB 14 (which is the most popular request), 18, 26, or 27 - top floor. We got AB 27 top floor. I thought any of those would be great as none of them are near the parking lot & I liked the looks of AB more than the mansions. And I thought that putting in a pretty wide variety of buildings would help more in getting one of them, rather than just requesting one specific building.

I forgot you did a POR review... I'm heading over there to re-read it now!
