So Friday, 8/26 was our first full day as a family. We have had a room only in the past and the next day had to go to the front desk to re-check in. This year, they brought our new park tickets to our room!

I loved this extra bit of service.
Off we headed to Hollywood Studios. DS wanted to try the new Star Wars as soon as possible. But first we had to go Toy Story Mania! Then we needed a snack so off to Writer's Stop -
DS had a chocolate chocolate chip muffin
DH had a strawberry muffin
And I finally got to try a carrot cake cookie!
I loved it! Very moist, delicious filling. Way to big for one person but DH wouldn't share as he really wanted the muffin. We also got 3 bottles of water. Used 6 snack credits but the cost would have been $18.07.
Lunch was at Mama Melrose's. We ate here in 2004 and 2005 and for some reason just haven't gone back. We vaguely remember a bad experience in
'05 but regardless felt it was time to go back.
We checked in right as the restaurant opened and waited just a few minutes to be seated. Our waittress, Katie, was very good. Attentive, refilled drinks often and was generally very pleasant.
We started with warm, crusty rolls and olive oil
DS started with the Vegetarian Minestrone - Made with Ditalini Pasta. - $5.49
He ate every last drop so he must have enjoyed it. I didn't try it.
DH had Clams Oreganatta - oak fried Clams cooked in oregano butter and italian sausage over toasted foccacia - $10.99
And I had Mozzarella and Tomatoes - Served with marinated sweet onions, balsamic drizzle, extra virgin olive oil, and fresh sweet basil. - $7.99
DH and I really shared our two choices, both of which were delicious. Tomatos were perfect, mozzarella nice and soft but the clams ... oh my were they good! I am not a huge seafood person so if the clams were too big I would not have liked them. But these were tiny with lots of bits of sausage in the broth. Very, very good.
For our entrees,
DS had Penne alla Vodka - with Pancetta and Sweet Onion finished with Tomato-Basil Sauce, Cream, Vodka, and Pecorino Romano $16.99
He really enjoyed this. I tried a few bites and agreed it was very good. The pasta was the perfect al dente, sauce just enough. Good amount of pancetta bits. A very good penne ala vodka.
DH had Piccata di Pesca - fresh fish sauteed in a white wine lemon butter sauce with caperberries, spinach, and whole grain pasta $20.99
The fish of the day was mahi mahi. I had never tried that fish before and thought it was Ok. Nice mild fish. The sauce was delicious on the spaghetti.
I chose Wild Mushroom Flatbread - with caprino pesto, wild mushrooms and asiago cheese, arugala as a garnish
This was tasty but not as good as DS's pasta. I didn't want a heavy pasta meal so I chose the flatbread. I do love mushrooms. Crust was crispy ... just enough cheese. It was a fine flatbread ... just not as tasty as DS's pasta.
We all had iced tea, no dessert. Nothing on the menu really thrilled us and we knew we were heading to EPCOT for some snacks before our dinner. Total cost would have been $87.88.
