Mom & Son Eat the World Part 2 - Updated 1/20 Breakfast at POP & Cost Summary

I agree the Plaza meal looks great - the sandwiches looked really tasty
Is it just a straightforward meal - no characters ?

At some point during the day, DS wanted a turkey leg

img_0839.jpg

We had tried one several years ago and it was a greasy mess! I have to admit that this one was pretty tasty!

Dinner was at Cinderella’s Royal Table. We went in not expecting much, I just really wanted to eat in the Castle. Plus we knew we would be stuck in mass crowds and wanted a place to escape for a bit.

Dinner started with nice crusty rolls with butter

img_0867.jpg

DH and DS both had the soup of the day – I cannot for the life of me remember what it was! Maybe New England Clam Chowder? I will ask them tonight and update

img_0869.jpg

I had the BLT Salad – applewood smoked bacon, tomato, egg, red onion and a wedge of iceberg lettuce drizzled with roasted shallot vinaigrette

img_0871.jpg

This was somewhat hard to eat but very tasty!

For entrees, DH had roasted Lamb Chops with gratin potatoes, vegetable ragout and drizzled with herb pesto.

img_0875.jpg

This surprised me because DH doesn’t generally eat lamb. He said he just wanted something different and that it was fine.

DS had the Vegetarian Pasta – spiral cavatapi pasta, roasted tomatoes, crimini mushrooms, spinach, roasted garlic and fresh basil

img_0874.jpg

He would have preferred this with less tomato and more mushroom and spinach. This was not his favorite for sure. He ended up just picking at the pasta.

I once again had pork - the Pork Chop with bacon, mushroom ragout and red bliss mashed potatoes finished with sweet chipotle glaze

img_0876.jpg

This was tasty but probably my least favorite of the three pork dishes I had thus far. Not bad, just not as good as the other two dishes.

For dessert, DS had the crème brulee of the day which was eggnog

img_0882.jpg

Creme brulee is one of his favorites and he really enjoyed this one.

DH had the Chocolate-Cream Cheese Buckle – a single layer of chocolate cake stuffed with cream cheese topped with crème Chantilly and finished with crème anglaise sauce

img_0880.jpg

This was very good! But not as good as the Chocolate Slipper that I had pre-ordered!

img_0881.jpg

This was truly delicious! The strawberries dipped in the mousse were wonderful! I didn’t have much of the actual ‘shoe’ but DS loved it. Well worth the extra $15!

All in all, we enjoyed our meal here more than we had expected to. The show with Fairly Godmother and the mice was cute. She recognized us for our anniversary. We had a table overlooking the carousel which was nice. But at $179.xx it is way overpriced. Having deluxe dining, it didn’t matter of course. But I don’t think I would even consider paying that much out of pocket for this meal. Food was good but no where near the quality of the signature restaurants.

I've just now caught up on your reviews! Everything looks really good so far, I can't wait for more :thumbsup2

joining in and Loving your food report. I have to try Il Mulino (after reading MickeyNicki food report and yours makes it a must place to eat) and Artist Point (I have an ADR for Flying Fish on our May trip and my husband said why are we going back b/c a few years ago we went and he really wasn't happy. I told him give it another chance since it was 4 yrs ago but I hate to try it again and him tell me I told you so...I'm going to cancel Flying Fish and book Artist Point)...thanks for the report again.

It was the best part of our meal!

THANK YOU! Based on this trip, I would definitely pick AP over FF. Il Mulino is a definite must!

Joining in and enjoying your review very much! We (well me) are starting to think about our next trip in a year and I would so love to try some of the signature restaurants but I'm not sure our kids are "seasoned" enough yet. Maybe I'll try one and see how it goes.

Your chocolate slipper looks lovely! :goodvibes

I had the vegetarian entrée at CRT and I was pretty underwhelmed too. I loved the chocolate and cream cheese buckle though!

Definitely give one a try! I think Jiko and Cali Grille are "louder" than Artist Point or Citricos so they may be a good choice.

It was delicious! DS was definitely underwhelmed! He was right when he said that he could have made something better at home!

Love reading your reviews.:goodvibes

Thank you! Two more days plus a breakfast to go! I plan to finish up this weekend! :cutie:

I wish they made more of an effort to make the food at CRT better! I guess you really can't beat the atmosphere, though.

New Year’s Eve day started out with snacks for breakfast. One of these

img_0902.jpg

And a cinnamon sugar pretzel

img_0903.jpg

Both were very good!

I had booked lunch at Chefs de France mainly to see Remy. I almost cancelled when I found out we had to eat off the dinner menu. I ended up very glad that I didn’t. Our server, Ludovic, was great and our meal was a pleasant surprise!

img_0908.jpg

We started out with the yummy crusty rolls.

img_0909.jpg

Warm rolls with cold butter. I could have eaten many of these, but limited myself to only one.

DS started with Soupe a l'oignon gratinee - the classic onion soup topped with Gruyere cheese

img_0910.jpg

DH had the Assiette de fromages de France - French imported cheese plate

img_0911.jpg

And I had Salade au bleu - romaine hearts, blue cheese dressing, bacon, walnuts, croutons

img_0912.jpg

All were very good, especially my salad. Lots of bacon and crispy croutons.

While enjoying our appetizers, this guy came out!

img_0917.jpg

Is it sad to say that he was one of the highlights of our trip? Oh my gosh, I loved him!

For entrees, DS and I both had Plat de Cote de Boeuf au Cabarnet avec pates - Beef short ribs braised in Cabernet with pasta, pearl onions and mushrooms

img_0913.jpg

This was one of our favorite meals from last trip and it didn’t disappoint us this year. The beef was super tender, not fatty like short ribs can be. Very flavorful. Delicious.

DH had Filet de boeuf grille, sauce au poivre noir Gratin Dauphinois et haricots verts - Grilled tenderloin of beef with a black pepper sauce original potato gratin of Savoy and green beans

img_0914.jpg

This was also very good, especially the potatoes.

For dessert, DH had Crepe a la pomme et cannelle, glace vanille, caramel jus de pommes - Crepes filled with cinnamon, apple, vanilla ice cream and apple caramel sauce

img_0919.jpg

DS had a cappuccino

img_0920.jpg

I just finished the wine that we had ordered.

Lunch with the wine, came to $192.45. DS and I did have a very good lunch here last year but with all the recent bad reviews here on the Dis, I was nervous. No need to be. All three of us really enjoyed this meal.

I had booked an early-ish dinner at 5:30 at the Biergarten because I wanted to be back out for all of the festivities. I didn’t even realize that at 6 pm, it was New Year’s in Germany. All of the servers went down on stage & celebrated. It was really cool and a little sad as you could tell many were missing their families.

img_0923.jpg

img_0922.jpg

This was really a nice bonus for us!

As you know, dinner is a buffet – I only took my first plate.

img_0921.jpg

Potato Leek soup with a pretzel roll, roasted potatoes, chicken schnitzel covered with spaetzle and gravy & some sausages.

All were very good. I ended up with a 2nd plate of the chicken & spaetzle!

DH had a Becks and I had a white wine flight. Total of the meal was $134.70. The alcohol portion was $22.90.

Throughout the evenind, DH and I enjoyed a couple of beverages

img_0928.jpg

Champagne for me & white wine for DH during the first Illuminations.

Later, we each had two of these

img_0929.jpg

Pomegranate and champagne from a stand set up near Morocco. Very tasty!

thanks for another wonderful update...I'm so glad too you did not cancel Chefs de France...we had the best lunch meal there too. My husband loves the cheese sampler and I love the short ribs (its one of the best that I had on our Disney trip). When making an ADR's my husband request for CP and Chefs de France.

This truly seems to be a hit or miss place if you read the reviews here. I am so glad it was a hit for you as well. We definitely enjoyed our meal.
